Joys Chicken And Fish

This is a no frills fried fish restaurant. I'd recommend calling and ordering ahead if you can (see attached menu photo) since you'll have to wait at least 15 minutes or so in an arguably questionable area. I definitely didn't feel in danger when I was waiting for my food during the day on a Saturday but there were some interesting characters roaming around to say the least. I got the fried catfish dinner meal with coleslaw and French fries. They ended up giving me potato salad by mistake but this was a wonderful mistake. This is probably the best potato salad I've ever had. I'm a fan of the Reser's brand sold in grocery stores so it's similar to that but with a little more twang. The catfish was not as seasoned as I'm used to (I'm comparing it to the homemade fried catfish I grew up eating) but it was still pretty good. I also tried the fried snapper and that was good as well. The fish and the fried were both fried well and there wasn't an overwhelming amount of grease seeping out. Make sure to ask for tartar sauce cause it's really good. The major shock for me was that all that food was only $9.99. In this economy? Yes. It may not seem like a lot of food to some but it kept me full for a very long time. Parking: there's a lot with a good number of spots but you'll have to get lucky. Also people double park alot here so beware of the spots closest to the street because my car was partially blocked in when I was trying to go back home. Street parking was pretty much unavailable when I came.

Best part was the lemons how did they get all these stars on yelp. the shrimp and fish was except-able but nothing I'd pay for again. Chicken horrible

Very clean, my other new spot was closed and I found this on Yelp and ordered 1 lb of fried catfish which was a little over $20, and it was worth the trip! There was only one man working that day, who was taking orders and cooking, so I'm happy that I called in my order to avoid waiting...

Such a random gem, fried oysters is a must order!! Leaving to add in the menu, hoping this helps others.

Wow, they know how to fry their foods so it's not greasy. We tried the fish, chicken wings, and fries. Everything was delicious. I will try other menu items like the fried shrimp next time and definitely their fries again. It's better than In and Out fries. Joys tartar sauce was delicious too. Realized half way, we didn't take a photo at the beginning...we were hungry!

Was very surprised at how good and fresh the food was! Very clean seating too. They make the food right away in the kitchen so it's hot and fresh when you eat it Somehow the fish and fried shrimp were not greasy at all but they were not dry at all eitherI would highly recommend this place for great food.

I f you are looking for clean fried shrimp or fish I highly recommend this place! It doesn't look like much when you past by especially were its located but when I tell you I choose this place over any Louisiana Fried Chicken or Popeyes ANY DAY! There 12 piece jumbo shrimp combo is to die for comes with bread as well, and I'm not much of fish fan but their fried fish is so good, it really depend on what type of fish you like. Oh and Family owned!!!!! Also you can buy raw fish and shrimp to take home to cook yourself as well!! I rather buy the family meal though only because i just love there fried shrimp

I was craving some fried food so after looking around the area I decided to try Joys chicken and fish and was pleasantly surprised. The fries were crispy and well seasoned as well and the chicken flavor being really good. The food was great and I'll definitely be back again!

Today I was craving some shrimp, but I wanted to try somewhere new. I stumbled upon joys chicken and fish and the fried shrimp was amazing. The fries were also fried perfectly and seasoned to perfection. I also had a couple chicken wings and they were extremely good as well. I definitely will be back again to try some of their fish in the future.
