I grew up in Japan, so I am VERY picky about Japanese food. This little restaurant is my favorite! So good, we took our friends tonight and they agreed with the hype. They even said they wanted to bring their family next time. Meh=cucumber saladTonight's nigiri wasn't packed tight enoughHighlights:Jennifer is friendly and attentive!Reasonable pricesSuper high end fish. They even have yellowtail belly!Perfect sushi rice (usually other places lose points with me in this category)Variety of rolls. Intimidating (in a good way) Crispy and light tempura, just like I grew up with!

The food was good and you got good proportions. The service was not that bad. The server we got looked like he did not want to be there. I would recommend this place

So it's Monday night. Perhaps it was an off night but everything was just a bit off. I wish I could give it a 3.5. But alas it was more 3 than 4.First, we ordered saki. But were not given glasses. We ordered sushi and it came out right away. But we were not given plates or ginger or soy sauce containers, etc. Next, the cucumber roll fell apart. Can one have too much cucumber in a roll? In our case yes. Our other rolls were fine. A nice sized portion. But I was sad when it came to our Iron Monkey. The shellfish on top was over cooked. Not awful but not the best. Finally, the gyoza were pan fried and quite good. The vibe definitely changed to classier but it also felt colder to me. I miss the kitschy nature and feel from before. It looks really nice and classy but less homey. The food is still fine and fresh. But we had to ask for EVERYTHING. To have to ask for glasses, plates, ginger and all the basics bumps a 4 star taste to a 3 star experience.

This place has long been a favorite. We come all the time and get takeout often too. Food is always excellent and service is usually fine/good. Last Tuesday we brought some friends with us for dinner, and we had a waitress we haven't seen before. She was rude! Needless to say, our friends we brought won't be back to Mika (it was their first time), and we may need to find a new regular spot too. We came around 5pm, and it wasn't busy. When I get a veggie roll (which comes with the bento combo), I always ask if they can leave out the asparagus. I've ordered this probably a hundred times over the years and never had an issue, but this waitress interrupted me and said "no substitutions." It's fine if that's their policy (which I'm not even sure is the case given my past experience), but I don't consider this a substitution--even if it's the case and she can't accommodate, there are more friendly ways to approach the situation. She also never refilled our water and never brought sauce for our tempura (4 orders of it at the table) despite us asking for it once. She was also very curt in her interactions with us--I'm fine having minimal interactions with servers (and actually prefer this), but I do expect the interactions to at least be friendly.Food was good and the same as always, but I wanted to update my review because I haven't had service this bad at any restaurant in a long time.

It had been a while since I visited Mika, and I'm disappointed to report that the service was subpar. Our waitress, Jennifer, was quite rude upon our arrival and seemed to lack basic customer service skills. She didn't acknowledge our table and appeared bothered when we asked for items, quickly walking away and leaving us to speak among ourselves. This was, unfortunately, the worst service I've experienced in quite some time. I also noticed that she provided a noticeably different level of service to her regular guests. While the food and ambiance were decent, I don't plan on returning due to the terrible service.

We came here for a late lunch. They have lunch specials but are on the pricey side. Unfortunately all their chicken is dark meat so we opted for beef teriyaki, fish katsu , hot night roll, and vegetarian yakisoba. The fish katsu was falling apart and had some dark pieces of fish. It was probably a cheap cut of fish. It came with tartar sauce so I asked for regular tonkatsu sauce and the server brought out another tarter sauce. She dropped it off and ran before I could even say that it wasn't the sauce I wanted. The yakisoba was decent and the hot night roll was good. Even though there were only 1 other table of people, service was lacking. It took the server a long time to take our order. The server and the other guy were more concerned with a table of unruly teenagers than us. One of the kids spilled their drink and the man yelled at them. It was an uncomfortable situation.

Soooo delicious! I'm very picky about my sushi since I'm kinda new to eating it. (I first started in FL and they had traditional western meats on the menu in rice lol think chicken, cooked (well done) beef) Anywho they made the most of their space inside. There's a bar to watch your food being made, few drink options traditional and beer tooBut I came for the tempura vegetables! BEST IVE HAD .. hands down. the service is fast enough t for me to order and eat on lunch break. They also have happy hour lunch menu when u dine in.. They're item menus are extensive and the presentation is so pretty! The eel sauce is delectable lol I'm pretty standard with my order- shrimp tempura roll. Super yummy. Oh I love them miso too. I can eat sooo much from here! But I pace myself with only two items for lunch lol I'll def be back here And I'll take pix BEFORE I chow down next time.

Returned this day to hopefully get better service, because the sushi itself was great. The older lady was not here this day, but I went directly to the counter to order. The same young girl as before was there but now had a sour attitude. She was staring down at her phone swiping on Facebook (yes, I stood there long enough to see what she was watching) as I walked up to the counter. She continued to look down at her phone completely ignoring me for a minute or so. Then, looked up with phone still in hand and video playing, and asked me "Are you ready to order?" with an attitude. Lowered my rating to 1 star from a 2.

The food is "adequate". Nothing special, nothing awful. The service however is a whole 'nother thing. I've tried this place 3 times over the course of a year and each and every visit was like a return to the Twilight Zone. The people who work here hate their jobs. My server leaned against the wall while staring at the TV (which was unfortunately above my head) the entire time. A second server arrived mid meal, so he transitioned behind the sushi counter and the young lady was apparently in charge of my table now. If you want something, they'll go get it, but they do not ask if you need anything, ever. Solo meal for $60 and you'd have thought I'd at least be offered a glass of water with my beer? I dine out a lot and this place is the strangest in terms of vibe?
