Sesame Dinette

I'm so sad to learn that the chef is retiring soon. I have genuinely enjoyed everything I've ever ordered from here including their signature Sesame banh mi (I get mine with chicken), their French dip, the summer rolls with plant-based shrimp, the pate chaud, the prosperity soup and my #1 favorite, their noodle salad bowl with grilled pork. It's going to be a mission trying new things on the menu that I haven't tried in such a short/ undetermined amount of time, especially when I have favorites. Today I ordered the summer rolls and they look a big bigger than usual. I also ordered their prosperity soup which has little noodle knots, goji berries, two kinds of mushrooms, lotus seeds, jujube dates and ginseng. It's seriously such a nice warm and healing bowl of soup. It's barely my second time ordering it, and I'm bummed I didn't try it sooner. They'll be open normal hours until they find a buyer, and I'm wishfully hoping it'll take at least a month or two. I don't want them to go away :(

This is the type of place I'd drive for. A well thought out modern take on Viet food. Located in a strip mall, they have a few parking spots in the plaza. I couldn't dine in since I had my dog and they don't have outdoor seating so I called in for a Pho French dip sandwich. Service was friendly and they said it'd take ~20-30 mins since they had a lunch rush on a Friday. Inside was cute with some seating and merch/sauces for salePho French dip sandwich (5/5) so good. Bread was light and crispy on the outside, brisket was tender and soft. The jalapeños gave it a nice kick. The pho dipping soup was nice and hot with a balance of spices/beef. It wasn't an overly sweet broth which I appreciated I will be back to dine in and try more items!

Love this modern Vietnamese eatery! If not for their limited hours, I'd be here more often. The modern Vietnamese menu reminds me of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in NY and Berlin. I also like the minimalist decor. Come for coffee, stay for lunch!

Amazing food but the parking was terrible. Get the pho ban minh, maybe even a second one cause it's so delicious. Service was good. Ambience was relaxing and simple. I'm hoping this place stays open, but if not, hopefully you get to try it!

This is gem of a place that I recently discovered while searching Yelp for new vegan Asian eats. The Dinette is small as the name implies but clean and modern appearing. They serve Vietnamese cuisine with innovative interpretations. For example, their vegetarian "meat" Banh Mi (can be modified to be vegan) comes in a crunchy flat sesame bread rather than the traditional baguette. I enjoyed it so much that I brought my family back to try. They also serve high quality hot tea which is difficult to find even at a large restaurant! It is located in a small strip mall and I can see parking being an issue at times but I have not had difficulty parking both times I've gone. The neighborhood isn't the best but not to the point that it feels dangerous in any way. Staff are super friendly.

Cute, bright, restaurant/shop. You order at the counter and they bring it out to your table. We weren't expecting much because it's not the typical authentic-looking mom&pop Vietnamese restaurant, but we're delighted with the dishes! The soup was very tasty and the vermicelli bowl was light and fresh. We also got their version of the banh-mi which was decent, but I prefer the traditional one more. Looking forward to coming back and trying their other dishesSmall parking lot but we were able to find parking easily.

Delicious and fresh Vietnamese food in a clean, fast casual setting. Everything's made to order. Love that they offer a variety of different brands of hot garlic chili oil to try with your food and purchase. Small parking lot and plenty of street parking.

Excellent service! I was recommend by a foodie friend & Eater LA to go here. The place is in a little quaint shopping plaza. It's off a seemingly seedy strip mall but trust me it's NOT BAD ALL.The Pho French dip, Blue Crab Eggrolls, and pho are pho-nomenal. For first timer leaning try it all at once the Pho French Dip is a nice balance. Pho French dip comes with soupy base to dip the sandwich in. It's crispy, moist, juicy all at the same time.The pho tastes so clean and light ! There isn't a strong heavy aftertaste. It leaves you wanted for another spoonful.Blue crab egg rolls are are filling and packed with umami. The flavors are bold and not demure.Super good would order again but not often to watch my health lol I hate using this seemingly ubiquitous word, but it truly is a " hidden gem ". I highly reccomend it.I've been to so many pho places and there's only two places I'd go to and this is one of them.

Sesame Dinette never misses. Every visit is a delightful experience, thanks to the sweet and attentive staff and consistently delicious food. This time, my boyfriend and I ordered the pho French dip sandwich, grilled beef wrapped in lolot leaves, and rare steak pho. Each dish was outstanding and hit the spot perfectly.
