Playas Ceviche & Tortas

I used to come here a few times over summer while I was taking classes at lbcc and the food was great.I came here recently and ordered mix ceviche and a horchata and the horchata tasted like it was going bad cause it was kind of sour. The worker gave me a replacement which I got was Jamaica drink that tasted fine. I was excited to eat my ceviche and midway discovered this short hair tangled in which made me lose my appetite :(

After reading the Yelps, I couldn't wait to try this ceviche. You get a large mound of perfectly cooked seafood (only the crab is imitation) in a marinade of lime juice and whatever juice leeches out from the seafood, diced tomatoes and diced cucumber. There was more seafood than veggies of course making this dish an excellent value. The two thick crispy tostadas and deep red picante sauce on the side rounded it all out.

Great place for ceviche and tacos. The fellas who run the place are very kind. There are a lot of charming decorations around.

I'm unsure what happened, but Playas has gone downhill. I picked up tortas this week. They were made with different bread and very little fillings. The chips that were included were stale, not fresh. My partner didn't even finish hers. So, it seems like the ingredients have changed in the last few months. This stinks because Playas used to be a reliable lunch spot!

Super hole in the wall Mexican eatery with delicious food! Directions from the Long Beach airport took us about 1/2 away and we walked all over before find the place. I got a ceviche cocktail and my friend got a chorizo quesadilla. The ceviche was light and refreshing. Plenty of seafood and veggies. Nice citrusy flavor. I chose tostadas for my ceviche and it only came with 2, so had to buy 2 extra ones for an added fee. 4 tostadas was the perfect amount for the amount of ceviche in the schooner. My friends quesadilla had a bold smoky flavor that she quite enjoyed. But she needed more sour cream than what came on the plate. The person behind the register was very friendly and efficient. Food came out quickly.

Amazing food with great portions. Quality of the food is right on and they don't skimp on the good stuff! We got tacos and a massive burrito and both hit the spot. We couldn't help but take home a pound of their shrimp ceviche and I'll have to say, it's pretty damn good. Super fresh

This place has consistently good Tortas. My favorite is the pork adobo. It has the right meat to bread ratio and is simply dressed with mayos, jalapeños, lettuce , and tomatoes. They don't put beans thank goodness which many places do. I haven't had anything else here yet but my husband likes the shrimp cocktail. They also have specials which can't be found on their regular menu. I need to try those. The service is always friendly and efficient. It's a small place but fine for a quick bite I prefer to pick up. My only complaint is that this restaurant closes too early - 4:00 - which means I can't pick anything up for dinner.

Food Review: I've been here a handful of times and each time the food was excellent. It was fresh and wasn't fishy at all so I definitely recommend the fish ceviche. I usually get it spicy and they do not skimp on the spice. IT'S HOT but soooo good!! Also, I've asked them a couple times to add in some mangos and it makes it 100/10!! I've also tried their al pastor torta and it was an 8/10. It was super juicy but it could definitely use a little more flavor. Not bad though.Service: As for the service, I've never had a bad experience. The girl working the last time I was there was very nice and I wish I got her name but she was super helpful and gave me extra tostadas and utensils.

Tasty tortas! I like the tostadas too. Don't pass on the ceviche, the shrimp is great. Can be tough to park around meal times and watch business hours cause they close at 4!
