Kaju Soft Tofu - Irvine

Delicious soondubu at Kaju Soft Tofu. We both got the kalbi tofu soup. I didn't expect for us to each get a fried fish with our meal. I can't remember the last time I got a complimentary fish banchan, so that was much appreciated. Our tofu soup came out shortly after ordering, boiling hot with a raw egg to crack inside. The broth was flavorful and there was an abundance of tofu. I got mine "spicy" and my husband got a "medium". I definitely could have gone spicier, so keep in mind that their "mild" is really mild. Rice also comes out in a sizzling stone pot as it should, and I scoop out the rice in the provided metal bowls and add some water to the stuck-on rice in the stone bowl so that I can eat scorched rice soup (nurungji) at the end of my meal.I was quite impressed with the tofu soup here. Overall a very satisfying meal. Table is nice and wide, bathroom is clean, and service is quick and friendly.

Fantastic food, great service, and timely!!The tofu soups and rice come out piping hot in a mini pot! If you want your rice crispy on the edges, keep you rice in the pot longer before scooping it out!!The banchan is also delicious!! Kaju serves fish cake, cucumber kimchi, bean sprouts, cabbage kimchi, and potato banchan, which were all delicious and fresh. The fried fish they serve you with the purchase of the tofu soup is also super light and flavorfulOverall, this is one of my favorite tofu soup places and highly recommend! The wait might get long on weekends but it's very worth it--especially on a cold night.

I love how they have the waitlist online on Yelp. I was able to place my name down while driving to this place. The place is a bit smaller but service is quick. I usually get the assorted tofu soup that comes with clam, oyster, shrimp and beef. The soup comes in piping hot and you add an egg to it. I like how the mild is actually mild but still has a kick to it. The side dishes were extra delicious when I went. I'm picky with my banchan and I really liked it today. Overall, I would come back to this place, especially on a cold night.

If you're a fan of BCD, you're going to love this spot even more. We ordered combo C which had the spicy tofu soup of your choice + a sizzling hot plate of galbi. (Apparently, we were hungry hehe who doesn't love soup with sizzle)The galbi cuts were thick, hot, and juicy. We chose the kimchi tofu stew with oysters, spicy level. It honestly could have been a little more spicy BUT the flavors were all there and the oysters brought an extra something to the soup. The side dishes were marinated and seasoned sooooooo well. I couldn't stop munching on them even when my main dishes came out! The mackerel side dish was steaming hot when dropped off at our table which was nice because every time I've gone to other places, it's room temperature or cold. Loved! Service was top notch. Even though it was a Friday night and pretty packed, servers were attentive with providing refills for hot tea and refilling our side dish plates. It's what you would see at any small Korean restaurant, casual mom and pop, just bring yourself and your appetite kind of vibe. Highly recommend!!! I'm sorry BCD but this is my new favorite spot for soup and sizzle!

Came on a sunday evening around 6:30-7, it was busy but we didnt wait that long. We ordered two soondubus and one soondubu meat set. Each soon comes with rice, and we wanted purple rice but they said they only have white rice for the stone pots? Prices arent too bad i dont remember rly tho lol. Soondubu was pretty good! Flavor good, they gave alottttt of tofu compared to the soup. Good amount of meat too. We got the bulgogi meat and it was quite sweet but still good! Service was good as well! The nicest korean place tbh (no hate) but most r usually not that nice to us. They refilled our banchan multiple times without us asking which was awesome.

so buss! Such comfort food and the service is so aggressively kind:) the galbi was so tender and delicious. Dare I say ... better than bcd?? Idk honestly they're exactly the same. But it hit the spot.

So I was going to go to my regular tofu spot but my daughter mentioned that her Korean friend suggested to try Kaju if we like soft tofu soup.Walked in a bit before 5:30 pm and the place was empty. Only 2 tables with few people dining in.Ordered the combo tofu soup with beef and seafood.The soup was good but I didn't particularly care for their side dishes.The fish cake looked different than what I am accustomed to and it was a bit too sweet. The banchan: pickled cucumbers and kimchi were also too sweet compared to other Korean restaurants. These kimchi dishes should be just spicy with that tangy taste of pickled veggies, not sweet.I would say 3.5/5 but let's round it up to 4/5.

This will be my new go to spot for soondubu in Irvine! Their combos are so worth which comes with a tofu soup of your choice and a sizzling grilled plate of meat. I usually opt for the beef tofu soup galbi combo as their galbi is so tender. Service is very attentive with refilling the banchans here, but it can be quite loud so be prepared to shout across the table.

I love all the side dishes they gave us and I feel like it's on par with the side dishes from BCD. They also include the fried fish that I don't know of any other chains that do. This time they provided some kind of Korean fried pancake to the sides that was delicious. I was surprised that they only give a stone pot of rice per two guests, it wasn't quite enough for us and we asked for more and they gave it to us I believe free of charge. I got the Galbi Soondubu, I really like the Galbi in this, it was soft and not too chewy. The soup was flavorful and it went great with the rice and the side dishes.

This is a quality place. I was impressed with their menu--lots of pictures and easy to understand. The service is great. They remember their regulars and are very helpful.The small dishes come right away and are very tasty. We ordered the beef and thought it was very tasty. Everything comes out of the kitchen hot, and I mean steaming hot. This is a huge plus. Their seafood pancake is wonderful. Their selection of tofusoups is extensive. We will be coming back.
