Ortega's Fish & Grill

Great spot for some latin seafood. They have a large menu and good space for groups. The service was kind and quick. We ordered the aguachile and it was so spicy for me that I couldn't finish it. They serve breakfast all day. Parking can be tricky in this area. It's in a plaza with a lot of other businesses.

This place is nearby and we have been curious. We stopped in and were pleasantly surprised. My husband is pescatarian and loved the whole catfish option. I ordered carne asada fries which were yummy but I will say I wish it was shredded cheese instead of nacho cheese sauce. Nothing fancy inside, but very welcoming. Good took about 30 min, no big deal for a whole fried catfish. We will be back!

I wrote my original review in 2017, and I have still be coming here almost once a month since. The molcajete is still super delicious as is the mojarra frita, and various ceviches.I decided to write an update to talk about the breakfast platters. My go to is the Chorizo and Eggs fajitas (no cheese). It comes with chorizo, two eggs, and breakfast potatoes. Together it is super good, and makes for a super hearty breakfast platter that will fill you up. If you come of the right days, they will have hand made corn tortillas. Stop by, and give this small business a try!

I got turned onto this place back in 2007. I used to pick up a big tray of ceviche. The last time I was here is pre-COVID. Now post covid the customer service has gone down. They're not attentive, didn't bring all the food. It took us half an hour to get the bill.I ordered two tostadas one of crab and shrimp and the other fish. It did not taste good. It tastes like ketchup. I ordered a sangria. It was $4 something that I buy at the store for $1.50 not good I never got my ceviche tostada.My friend had taquitos. They were good. She liked it. I have been coming here for years for the ceviche would I come back? It's not going to be my top pick anymore.The service is bad. The tables are dirty. The place needs a deep cleaning. So does the bathroom.It will be a hit and miss if you eat here. I rather hit a spot where I know service, cleanliness, and hospitality are prioritized and good tasty seafood will be eaten. You have lost your touch Ortega's.

been living within 4miles from here & never "seen" or "realize" this place until while driving by going to work. this place has a lot of ceviche selection as well as other menus. the women behind the counters are super friendly, and are always there to answer any questions you may have. lots of chairs/tables for a nice sit-down eating while watching a few tv screens.

$4 for a 1/4 of habanero salsa. That's fucking insane. It barely even had any salsa it was disappointing :/

When I first tried this place I ordered through UberEats. Their carne asada is to die for !! The onions are delicious. But this time when I placed my order & ordered carne asada plate & shrimp ceviche. The carne was burnt to the ends. But it was a nice portion , just not good tasting. The ceviche had a very odd taste to it & it only came with 1 tostada shell.??? The shrimp got me sick the next day. I probably won't be ordering from here ever again after this sad experience..

My bf had previously tried the ceviche from here and enjoyed it. We came on Friday, unfortunately closer to closing. They still took us in. Our server took our drink order and never came back. At that point another lady took our order since they were nearing closing time. We ordered a few beers and a seafood molcajete. It was fully loaded for a great price. The quality of the seafood was good too. All in all I believe this is a hidden gem in Whittier. It's not a fancy place by any means but it has good food, cheap beer, they have various TVs all over and they were playing the lakers game.

Very delicious place to eat fish tacos are bomb also their ceviche and agua chile strongly recommend this place. The staff is nice great service.

Really nice family restaurant. I've never had a bad experience here. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. These are super nice people who you WANT to spend your $$ with. Great food for the price.
