This used to be one of my favorite local places to frequent, and now it feels entirely foreign. They have you order and pay before you sit down. The furniture is mismatched, outdated (but not in the kitschy Johnny rockets way). It feels like hostile architecture which tracks considering DTLB has had an unhoused population for decades. There's no booths. There's no jukeboxes. There's not even salt and pepper on the tables. You're served your drinks in paper cups with a lid. It feels like they want you to grab your food and get out. =/Customer service is provided if you walk up to the bar, vs a waitress asking, or walking by. They have expanded their menu to include different burgers (even ones for vegans), more appetizers, and of course tons of shakes. Their food is still good, but it's likely best to take out.

You order at the counter and they'll serve the food to your table. I got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. The grilled chicken was flat and a little dry but the rest of the sandwich was good. The highlight of Johnny Rockets had to be the milkshakes. They're give you a good amount and it's so sweet and creamy. Exactly like ice cream! Soooo delicious!! There's some tables and bar seating here. The restroom is located outside.

Located in the middle of historic Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach, this location of the popular hamburger chain Johnny Rockets serves up their famous hamburgers, along with their ice cream shakes, for both carry-out and dine-in.We've walked by this location many, many times, but this was the first time my wife answered in the affirmative when asked the question "Do you want to share a strawberry shake?". The location was not busy on a Saturday afternoon. At this touristy location, you need to order and pay first. We just wanted a strawberry shake ($6.59). It was delivered to our table soon after, but instead of in a retro shake glass, it came in a to-go waxed paper cup (I love the places where they will not only serve it in a shake glass, but give you the remainder in the metal cup that it was 'spun' in). The strawberry flavor had been added with syrup, and came with a large 'boba' type straw for easy consumption. The shake itself was OK...would have guessed it came from a machine, but JR makes them by hand. It was a nice way to rest a bit before we continued our walk home.

I got the streamline burger with fries (add cheddar). It was okay. It felt healthy. I didn't like the bun. The fries are tasty and fresh. It comes with a good portion of fries. The service was great. The cashier/manager was very sweet. She was motherly and kind. The waitress who brought our food was also very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. This is a good spot for a quick bite to eat. I wouldn't go here for a date. There's a lot of homeless people who hang around and dig through the trash can. I saw someone's butt today, before my burger came out. Not Johnny rockets fault, but it's not a great location.

I'm not sure why the low ratings... it's a Johnny Rockets first of all, let alone in DTLB. I hate the idea of tipping before a meal for sit down dining, but it is what it is. The food was alright and the service was ok too (the young lady was unenthusiastic but was polite and got her job done).

This is a classic place to get a burger, fries & a shake. The customer service & cleanliness is excellent.There was very little wait time. Our waitress was so nice and very friendly. I will definitely return.

Johnny Rockets. I love the gleaming silver chrome and countertops. And their funny new commercials. But best of all is that the food tastes just so honest. I'm all like, this is an American burger. And just like the milk shake, and cola and fries, it tastes great.

We came here to get a burger and fries and we were going to order the route 66 burger which is 12.95$ for a single and they wanted to charge us over $19 to make an impossible burger so to change any one of their burgers to a vegetarian burger is almost 5 dollars more!!! $20 for vegetarian burger here that is crazy!!! And when we asked her, if she was sure, maybe ask Manager to doublecheck she was very sarcastic and asked us "did we want to look" "No, I want to not pay to not eat a cow!!!

Couldn't believe how the quality of their food has gone downhill. Ordered a sandwich and the ingredients were so skimpy, it was a like a bread sandwich. Fries were cold and soggy.
