Recently I reviewed Monarca's restaurant in Harbor City. Maria's is what Monarcas could be if they tried to improve in the area of appearance and food quality. At Maria's I tried the French Toast combo breakfast (no extra charge for ordering breakfast after 11 am, unlike Monarca's, which adds $2.00 for this honor).The meal consisted of four large slices of French toast, two eggs and four sausages for $15.99. The food quality is great, the service was good, and the place is small but very clean and upkeep is very good.

Maria's menudo tripe hominy soup with added oregano, cilantro, onions, three slices of squeezed limes, and a cup of steaming freshly made (as with everything else) salsa verde green sauce is a thick stew that makes for a fine meal with corn tortillas hot off the griddle. Benjie my friend had fish and chips with a small extra charge for salad, too, but he was very happy with the generous avocado pieces. And he always loves his fish and fries, including today. I always didn't balk at Maria's competitively South Bay prices for Mexican food because I know they apply precepts of the Slow Food Movement with their quality recipes and ingredients, especially with the slow cooked beans which to me are like red Mexican caviar or pate, (not kidding) and the care with which these foods are prepared farm to table. So I know in LA where my mind's time warp might be stuck in the early 2000's I would think, "A good burrito can set you back 8$" and then at Maria's it's with tax 17$ perhaps. But it tastes so good. And it's so fulfilling. The portions are generous for breakfast, lunch or dinner specials. If you want to bulk up on protein a meal here is the way to go. If you figure that for an adult it will be, for non fast food, 15$ to 20$ a meal, you won't leave hungry. A different reviewer was telling the story that he got into a car accident and the people of this restaurant helped him by giving him food and telling him to wait for help inside their store. So that is also all kinds of awesome. I've been going to Maria's for about five years and the food and service just gets better with time. Their ambiance is always cheery and kid friendly especially on all holidays, making things special. Maria's Mexican Restaurant in San Pedro is on 22nd Street off Pacific Avenue.

I got this delivered for dinner. This burrito is so packed full of meat that is tender and juicy. The rice and beans are authentic and absolutely delicious. You know it's good when you look forward to the leftovers the next day. It came with chips and two salsas (one red one green) for free.

Good Mexican food!We always hit this place when we're staying at the Double Tree Hilton in San Pedro before our cruises. Nothing fancy but the service is great if you choose to dine in. We've also ordered takeout and brought our food to our hotel. Huge variety of Mexican dishes and natural juices! Breakfast-Lunch-DinnerVery laidback atmosphere Glad to support this local family business!

This place used to be so good I don't know what happened. I don't live in San Pedro anymore but I saw it pop up on Uber Eats so I ordered a chicken mole burrito. The burrito was a regular chicken burrito with zero mole anywhere to be found. It all tasted like flavorless slop and their red salsa which used to be spicy and thick was red water in a cup. Look elsewhere.

Bomb just home made food . I've tried every thing on this menu and everything is delicious. The mariscos we can work ok but everything else is so good ! the restaurant is ran by family and you can see the love . I have two ASD and ADHD kids and they made them feel wonderful as well . Will definitely keep coming here

I ordered chicken soup. I attached a pic of what I received instead. I called back and spoke to Mattie on the telephone. She was super rude and not helpful. If I wanted to eat intestines I would have ordered that. However all I wanted was chicken soup. I would say stay far away from this place. I should have looked at the reviews before ordering. If you are deciding between this place and another option. I would choose the other option. Also - Mattie should not interact with customers, again she is super rude.
