I've been here twice now, lucky me! The food is of very good quality and wonderful to taste. The servers are helpful and knowledgeable. Recommend the Hamachi and that Mango Jalapeno sorbet plus short ribs (veal cheeks if they have it), Amelia Salad is so crisp and refreshing. Bone marrow octopus is also really good. Duck is okay in my opinion, not my favorite but that's because I prefer Asian style duck. Don't get the steak. It's okay but there are other places to get the steak. Apple tarte is perfectly light to finish the meal.Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful experience at Marche Moderne! I enjoyed the ambiance, service, and food quality. Jeremy was our server and he was very attentive to our table. He also made recommendations on wine based on the food that we ordered. We chose two different wine that he had recommended. The bread and butter to start out our meal was delicious. I loved how the butter was made in house. The butter melted immediately when placed on the warm bread. The steak and fries was delicious. The steak was tender and great quality. The fries were fresh. We also ordered the lobster entree, which I highly recommend! The lobster was juicy and felt like it just came straight from the ocean. The asparagus soup that came with the lobster was an interesting touch. If you are looking for a romantic night out with great service and quality food, I highly recommend coming here for the experience. You won't regret it!

Wrote a review about a year ago, let me update. Food: Still outstanding Service: Still outstanding Consistency in the above: Outstanding If you have never been here do yourself a favor and make a reservation. It won't be your cheapest meal out but it will be one that is well worth it.

The restaurant is upscale but quite cramped. A lot of tables are placed very close together, and it can be quite noisy and uncomfortable with people hearing each other's conversations. I believe the food here is meant to have some modern take on French cuisine. Almost every dish relied heavily on sauces. We ordered grilled octopus and bone marrow for starters and coq au vin and filet mignon for entrees. Grilled octopus was the worst dish of the entire meal. It was drenched in so much sauce that it masked the flavor of the octopus completely. Bone marrow was tasty but very saucy. The chicken in the coq au vin was dry and very salty. Filet mignon was tender and cooked perfectly, but the sauce tasted burned and was very salty. Desserts and drinks were good and probably the highlight of the meal. Service could have been better. The busboys were very friendly and courteous, but our waiter wasn't as friendly nor as attentive. Our table and the table next to us had to raise our hands to get his attention. I wouldn't come back here since food is overall just okay and really nothing great especially for the price point.

We ordered the 4 meal tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was phenomenal. It's just an explosion of flavors in my mouth!! The service was great. Alan was assigned to our table and he explained to us every dish that we get. We can't ask for more in terms of ambiance. I felt I was back in Paris. We had an unforgettable great anniversary experience in Marche Moderne. We'll definitely come back especially for their seasonal tasting menu. Mercí beau coup.

Wonderful dining experience at this contemporary French spot in a Newport Beach strip mall. It's not new but the chef and his team really have made it a place where you can snack on classic French items or opt for some more modern interpretations. The menu is ample for all types of eaters and their wine list is spectacular. The staff is also super attentive. My husband and I shared a bunch of appetizers. He had the duck for his main which was spot on. The fish special sounded good but it was the only miss of the evening. It was overcooked which was disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber. Still... if you're looking for a nice spot with a good vibe, and really lovely food and service, Marche ticks most boxes.

Our family recently dined at Marché Moderne a couple of weeks ago to celebrate Thanksgiving, and experienced an enjoyable 6-course tasting menu. The French cuisine was elegant and well-executed. The lobster course, with its delicate sauce and perfectly tender meat, was the highlight. The tuna course was equally impressive, featuring a refined balance of flavors that showcased the quality of the ingredients. The dessert was inventive and very good, a delightful combination of classic French pastry techniques with modern twists. However, the sweetbread course was personally not to my taste, though it was prepared with the same care as the other dishes. The duck was just okay, well-cooked but lacking the depth of flavor found in the other courses. The plating was very nice--see pictures uploaded with my review. Each dish was a visual delight. The ambiance was nice, and the service was very friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. Parking can be difficult, but they offer valet service, which is a convenient option. Overall, Marché Moderne is a recommendable spot for a special occasion, particularly for those who appreciate fine French cuisine.

This restaurant is beautiful and the food is amazing. I loved the seafood here, especially the bouillabaisse and oysters. The short rib was just okay, but other than that everything was perfect. Service was wonderful and staff is really kind.

Came here earlier this week and had a lovely time. The restaurant is located in Crystal Cove next to A's, so it's definitely a more upscale vibe. The restaurant is really nice with two different rooms, we sat in a booth with a nice view outside. Service overall was good, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. What I wasn't too thrilled about was the constant upselling we experienced, a couple examples of this include our waiter doubling our Salad Amelia order when we explicitly ordered only 1 (I didn't know he did this until I thanked him for splitting the salad for us and he told me he'd gone and ordered us one each), and then our waiter urging us to add the shaved fish to my wife's scallops because it "absolutely makes the dish" (it was good but definitely overhyped and could've been omitted). I also wasn't thrilled that they were charging for bread and butter but offering it as if it was included, but it was fantastic bread and butter so it was worth the additional charge. The meal overall was quite good, here's what we ordered:Bread: Delicious as mentioned aboveSalad Amelia: Really fresh and tasty, I'd argue it was slightly overdressed, but it was still good nonetheless Clams & Scallops: My wife loved the dish, the broth was delicious and the Scallops and Clams were both cooked very wellFilet: The filet was well cooked, and the pan sauce was very rich. I'd say the fries were probably my favorite part, as they were basically perfect and reminded me of an elevated McDonald's fry in the best way possible. The watercress salad was a bit overdressed as well. The dish definitely needed some more acidity because it was all very rich, but still a good dish.Jalapeño Pineapple mocktail: These were fine, definitely looked better than they tasted as it was essentially concentrated juice mixed together. Overall, this was a good meal and I'd come back to try some other items on the menu. Now that I have a sense of what to expect, I'd definitely be more prescriptive in how I order to avoid any confusion as well. I'd say this was a 3.5/5 experience, but it absolutely has the potential to be better in the future.
