Izakaya Hachi - Torrance

This is one of those restaurants that every single menu items hit!!!! They take reservations, but they also take walk-ins. We had reservations both times and receded with wait time of 15 to 20 minutes. They are always busy and so before, especially the rain dinner hour so make sure you make a reservation before you go.The spot definitely hit the spot when I was craving Japanese dishes. From the mentaiko omelet to the duck, and the beef tongue, allll of them easily became my favorite dishes of all time.The service is super quick and nice and the service are super polite. Although they are super busy, they try to be attentive to you and come by multiple times to make sure your drinks are full. Great ambience as well as there's always people coming in and out, but it's giving casual so there was no pressure to dress up!I absolutely love this place and I will be back again and again!!!!

We chose here to celebrate friends' birthday, expecting a fun and memorable evening. And we always liked food here. Unfortunately, the service was unpleasant from the very start. Our server was cold and dismissive, making us feel more like a burden than welcome guests.The worst part came toward the end of the meal when she abruptly announced, "You have 7 minutes to leave," citing a 2-hour table limit. Her tone was harsh and unkind, completely killing the celebratory mood. We felt rushed and unwelcome on what was supposed to be a special night.While the food was decent, it wasn't enough to make up for the poor treatment. Birthdays are meant to be celebrated, not rushed like a timed chore. I wouldn't recommend Izakaya Hachi to anyone looking for a joyful, stress-free dining experience.We had two waitresses throughout our meal and both were very unfriendly.

They were able to accommodate our larger party of 9 and the service was excellent. Thank you to our servers for being attentive and patient with our large and loud group! We demanded quite a bit of sake and beer - and it came to us quick Since our party was large we basically ordered each dish x2. We ordered so much food that I didn't even get a picture of everything! Honestly every single thing we ate was downright delicious. Our favorites of the night were the Beef Tongue, Ribeye Ponzu, and Lamb Chop. These dishes wear perfectly prepared and very, very tasty. Each bite was succulent and savory. The menu at this Izakaya is large and I'm willing to drive back to Torrance to try more of it!

Great service and food, definitely a great place to try for traditional Izakaya food. Raw oysters were delicious.

Obsessed with this place! I've been here a few times and every time I go, it never disappoints. The quality of their meats, the overall options are simply incredible. Highly recommend making reservations since it's a bit hard to find seats around dinner time.

YUMMY AUTHENTIC JAPANESE FOODDDDD!!!!!!!Hachi is so so delicious and worth it every single time!! Everything is so authentic and not a single dish I didn't love!! The presentation of all the food was beautiful, made everything so much more appetizing. The beef tongue was a huge hit, it was cooked perfectly and each bite was so savory. I also loved the ambiance of the restaurant, dim lighting and great attentive service at our table!! I love Hachi!!! So so yummy

Food: Best gobo chips I've had and the beef tongue was just perfectly cooked. Definitely more upscale if you want the sushi combo you need to do a 2 order minimum. Highly recommend coming here and we need to go back as the menu is quite extensive. Service:Great service they were able to squeeze us in on a weekend even though we had no reservation and the servers were very nice.Ambiance:Great date spot dimly lit good drinks great food!

Came for drinks and apps as a round 2, and we kind of regretted not making this the round 1. The only food we ended up ordering was the agedashi tofu, but it was SO good. Our server Shiho also recommended an amazing sake bottle. Absolutely would be back to try all their food.

I have to admit that my expectations for this place was rather high, but unfortunately it was underwhelming. We ordered the $65 set menu, which came with a variety of dishes that were attached in photos. Sashimi and Oysters were fresh. Octopus, a bit on the chewy side but still edible. Pork cheek was cooked beautifully and paired very well with the yuzu sauce. Ribeye was decently tender. The beef tongue (This was not included in the set menu. we ordered alacarte) could've been cooked for an additional 30 seconds. I felt it was on the rather rare side, would've preferred more medium rare. Texture would've been better. However the hotpot broth was way too oily for me. I just wish the set menu was more balanced, since we already had so much grease with pork cheek, ribeye etc. Basically, cooking all the veges in the broth was equivalent to dipping veges in lard. For this price point, I honestly expected higher quality dishes. That being said. Service was excellent and ambiance was good.

Food is really good service not so great was told I cannot be seated at a booth upon arriving with reservations. I was told to call in to make sure I can reserve a table with the booth. I made another reservation called in and was told I have to be handicapped to use the booth's. I gave up and canceled my reservation... only reason I didn't like the tables is that they are so close together that you're basically bumping elbows with random people sitting next to you.
