Pepper Lunch

If I had just tried the classic beef pepper rice, Pepper Lunch honestly would have gotten a 5/5 from me, because I wouldn't see any reason to dock it points. The beef pepper rice is pretty flavorful for what it is, and as someone who likes their food to be the most optimal temperature, I love that the sizzling plate keeps it hot for the whole meal.But I ordered the tofu, veggies, and kimchi pepper rice and it was a big letdown! The carrots and green beans, which made up a big portion of the dish, were steamed from frozen. If they had been fresh veggies it would have been great, but I just couldn't enjoy the meal with limp green beans and soggy carrots. The kimchi flavor was pretty good and the mushrooms were fresh which is a plus, but the rest of the veggies were really ruining the whole dish.So my tip to you is...skip any of the plates with vegetables in it! They won't be fresh. The tofu veggie kimchi pepper lunch is like a 2/5. But the beef pepper rice is a 4.5/5 simple and casual meal.

Came here around 1:30 PM on a Tuesday, and it wasn't too busy. Plenty of parking in the plaza, so no issues there. Ordering was quick and easy at the front, and there were plenty of seats available. My food also came out fairly quickly. I got a regular Beef Pepper Rice (4/5)--flavor was great, but the portion felt a bit small, especially the amount of beef. Not sure if getting a large means more beef or just more rice, but I'd probably go for the large next time just to be safe. Service was excellent! The staffs were really attentive and kind. As for ambiance, it's more of a fast-food-style spot, so I don't really have much to say there.Overall, I'd rate it 4/5. Solid little spot. Great for lunch! I always get their beef pepper rice. Full of flavor and always fresh!The sizzling stone plate they serve your food in creates the best crispy rice if you let it sit a bit and eat from the top. If you're looking for no frills and all flavor stop in!Parking at the plaza can be crazy on the weekends, but weekdays aren't so bad. Parking structure in the back if you can't find any near the establishment.

Came here for dinner saw this spot and the sizzling smell drag us to this place. Great automated ordering food tastes good and good ambiance

Keep in mind that this restaurant is in diamond Jamboree Plaza so parking here can be kind of a nightmare sometimes. However food is pretty solid and comes out petty quick. The food portions may be a bit small for some people but it was perfect portion size for me. Another caveat is that the food comes out sizzling hot so you should expect to smell like food when you leave the restaurant.

We were here around 1pm on about Saturday. We only stood in line for about 5-7 minutes. We ordered and seriously as soon as I got back from washing my hands, my food was there! Be careful food stays hot for awhile! I love how my rice got crispy the longer I left it on the skillet. We sat closer to the entrance so I was able to look at the interactive menu. Try the two sauces on the table. They are both good. One was a garlic and the other was a brown sugar. Can't wait to go back again. My first experience was in Japan...I was shocked to see they had one here. They need one in San Diego.

Had to have this for lunch with the girls on our first day to visit. It's been a fave from Japan and we've been missing it! Got the regular pepper lunch and it hit the spot! Soo good! Service was fast and we got there on time before the line got long. We sat outside because we didn't want to smell like food lol.

We got here a few minutes before they opened and there was already a line! However, we ordered, sat and got our food within just 10 minutes of opening. I got the tofu and veggie kimchi pepper rice which was delicious! I decided to add an egg and it made it even yummier. Next time I'll try the beef pepper rice but we will definitely be back.

I don't often write reviews, but I felt like I had to after my experience here!If you are ever in the area, you need to stop by this Pepper Lunch! I came here with my family for dinner and we couldn't have enjoyed it more! The ambiance was perfect for the occasion - laid back with delicious food!I am huge on the quality of food and even bigger on the service. Mel was super helpful and welcoming to us all. She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of - it felt like I was having dinner at my mothers! I will definitely be back to try even more things on the menu!

I ordered the Chicken Pepper Rice and the server, Jonathan was super helpful and kind. It was my very first time eating at this place and I can definitely say that his awesome customer service has me wanting to come back. Overall, the environment was really welcoming and warm. I definitely would recommend.
