First off, I've been eating at Lac Viet easily 15+ times since its inception. In the beginning, they had consistency issue, but the food was generally great especially at the $11.99 price point. I went there at least 3 times every week with friends & family. We all loved it. Then they hit a rough patch where the food sucked bad. The last straw was the inedible pork ribs that's probably been marinated in sadness, and the smelly fried shrimp cake. That was my cue to stay away. But let's be real, 11.99 for cơm tấm? You just can't resist that kind of deal, especially with how expensive food is around Bolsa. So, I ventured back 3 weeks ago and ate there 6 times since then. I'm happy to report back that they have fixed the consistency issue. The quality is top-notch once again. What I love the most about Lac Viet is how well-priced and simple the menu is. Some people might not like the limited options, but hey, I don't need to read a book before ordering. Furthermore, specialty Vietnamese coffee for $3.45? That's basically a crime not to order. You'll be hard pressed to find that anywhere else in Bolsa. The service here is pretty typical of Vietnamese spots. They bring you food and leave you alone. Though, the other day I was hit with a "Chúc anh ngon miệng". I was like wtf? Did I just get a blessing? I've never felt so honored to eat cơm tấm in my life. Appreciated that though.Bottom line: if you're craving quality cơm tấm without bankrupting yourself, Lac Viet's got your back. Thanks for coming to my TED talk!

Lac Viet Concepts. Smart Business Concepts.Good foods. Reasonable prices. Who wouldn't like that?Love to swing by here to pickup some to go orders. Their grilled/bbq pork is always delicious. Service also good here.Note: this location does not have all the snacks, spring rolls, sticky rice, curry chicken, etc. like their other location. Basic broken rice and grilled meats and tea are their staple.Banh mi is $5/each.

Checked out Lac Viet Concept after spotting it on the way to lunch. We were early, so we decided to stop by and see what they had. It seems like they're in a soft opening phase (or at least I hope so) because things felt a bit disorganized--there wasn't even a menu to look at.We ended up just grabbing what we saw in front: sweet sticky rice and spring rolls. The sticky rice was solid--coconut shreds, mung bean, sesame seeds, and a creamy coconut sauce all came together nicely. For the spring rolls, we got one of each type, and the bi (pork skin) spring roll was definitely my favorite. The others were decent, and I liked the peanut dipping sauce.Overall, the food was tasty for what it was, but they definitely need to get things more organized. Hopefully, they'll smooth things out soon!

My friend and I came here for lunch and waited about 15min to get seated. The food came out quick which was nice because I was starving! We shared the hot skillet and the pork lemon grass banh mi. Omg delicious. The bread was thin and crispy, and the pork had so much flavor. The meat from the skillet was super tender and flavorful as well. They also gave us a free tea. The restaurant was pretty spacious and staff was very helpful. I am definitely coming back here again!

This place only serves 3 things: banh mi, bo ne, and com tam. I've tried all 3 and everything is decent and you cannot beat the price, it's cheap! I haven't tried their coffees yet, but my parents liked it. This location is really small with minimal parking, mostly for takeout orders. But they are opening a bigger location on Brookhurst and Westminster, so check that place out if you'd like to dine in.

Simple place for a quick lunch.Loved the Bo Ne (Sizzling Steak & Eggs on Cast Iron)Accompanied by tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, & meatballs accompanied by two Banh mi halves.Steak was nicely cooked with a good sear & the taste was good!My favorite was actually the panini style Banh mi for $5 that I got to go!Decent place overall, nothing too special, but great for a to go order or quick stop.

Likes:+ Delicious, cheap food. Variety of ingredients make for a well-balanced, enjoyable meal. The eggs and steak were scrumptious.Get it while prices are low!+ Decent amount of parking and indoor seating.Non-likes:- The waiter kept asking for the menu back. Maybe it took him a while to understand that I like reading menus and learning about a restaurant while eating there.- The utensil cabinet is cute but inconvenient. The compartments are unlabeled. They should label each shelf, so you don't have to open each shelf seeking a specific utensil. The cabinet isn't well grounded, so you could accidentally slide or knock it over.- The ice water is chock-full of ice. The liquid to ice ratio should be higher.- They placed the sizzling steak skillet on the table but away from me and then walked away. So, I had to kind of shimmy the skillet towards me so I can eat comfortably. The handle was still hot, but I didn't burn myself too badly.- When prompted for a receipt, entering my phone number for a text receipt didn't work.Gripe:At first they brought out a cup of tea, which isn't a good idea late in the evening. Good thing I asked before drinking; at first I thought it might've been just pleasant herbal water. They replaced it with the ice water.I had:$12.95 bò né (sizzling steak) +$4.95 bánh mì thịt nướng xả (or spelled sả)? (grilled pork with lemongrass sandwich) + tax + tip= $21.35
