Their marinated carne asada and chicken are great as is their chorizo. Slightly pricier than super markets but the quality is consistent so it's worth it. Produce is always fresh. Service is great.

I love the peanuts they sell! Ask for them at the cash. I always pick up a couple of tubs with my chicken. Salty with a good dash of Chile peppers thrown in to spice them up. They are so darn good that they never last long. Good thing I don't live any closer!

o was there june 20/24 thursday 10.26 am i ask if i can get fresh carne asada prepareda $13,99 a pound cuz the carne asada look old black and the employee of the meat department was rude. dint want to give me what i ask !! the place smells everybody so rude in there horrible place to shop and expensive

This is the best place for meat in Long Beach. Hands down best ranchera for grilling. Chicken is good too the one they cook is fire. The butchers are super nice and friendly. I've placed huge orders and have never been disappointed. I put money on this asada against anyones. Armando and Javier will take good care of you. It's heating up and you need to grill something. Try them out and see. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I learned about this hidden gem known as "La Bodega" by accident, but I'm so glad I did! Although quite a drive from our area of Orange County (OC) to Long Beach, the photos of "La Bodega's" Pollo Asado (aka chargrilled chicken) on Yelp looked so good, we had make the trip! As we made the drive from OC to Long Beach, we started to wonder if we were in the right place. But we finally saw it: that glorious smoke traveling across Anaheim Street. With smoke billowing from this very humble little neighborhood market, "La Bodega" grills whole chickens in their parking lot over an open mesquite charcoal flame, with a distinctively delicious smoky aroma that you can literally smell down the street.Parking can be a challenge at times, but do not let that discourage you. Just quietly park on one of the neighborhood streets, & make the walk. Totally worth it! The market itself, is small & a bit "tight," but it features fresh meats, fruits, dairy, many Latin specialties, & an ice cream shop. Order & pay for your chicken inside at the front counter, grab your receipt, & head outside for that tasty, smoky, goodness. Give the "grill-master" your receipt, & he will literally let you pick your own chicken(s) to-go! Oh! And this chicken is nothing short of amazing...fresh, juicy, & with a smoky mesquite charcoal flavor. One bite & we said, "El Pollo WHO???" Yes...it was THAT amazing. Only downside: They do not have ready-made side-orders. So we simply make our own fresh salsa, tortillas, beans, rice, & plantains at home, to accompany that yummy chargrilled chicken. So delicious!Being the epitome of "don't judge a book by its cover," "La Bodega" is nothing fancy, but overall, this spot is definitely worth the trip for some good, authentic Pollo Asado. Tip: If you are coming only for the chicken, keep in mind: Chargrilled chicken is only available on weekends.

We hit this place almost every weekend. We're either get charred chickens (which as I write this, are $10 a chicken), or marinated carne asada, or chicken asada (pollo asada).Now, remember, the chickens and both asadas are excellent for not only fajitas, but for making burritos and tacos too! And that's exactly what our family does ... we make fajitas one weekend, tacos the next weekend, and burritos the next.Oh, they do not give beans and rice with their chickens anymore (if they ever did) but they do give you salsa with each chicken ... more than you will ever use.And this Bodega sells EVERYTHING you need for fajitas, tacos or burritos.It's almost like they intentionally stock with fajita, tacos or burrito supplies with their endless choices of tortillas and salsas, hot sauces, and a full blown Hispanic themed produce department. But they also have an incredible butcher department, all the drinks (including beer/wine) and they have an entire ice cream counter with all the Hispanic favorites.Don't pass on their Mexicana Crema which they make there but kinda keep hidden on one end of the butcher case ... "it is the bomb" according to my Mexican/Honduran daughter-in-law and her parents.Service is great. I think they are a step above Northgate Markets, a little less expensive and certainly more convenient ... although, as stated, parking can be a challenge.

Maracuya water is delicious and the fruit water too! Fresas con crema fire! Especially that esquite after work ! Bomb! Bomb!

I am still new to Southern California - moved here from the Washington, DC area. One of the best things about moving here is seeing the guys at this place grill chicken on the weekends. This is something you don't see back east. The chicken is cheap, and awesome. One of my stops every weekend is to buy a grilled chicken from this store. Highly recommend.

Ranchera absolutely sucked!!! The chicken was flavorless as well. I literally gave it all away. Ranchera tasted old and gamy. I will not be returning.
