Mariscos La Chula - Downey

A client of mine in South Gate sent me here for horchata. Yes, she told me that this place has the "best horchata" that she would drive 15 minutes from South Gate to Downey. She told me that they grind the rice and canela for their horchata here.The place was busy for being around 4 pm on a Friday for their happy hour deals on alcoholic beverages.My client also told me to try their fish tacos which are only 99 cents on Tuesdays and Fridays. It might be good to call if you're after this fish taco deal as I am not sure if they have this all the time.This is the first time fish tacos were served at room temperature. After I ordered at the counter, I went to the restroom, waited to use it. When I finished using the restroom, the fish tacos came out straight away from the kitchen with my horchata, side of chips, and salsa.I took one bite and it was room temperature and it didn't seem to come straight out of the fryer. Maybe it sat for a while I was waiting to use the restroom? It was a solid tasting fish taco if it was hot. I don't know if I can knock them for room temperature fish tacos because I went to the restroom and had to wait to use it because there were two girls inside it.The place has a party vibe because of the alcoholic beverages and the loud reggaeton music.Go for their horchata, party vibes, happy hour drinks, and if you're lucky....fresh out of the fryer fish tacos for 99 cents (when they have this deal on Tuesdays and Fridays).

fish Tacos .99 cents are back on Tuesday. The portion you get is good for .99 cents but not for regular price. Didn't like the can sodas only. They have lunch specials that look good and a good happy hour. Salsa and chips are good. The ladies were helpful.Sat outside. It was good weather so it was nice.

Food was great!! Service was kind and attentive!! I really enjoy coming in on Tuesdays for taco Tuesdays!!Also come in on Thursday for the oysters .

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE MANGO CEVICHE 10/10 so flavorful it was perfect. :) The service was great the waitresses are very nice. And the decor is pretty simple and chill.

They have some great food here. Camrones a la Diabla are super spicy. One complaint is the micheladas suck. They don't taste good but the food does. Also other mixed drinks that are on the menu are pretty good. Service is pretty standard. And the ambiance is pretty chill for a brunch at noon.

The service is excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The marisco's ordered were delicious. The downfall was that the DJ was extremely loud. I could barely hear the conversations I was having. The music was so loud it felt like I was at a club.

Parking is tight. Our Server was nice as we were greeted once drinks were served she was long gone for about 25 mins.. she was nice but very inattentive. Our food was served as accordingly. Food is good.. nothing really stood out.the Michilada flight was good to choose from but also we had ask the server which was which since it was just dropped at our table then left. Overall this is an ok outdoor/indoor restaurant.. my odds of coming BK are slimBut thank you t.

I came here for the first time and had an awesome experience! Abigail was the best, super friendly and attentive. The food was great, we had no complaints. Definitely will be coming back.

The fish tacos gave me extremely severe food poisoning from this Mariscos La Chula restaurant in Downey. It is incredibly vital that the establishment knows there was a problem because it could be that staff needs more training or it's a sign that someone isn't maintaining the hygiene and food safety standards. This is the second and the only time I got food poisoning here. It was such a terrible experience and of course I will never return to this restaurant.
