My family and I were making a trip to LA and my sister saw this place on TikTok and wanted to stop on the way up. We got there and there was a bit of a wait to get in but no big deal. It was cool that it was an outdoor dining area on the water (although. It much of a view because of the fence) which made for great weather. You get in and scan the QR at your table and place your order online which was cool. I placed my order separate because my sisters take forever to decide and I know I wanted to try something that wasn't that tray. I ordered the crispy fish sandwich and the fisherman's stew. My sisters ordered the tray which came out quickly and it definitely was loaded with seafood. I tried some of everything and the first thing I thought was that it needed salt and could only taste the paprika/cayenne in it. They definitely should include a few Lemons with the tray IMO. The seafood itself was nice and clean tasting, but nothing crazy. In my experience, the dishes that make for good pictures and social media tend to be underwhelming when you actually go and try it which is why I like to explore the menu a bit more. Unfortunately I never got my food because my ticket was lost and by the time we told the staff up front (since there's no assigned waiter due to ordering online) it had been like 50 minutes, and then another 15 went by so I ultimately had to cancel my order. I wasn't upset or anything as I understand they are busy and this stuff happens. I told them I would pay for a Ceviche cup to go. The staff was super apologetic and gave me the ceviche on the house. I will say the ceviche was delicious and I enjoyed the pineapple in there! Overall the vibe was cool and I know the staff was hustling to keep track of all their orders. The trays are their wow factor but not something I would personally come back. Being that the ceviche was yummy, I would suggest people try some of their other menu items :)

Can someone explain why every meal here comes in a sealed to-go container even when you're eating in? When you trap hot, crispy food inside a SEALED container it basically turns into a steam room for fries and fish. And guess what? Soggy fish and chips are not good.By the time our food hit the table, the calamari had lost its crunch, and the fries were just sad. A simple fix? Leave the lids off or at least poke some air holes in there. Let the food breathe! The flavors were solid, but the texture was completely ruined. Please, for the love of crispy goodness, set the food free!

The "world famous shrimp plate" was a must, and it did not disappoint! Such a hefty tray, enough to feed 4 or more people, packed with so much flavor that it was hard to stop eating even when I got full, also had potatoes & veggies mixed in, and came with some garlic bread. We got the whole tilapia fried, and some clam chowder as well. Overall, a solid delicious satisfying meal. If you love seafood, a must try.On top of that, the service was great, quick and smooth system where you can either order up front with people or at any of the many tables by a QR code, the place is huge, nice and spread out, right by the water with music playing. Now the ambiance isn't the same as what it was. Since they closed the old location 2 years ago, the old grungy 'mess hall' with the large crowds of people and mariachi playing. You sort of miss the loudness of the workers calling out your orders from the PA systems and the smell of the pier by the water. But even with all that in the past now, the first bite in to the tray almost made you feel like you were back there. Definitely still worth supporting as they build to their new location.

Wanted to give this more grace since they're remodeling, but our experience was significantly more disappointing than in the past, which was already an average experience. The temporary new spot is a bunch of picnic tables with a few on the promenade with views of the harbor, which is nice but lacks the ambiance and charm of the original location - hopefully the new building that opens will have a better atmosphere. You can order on your phone and the food comes to your table, which is much more convenient than waiting it a bunch of random lines like in the past. However, that's where the good ends. It wasn't busy and still took 35 minutes for two shrimp trays and a calamari to come. The food was egregiously overpriced...$70/tray of shrimp, assorted vegetables, and garlic bread; $18 for a small takeout container of calamari, $10 fries, $4 small soda. Stadium or fancy restaurant prices without the ambiance, entertainment, or quality. The shrimp trays had good flavor and the vegetables were decent, but the shrimp, which should be top notch since they are known for the shrimp trays, were puny and mushy - tasted like old, almost spoiled shrimp. The garlic bread was also soggy which was so disappointing. The fries were surprisingly decent but portion was way to small...I feel like more fries come with the tenders at SoFi stadium than here. Overall I wouldn't return here even after they open their new building unless they improve their food quality significantly to justify the price. So disappointing for a supposed seafood institution.

I absolutely love the San Pedro fish market! I did a large vacation with our big family recently! We went to Catalina and spent an awesome time for the weekend! On the way there we stopped at San Pedro Fish market and ate! They all keep talking about that big meal! They talk about it more than they talk about our beautiful trip to Catalina! San Pedro Fish markets are wonderful for a family of eaters that loves great food, great company, great seasoning, great drinks and in our case, we enjoyed the outdoor seating! It was so fun. Can't wait to go back again.

Not the same as I remember as a child back in the 90s hopefully the new spot will be better! The taste of the sauce was under seasoned and needs improvement. We got the landing tray with added fried whole tilapia. The fish was bussin!!!

We took a weekend trip to the San Pedro Seafood Market because I was craving the flavors from our last visit. The portions seemed a bit smaller than before, especially for the price, but it was still a refreshing experience. It felt unique to enjoy a picnic-style lunch by the harbor, surrounded by cargo ships, yachts, and even a navy vessel. The staff was friendly, and while some outdoor tables lacked shade, we were able to find a shaded spot with a little searching. The outdoor restrooms were clean and well-maintained, which was a plus. The place seemed popular with families and groups.Although a bit of dust was noticeable while we ate, it's something you expect when dining outdoors. If you're looking for an intimate date spot, I'd suggest trying somewhere else.Since it was Saturday, there was live music, which you could enjoy for a fee of $25 per song, which makes sense at there's 5 musicians in the groupOne of the best options is the shrimp platter, priced at 69.99, but you mainly get potatoes, onions, tomatoes, more onions, more potatoes and a handful of shrimp. You get more shrimp at the boiling crab at a better price.Worst part is that they are now charging $25 for limited parking, which used to be free.
