Sea Empress Seafood Restaurant

Sea Empress is my go to Dimsum Lunch place here in Gardena. It has been around for a long time and it's been quite consistent given your regular Dimsum Menu. My favorites include: Pork and Shrimp Siomai, Shrimp Har Gao, Steamed Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, Sticky Rice with Chicken and Sausage, Beef and Mushroom Dumplings. They also have Crispy Prawn Balls, Beef Noodle, Pork Belly and the list goes on.Service is quick and efficient.

I usually like to support old establishments. But this place needs some serious improvement:1. Decor was old, table was way lower than usual dining table2. Service was poor, no one asked what tea we wanted, they just brought out the tea as soon as we sat down3. The cart ladies immediately surrounded us and kept asking what dim sum we wanted. In the first two minutes we sat down, we already got all we needed without even tried the tea yet. This is not dim sum is supposed to be, it should be you take time to drink tea, talk and slowly getting your food.4. Most of all, the food was cold, were not tasty. We left in 15 mins, left most what we ordered uneaten, this has never happened to me as someone who had dim sum hundreds of times.5. I guess this explains why this place has so many tables available on a Saturday morning.

We ordered some dimsum :Siomai I think they add some extenders (flour?!?), bland taste on all dimsum we ordered Dumpling soup wrapper is so thick. Sesame ball is not crunchy.Price wise I think it's okayMaybe no more next time for me.

We ordered the regular items. However, their Tulip cakes have some weird taste to them. Also, their Sweet Rice Cakes tasted old and bland. But still, the service is not too bad, just have to keep on asking for certain things, that's all.Now onto the I side of the restaurant ... the tables are placed a decent amount of space, and their bathrooms are okay ... just don't expect top notch clean.

I'm a little bummed that Sea Empress has dropped in quality after all these years. Like, significantly.Dim sum is always a great time but phew, this time was very off. Everything was dry and old tasting, lacking in any substantial flavor. I had to use a whole lot of soy sauce and mustard to even swallow anything. The turnip cake was flour with turnip breathed on it. It's not representative of turnip cake at all. The steamed bbq pork buns were soggy and falling apart. The chang fen was okay at best, but that's not saying much. I don't even need to talk about the chicken feet, har gow, or anything else cause I'm gonna rip into those as well.So what can I say? Dim sum in the south bay hasn't always been the best but Sea Empress has really disappointed me so not sure where to go next moving forward.

We rushed here after church for dim sum and we were sitted right away and enjoyed every bit of everything that we had. My friends and I (four of us) love to eat, go on food adventures and we said this is a place to come back again. We left

TLDR: restaurant reminds me of my childhood family dinners out and the food is delish! This is not the fanciest place, truth be told, the decor is outdated but I don't look at decorations, I want to know if my food is going to be good. We went to Sea Empress upon my auntie's recommendation. My cousin had a craving for roasted duck and they had it. Our party of 7 was seated right away - it was a weekday after all. We got our hot teas and orders were taken and delivered in short order. Cantonese food is my comfort food and our dishes didn't disappoint. Salt and pepper pork chops were just the right kind of crispy and tender. I could have eaten the chow fun by myself but had to share Food servings are generous! Their roasted duck is yummy! I'm going to add Sea Empress to my go to list when I'm in Gardena.

I was little worried when there were no customers in the restaurant at 12:00?... But I was invited guest so ... food (dim sum) was bad... cold dried and salty!... service was terrible... they didn't speak good English and was not interested in serving us... even though we were only customers at the time!... at this point who cares about the ambiance... my friend and I actually said at same time to each other that we will never come back to this place! Sorry for the bad review but it is what it is... hope they learn from this...

We had been coming here for years. It's never been great but at least it's closer than SGV. Today was the worst. I'll keep it short. Really bad food, unorganized really bad service, "couldn't give a fuck" attitude. I included a picture of the food that we wouldn't eat. Doughy dumplings, disgusting pork pastry. We left after 2 dishes. If you're throwing away more food than you're eating, then you're not eating at the right restaurant

The lady taking orders in the front counter who has been there for so many years really need to concentrate more on customer service skill rather than being rude and short!When I called for a takeoutShe was not patient about the order which I had to call back since she basically cut me off- when customers call she should be more patient and disciplined in communicating with customers?I m sure Sea Empress management stress customer service skills of all their employees and this type of attitude is really out of line!Hope management talks to her to make changes for her communication skills with customers!Really was disappointing experience !
