Somisomi

This is my go to spot for a dessert after grabbing a meal in Bixby Knolls! They are open pretty late, making it the perfect convenient stop. The soft serve is affordable and big, and it's shareable between two people. My favorite flavor is the matcha or the matcha milk swirl, but the swirls change every week.The taiyaki is also a great dessert, crunchy on the outside, and soft and mochi-like on the inside. My favorite fillings are the nutella and the red bean!

We usually opt to share the Upside Down Ah-boong, which is a custard-filled taiyaki (fish-shaped waffle cone) on top of your Korean-style soft serve of choice. It's never too sweet (true Asians know this is a compliment). But the taiyaki can be a hit or miss - some days it has nice mochi-like chewy texture with a bit of crunch, and other days it's hard and brittle. There's always a flavor of the month along with the other set flavors. I was so excited to have this open in Long Beach only to be quite disappointed that milk tea isn't one of the set flavors, unlike the Somisomi spot in West L.A. Each month, I always poke my head in to see if milk tea is finally a monthly flavor. Somisomi, if you're reading this, PLEASEEE add milk tea to your set menu in Long Beach! If you do, I promise to come at least once a week. Service is usually friendly enough, but I think it kind of sucks that you can't get samples like any other standard ice cream/soft serve shop. Especially since you have to commit to a giant cup of it and it's not cheap. Keep in mind there is no seating, only some tall tables for you to stand and eat at.

I love Somisomi!!It's such a cute idea combining soft serve with a waffle-like little fish, with Asian influences/flavors.The only thing that worries me is that it was 80° outside and only one young girl was serving us. She had no back up person- only her. We walked in around 3pm and then about 5+ people came in and it was only her!! When I'd forgotten to place another order she allowed me to get back in line to ring me up, and did my order quickly. Poor girl, ring people up, put on new gloves, keep an eye on the waffle fish so they don't burn, serve the soft serve and wait for their optional toppings. While I love the affordability and concept in contrast to places like Yogurltand or Coldstones, I understand how this places extra stress on the workers- it's VERY SIMILAR TO HOW WALMART KEEPS THEIR PRICES LOW. Feels a bit unethical but I guess it's a job that has a lot of variability. But if there's enough staffing I think it's a great place to go! The end :)

Very friendly and fairly quick service. They do have so space to stand and enjoy your treat inside, but no seating. Lots of tasty flavors and I enjoyed my special swirl

SOMISOMI Is ole reliable. I went to the location in Long Beach and it was just as good as the others. The service was quick and the store ambiance was unique as it had a square of standing tables. The ice cream itself hit the spot and the toppings were good. Overall this was the perfect sweet treat for the night.

After Ramen and sushi we slide over for dessert and get our fix at Somi. Kids love it here. Everything is delicious.

Love their delicious taiyaki, especially with ice cream inside. They have great flavors and I'm a huge fan of their soft serve. It is the perfect after dinner (or instead of dinner!) treat in Bixby Knolls.

My go-to order is an "Upside-down Matcha/Ube swirl with Nutella or Matcha Custard with a strawberry and matcha powder for the topping. Ivan was extremely patient & kind when we placed our order. They have a restroom for customers and there is no inside seating but they do have a bench outside. This location does not accept cash so bring your card payments. There is street and shared parking in the back lot for all of the nearby stores.

They do a great job at what they do. Great flavor and pretty affordable in this economy. Yogurtland can go well over $10 sometimes depending on how much you put on there. Somisomi? Always $6.95. Plus, they have the cold brew drink selection.A great after-dinner sweet treat, and they are OPEN LATE!

Walked in to an empty shop...Cashier was at the back counter by the restroom (not in the kitchen), she welcomed us in and took a minute or two to actually walk up to take our order. In the midst of waiting for the cashier to come up, my sister and I walked over the ask to use the restroom since we were waiting for her to come take our order. So we asked to use the restroom and were told that we actually had to pay first because of a "new policy". Ridiculous!!While the customer service wasn't the greatest (and it's not the cashiers fault for this immature "policy"), this so called policy was just down right rude! I have never experienced such a bizarre situation like this one before.
