When i used to live in South Gate, this used to be my spot for marinaded Carne Asada meat, aka Ranchera. They had the best pre marinaded meat around. They also had a little deli inside that sold mexican food, but never figured trying it. This past weekend, the girl who cuts my hair down the block recommended this place to me for a good torta. So i actually came in and ordered one. A milanesa torta, $4.60 cant beat that deal. Cooked to order. Plus it was really good. Would definitely go back for another one.

My Grandfather is the founder and original owner of this place and there's not a day that goes by that I don't miss being here. If any of you know him his name was Ramon Medrano and so many people in the city still owe him money till this very day because he'd give customers credit when they couldn't afford their groceries

I freakin' the burritos de lengua from here! They are my absolute favorite. So big and filling - not to mention delicious! My family has known the lady and her husband (owners) for years, and the son went to school with me. This spot is kind of divey, a bit of a hole in the wall, but, man is it worth a try! The flautas are my step-dad's fave and you can't go wrong w/the menudo or birria either. Mother loves the nachos and the chicken cuz the lady gets down. The chicken here is cooked to perfection! My brothers love the tacos. But i will always hands-down recommend the burritos They have a variety of drinks and sweet breads as well as other foods to enjoy, but I definitely go here mostly for the burritos cuz they're so bomb! It's half restaurant/half meat market, so you can do some shopping as well as eating. The lady is super sweet and her husband is a bit of a grouch; she makes the food, he runs the register - but the food is great.

My uncle recommended the meat here. I went in on a Friday and bought meat and chicken to cook for my birthday party Saturday. After making all the meat and chicken I realized the chicken was completely bad, because they sold me bad chicken there was not enough food for everyone. I would not go back.

I stand by my older comment that the taqueria section is absolutely delicious and you should definitely go for the quality of their Mexican food alone, as well as the sheer variety they have in the store. Classic liquor store stuff, but other items too. HOWEVER, I recently had an experience that disappointed me greatly. I bought 2 pounds of Carne Asada and discovered that they gave me an entire pound of old nasty carne! Had to settle for a measly one pound of good carne. I refuse to buy from their butcher section again but I'll still eat their taqueria food till the day I die.
