Panxa Cocina, located in Long Beach's Belmont Heights neighborhood, offers a delightful brunch experience with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior is comfortable and tastefully decorated. The brunch menu features a variety of dishes. I selected the New Mexico Skillet. Steak n eggs cooked perfectly. Girlfriends selected the Chilaquiles Roja and Fry Bread Taco w/short rib... scrumptious!!!Prices are reasonable, making it an accessible option for those looking to explore unique Southwestern dishes. The restaurant's location in a residential area adds to its charm. Only bad thing is the PARKING. We had to park a block down.. bummer.Overall, I'd go again and try more delicious food.

My wife's family on her mother's side originally came from Spain and migrated to the United States and settled in Hurley New Mexico. So, when I started dating my wife, she introduced me to her mom's side of the family who was raised reading New Mexican Cuisine like, NM Enchiladas which are stacked then topped between each layer were Pan seared corn tortillas, onion, cheddar cheese and a heaping scoop of NM Red Chile. Then, it was cooked in the microwave (modern version) to melt everything together, then a fried egg or two was placed on top. You gotta crack the yolk all over the stacked enchilada. Upon, arriving I snapped a photo of the exterior, which had an old vibe to it but the interior was very modern. We were greeted with a smile by the hostess and we got to pick our seating. Our server didn't come right away but a hung lady who was helping the server came and took our order. I had my mind set already on the Stacked Enchilada (always have to compare to my wife's family) and my wife ordered the Fry Bread Taco (very reminiscent of being on the reservation in NM). While our orders were sent off, we opted in getting two appetizers: the Goat Cheese Stuffed Squash Blossoms and the Green Chile Cornbread. Luckily for us, the two appetizers came out first and we got to digging in and they were absolutely delicious! Packed with flavor and a good portion for two people. We were getting excited for our Entrees...as they came, not only did they look appetizing, they were absolutely scrumpdilliumous! We were very happy with everything we ordered! We will definitely be coming back here again to try more dishes.4.5 out of 5 stars...minus, 0.5 for lackluster service from our main server. But the female who originally took our order was a saving grace.Give them a try!

Panxa Cocina serves New Mexico inspired food. This is not "Modern Mexican" or "New" Mexican style. These are dishes (Navajo Taco, Frito Pie, Posole) and ingredients (Hatch, Chimayó, Blue Corn) unique to the state itself. This is one of a handful of New Mexico restaurants in Southern California. We were seated on the patio immediately and Destiny was very attentive during the meal. We had the Stacked Enchiladas with Egg and Short Rib and The Green Chile Panxa Burger. It was all delicious, mildly spicy, and very satisfying.

Service was great! Taija (I believe that was her name) was absolutely amazing. Super helpful & friendly hustled throughout that whole restaurant. She gave us a card for a free appetizer for next time. The chips, salsa & guacamole were incredible. The cornbread is a must!! The enchiladas were different but just okay. The restaurant is very cute and seems like it would be fun on a weekend night.

A low-key restaurant in the Belmont Heights neighborhood serves AMAZING happy hour dishes and drinks. I was shocked to find a standalone restaurant in this residential neighborhood. Parking was tough to find, as the restaurant does not have an assigned parking space for its guests, so the only option was street parking. What we ordered from the HAPPY HOUR menu:ELOTE TEMPURA BALLS (Sweet corn, cotija, Morita, lime, aioli, paprika) - My favorite item on the happy hour menu. If you are looking for something sweet, these fried balls will DELIGHTFULLY melt in your mouth. CHICKEN CHIMICHANGA (Shredded chicken, cheese, pico hatch chili, Chimayo, chili, crema) - SUPERB mini fried burrito with fantastic hatch chili sauce smothered all over the plate that makes your mouth dance with each bite. SHORT RIB TAQUITOS (3) (short rib, shredded lettuce, pico, crema, hatch, and Chimayo chile)--This item is not about the meat but all about the sauce. Those dual hatch and Chimayo chile sauces were out-of-this-world delicious. The dual sauce taste countered and balanced really well. Also, the taquitos were fried incredibly well. CEVICHE TOSTADA (white fish, Morita, cilantro, cabbage, pico) - Interesting ceviche uses cooked white (fish) meat instead of raw seafood. Overall, I enjoyed this item but lacked the definition of a traditional ceviche. PIZZA PORT Beer (Ale) - $2 discount during Happy Hour. Cheers to that!

Food and ambience is cool but pricing is a little high. I've been here for an event and lunch before. Panxa Cocina specailizes in new Mexican cuisine which includes chilaquiles, quiches, eggs benedicts, and even burgers. Their foods are pretty and and always beautifully presented. They also have an awesome drink menu with margaritas and cocktails. The last time I came here I got their chilaquiles which came with eggs cooked any way you like. I thought it was pretty good. I also had a smokey mango margarita which was enjoyable. The inside of this place is cute and casual. It's a great spot to meet up with friends or family and hang out. It has a great vibe and they have a cool bar area. The staff is always really nice and helpful. Overall its a cool spot to grab brunch or lunch.

Came here for brunch. There were a few tables that were occupied so we were able to choose where we wanted to sit. They had a variety of mimosas which was good, we got a bottle and mixed and matched. They have a full bar which was empty cause again we were there during the week for brunch.... Food was ok. Parking is kinda hard to find. They have outdoor seating so it's doggo friendly.

A solidly decent bowl of red pozole. Great flavor, large helping. Lots of pork and herbs floating around in the oddly flat bowl. A bit spendy at $19 but probably the better bow of pozole I've had in a while,

I've been going to Panxa for several years and enjoyed it. This evening I ordered something new, the schnitzel. I should have sent it back immediately as it was black. But I was hungry and thought it was supposed to look like that. Nope, it was burnt. When the nice waitress came back I did complain, at the same time I had my rewards card on my cell phone. She took it away and returned with the "manager". The manager, who said she was the owner, started yelling at me. And, I said a few words back. She told us to leave and stood with the door open. I'm not sure if she was the owner, widow of the original chef/ owner, but she was very rude. At that point I was too but it was really out of line for a restaurant.

We came with a party of 6 for dinner in a Sunday, it was slow and we didn't have any issues getting reservations. Our server was nice and patient as we asked multiple questions around the table. The food was food. I had the prawns which were really tasty, a little spicy, though for the price I was hoping to at least have one or two more of the prawns. There are only 3 on this dish. My boyfriend had the steak and fries and loved it! Others had different types of enchiladas, which were food. Overall a nice experience and I would recommend it.
