Casual spot that serves fresh udon noodle soups and fresh fried tempura items. I know Marugame udon has been around for many years primarily in the downtown LA area, so it's great to see a location in the South Bay. You can expect to line up near the front where you'll see the menu, and there's different udon noodle flavors some more of a traditional soup and others more a "sauce" which gives more of a strong flavorMy go to is the Nikutama - and you can order a large or regular. Today I decided to share with my husband and get a large with egg on the side since he doesn't like eggs. They'll take a portion of the udon noodles and boil it for you as they prepare your broth of choice. I ask for the tempura and green onion toppings. The next steps is more or self service of assorted tempura options. I always get the potato croquette, but really love their shrimp tempura, zucchini and sweet potato tempura. I like their egg tamago tempura but it is more of a sweet egg taste, as a heads up. I've had their matcha in the past and it's nice and refreshing, good as a once in a while treat since it's $4.50. Once I pay for my meal, I grab their tempura sauce and put it in a sauce bowl. It will be served warm. Love going here for a casual lunch or dinner - to me it's a great first date spot or a place to go with others, or even by yourself. You can stay as long or as short as you need to. Close to the del amo mall and has easy parking. I signed up for their reward program since I am a returning customer. Excited to come back soon!

Marugame Udon in the South Bay!? Yesssss! This location is located in Village Del Amo with a good amount of parking available for the two to three businesses that share the lot with Marugame. Interior is large with ample amount of seating both indoors and outdoors. For this visit I decided to get my usual, the curry nikutama (regular $14.65 large $15.95). These handmade udon noodles are large, tender, and super tasty especially when topped with curry. Order comes topped with sweet beef; tempura flakes; soft boiled egg; and sprinkled with green onions. The flavor gods are here! Everything about this dish complements each other and the amount of noodles you get for the price, is unbeatable. The variety of sides / tempura items is minimal at this location when compared to other such has the Waikīkī, Hawai'i location off Kūhio! Overall, delicious meal for an affordable price. You won't be disappointed!

I've never been to Marugame Udon before. Sidenote, I'm not a fan of udon noodles. I'm not sure why, but just never really been a fan of them. Maybe to me, it's just too much noodle and not enough flavor. Maybe it's I've had bland broth or something with them. However, I saw they have a curry option and I thought to myself ok, that'll help the flavor of the noodles. And I was correct in my assumption! When I walked in, I wasn't expecting, more or less, a QSR/Chipotle-style setup. You order at the counter and your bowl is constructed in a cafeteria-like factory setup. It works, it's fast, it's efficient. I decided on the large curry nikutama because the curry noodles just looked like noodles and curry. I wanted some stuff in there. It was definitely on point. Good flavor (although I do wish the curry was far thicker, but I think maybe it's setup as a runny curry on purpose, almost soup-like) and it really helped give life to the noodles. I devoured the bowl. It did need some heat so I added some togarashi peppers to give it that extra punch. I wish hot oil was a more common condiment in Japanese cuisine, but the togarashi peppers will do.I went with my SO and MIL and they got regular sized bowls. While bowl was functionally larger, it didn't look like that much more was added vs my SO's bowl, which looked like it was about to spillover. Maybe next time I'll just get the regular.

Came on a Friday night for an early dinner. Small line but moves pretty quickly.I ordered the miso udon and my wife got rice and chicken katsu. Not a lot of seating inside but we were able to grab a table. Some tables outside and a small play area as well, which is useful for little ones. Food was flavorful and filling. Portion sizes are decent. We tried their different fried potatoes too and they were both pretty good. Would probably go back if we were in the mood for udon or ramen, but it's not usually our go to cuisine. I think if you love that stuff this place would be more for you. Worth checking it out if you're in the area. Hope you enjoy!

One of the best udon spots in Torrance! They share tons of parking with other businesses, so parking may vary. Tons of seating available and some GREAT FOOD! I typically get the regular nikutama udon but the Curry Udon is by far the best! I had ordered a Large to go and it came with tons of Beef and Noodles! They also have fried "Tempura" items that you could order! I recommend the Chicken Katsu or even the Tamago (Egg Omlette) Tempura! Workers are always friendly as well!

One of my new favorite spots to grab food! I've come on a weekend before and they are super busy and I've come on a weekday around 4pm and it was just about dead. I got the large and for the price it fills you up really good. I've always had their matcha and it honestly so good. I'd even compare it to being better than other local coffee shops. This place needs to be your go to spot! Service is amazing, food is bomb and the price makes it even better!

Service is great and udon quality similar to other locations except I thought broth could have been a little hotter. My main concern is the tempura quality. I remember from prior experiences even years ago in HI and Sawtelle the tempura is set on racks. The tempura here is resting in hot trays with no airflow beneath it to dry into a crisp. Instead most tempura was soft and soggy. This isn't a good representation of marugame's typical quality. They let me order a fresh squid stick but unfortunately also putting it into a paper tray became soft and soggy at my table. Other than this location is large with plenty of searing and parking.

I was hesitant to try this place. I'm not an udon fan. I find most udon to be not worth my time and effort. Even though the components can be tasty. I find udon unwieldy and slippery. Just not cooperative! Though I'm proficient with chopsticks, I find that my chopstick skills are lacking when udon is in the table! The resto is large and there's plenty of seating. Ordering is quite efficient. You order your udon at the first person and they prepare / assemble while you are in line. Next, you encounter the fried food section and pick your items. Last stop is the cashier and you can order drinks and additional items from the cashier. Once you pay, head to the condiments counter to get what you need. Since we were eating a late lunch, there was plenty of seating so no issue finding a table. We truly enjoyed our meal even though I had to cut the udon down to size. Oh, the horror! I'm sure the udon spirits were upset with me but i enjoyed the meal!Nikutama - this was so flavorful. I crusty finished the whole bowl!Tonkotsu - this was familiar and so comforting. I stole a few bites from my husband!Green bean tempura - crunchy. Mmm!Calamansi-ade - refreshing! The verdict - udon isn't the bad guy. We'll try it again! Enjoy!

So happy they opened up in Torrance! Ordering is streamlined cafeteria style and it's pretty efficient. If you're stuck on what to order you can't go wrong with the Nikutama (Tip: they serve it hot or cold and I get it cold in the summer and it's very refreshing). The noodle is the right amount of chewy texture that I love. Once you get your bowl, you can slide right over and be tempted by the display of crispy tempura to complement your meal. Plenty of parking, great food, and best of all: self service water station!!!

Fast casual udon at good prices and portions. Got their classic curry nikutama and tonkatsu, the curry flavor was great can't go wrong with either! Also got a sweet potato tempura which was stellar, I would skip the squid tempura though. I liked that it's self service for the tempura and you can get grab just one of whichever you like. Plenty of seating inside and out, solid choice for lunch on a sunny day.
