I bought this small sushi grade tuna chuck for $25.20. It was 1.4 lbs and I purchased it at $18/pound. Maybe only half of it was edible as other areas where you see the dark color weren't edible or had a lot of cellular walls. He offered me a center belly piece at $25/pound but I found that a bit expensive so I went with this piece. All in all, I think it's cheaper just to go to a sushi or poke restaurant for your fish cravings. I won't be returning I felt the prices were no cheaper and some more expensive than the grocery store in my opinion.

A few years ago i began coming to los angeles fish market. However, over the years, prices continue to rise and quality is falling. The grade a uni is no longer guaranteed grade a and is now 75$ a box. I no longer recommend coming here for fresh and affordable seafood.

There is a wonderful selection of fish and oysters here. Specifically I come here to pick up sashimi grade hamachi and salmon. Honestly the pricing is wonderful at about $15-$17/per lb for frozen fillets of fish. I want to come back to buy some uni and more fish to grill next time. I wish I could buy more but my fridge is tiny!! It is recommended that you come early because there is more stuff, but I always end up coming around 10-11 am and there is still a decent selection. So you grab a number and you ask someone for the fish that you want. They'll grab you the stuff and prep it (pack with ice and stuff). You can bring your ice box but they an ice chip machine here so you can fill 'er up here. Then the ladies in the glass window will call your number so you can pay with them. I believe it is cash only. Parking - Free lot! with lots of spaces! Will definitely be back soon.

Haru is the man! From start to finish, he made sure we had everything we needed. A truly patient man. A++++ for customer service. Will return on the sole basis of Haru. The haul:Kumamoto Oysters, from Washington, 5 dozen in a box ... about $2.25 each. So pricey. When shucking them, about 7 of them were empty and a few ppl said they had a bad one. But a lot of people said they enjoyed them. So hit or miss here. Hokkaido Scallops, wild. About $40 a box. Buttery, great texture, crowd pleaser. People wanted more.Uni from hokkaido. About $60 a box - we topped the scallops with this and their black tobiko - so good! Black Tobiko (caviar) $18 per box - they have all different colors. I wanted the red one but they sold out. So got black instead. Fresh/great quality. Tako (Octopus), $20 per LB - we used some for ceviche and some grilled dipped with their Yuzu Pepper sauce. To die for!Salmon (loin, sashimi grade), from Norway. About $20 per LB. Really good quality, also a crowd pleaser. Tuna, bluefin ($20 a pound for tail end) - suggest you call ahead to order the belly portion. I got the tail end and it was meh. Disappointed. Wear closed toe shoes, call ahead if you want specifics, they take credit card, bring your own cooler, but if not...they pack everything really nicely for you and even provide ice!

Went early to get oysters. Got there at 6am and got a bag of 10 dozen for $1.10 each ($132). Not bad. They encourage you to bring your own cooler. They also have really good flake ice too. They also had uni. I'm not sure it was a good deal ($70), but I got it anywDon't forget to wear closed toed shoes.

I think once is enough. Personally, I believe it way overrated and WAY WAY WAY OVERPRICED. Well, it's partially my own fault for not asking the price first. BUT, $43/lb for Geoduck is absolutely unreasonable. it's less than $20/lb at any local market. I was hoping live fish and Geoduck, but no. It's really not worth it. If any one wants fresh seafood, just get it from any Chinese market.

Although the people working there were friendly (enough), the selection is very limited. Most of the fishes were gone when I got there at 8am.

This place is a real find! They are SO careful and attentive about their fish and it shows in the quality of the product. When I see all the precautions they take with a refrigerated display room and ice-ice-ice on everything, not to mention mandatory masks and gloves, I can hardly bring myself to ever buy fish from a supermarket counter again. Of course the downside are their hours, extremely unfriendly to late risers like us, and the fact that most products have to be bought in large quantities and our freezer is only so big. However, it's worth dealing with this in terms of the excellent quality and excellent prices.I have seen some negative comments in the reviews about prices which i really can't understand. In my experience their prices are extremely competitive, particularly when you buy in bulk.A few tips that took me a while to figure out. We order by phone and pay with a credit card over the phone before we pick up our order, which smooths out any problems with the ordering process. They do an excellent job filleting, and if you ask them in advance to fillet any of their whole fish (we usually do this with branzino) they will take care of this before you pick up your order. Finally, we always place our order through "Ismael," we gave up on the person who answered the phone when that person said they had never heard of swordfish (probably a language barrier but still . . . .)All in all, I highly recommend Los Angeles Fish Company to any fish lover.
