Ise-Shima is located at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel. The restaurant is elegant and sophisticatedly adorned with Japanese decor. The restaurant is spacious with various seating areas, including private booths. I got their kaiseki style lunches - Tuna Lunch Special ($47) - If you're a tuna lover, this one is for you. Its comes with: salad w/ albacore tuna, bluefin tuna sashimi, toro tuna & vegetable tempura, 3 kinds of tuna sushi, negi toro cutroll, and red miso soup. Everything was plated beautifully and was delicious! Seasonal Lunch Special ($43) - Get this if you want variety! The set comes with salad, bluefin tuna and hamachi sashimi, braised vegetables, shrimp/scallop/vegetable tempura, grilled miso king mackeral, mountain vegetable rice, egg custard, soup w/ sea bass, & dessert. I actually preferred this over the tuna special. The mackerel was cooked and seasoned well, with the miso flavor deeply penetrating the fish. Love the fresh sashimi and warm egg custard. I'd skip the cocktails (at least during lunch). We got the expresso martini & yuzu south, which didn't wow me. Pretty standard cocktails while not being memorable or something I'd get again. Stick with sake options to be safe. Unfortunately, they no longer offer the chirashi lunch sets. Although, the rest of the menu is still worth exploring. Service was friendly but could be a bit slow sometimes (due to how busy they were and how big the restaurant was). Free parking at the hotel lot.

I absolutely LOVE this place! The staff was friendly and attentive, and I really loved the Japanese-style decor. I had the wagyu beef course, and it was to die for. I'm definitely going back to try their other set courses. They do have a a la carte option, but I feel like to get the full experience you should get a set course. ENJOY! PS: Restaurant is in the Miyako Hybrid Hotel and there is a free parking lot.

I was used to eat dinner here with my husband. I like their food. This time I had lunch with my girlfriends and it was good.I ordered today's grilled fish lunch. It was yum and has salad, miso soup and steamed egg pudding(savory). We also shared black sesame rice cake and matcha cheesecake. I liked them both. It's pretty much Japanese potion and not American potion.Only 2 complaints for them are Their white rice is very low quality. Also the spoon for steamed egg pudding was ridiculously small so I couldn't eat some...I usually park on street since they have too many staff parking spots and not for many spots for customers.

I am always on the lookout for an authentic Japanese restaurant experience similar to today's Japanese tastes - whether it be a solid yoshoku restaurant, an izakaya, or a traditional washoku restaurant, my goal with Japanese restaurants is always to try to find a place whose flavor profiles resemble what I have when I visit Japan. It was by sheer fortunate that I happened to find this restaurant on Yelp. Not only is kaiseki on the menu, but the restaurant also has lunch sets that resemble shokado bentos. The pictures were extremely promising so I knew I had to give it a try.I booked a reservation ahead of time and came on a Saturday. Being at Miyako Hotel, the staff were amazing. The restaurant is quite spacious with copious seating. We were sat at a very nice table. After some careful deliberating, my wife and I both ended up getting the seasonal special. For autumn, the lunch menu started with chawanmushi and a salad. The salad came with a yuzu dressing which was nice. The chawanmushi had shrimp and mushrooms and was quite tasty. The lunch set itself was amazing. Tuna and yellowtail sashimi with freshly grated wasabi, braised vegetables, yellowtail teriyaki, various tempura, chestnut rice, and an amazing soup, delivered a wide variety of subtle and elegant flavors for my palate. Everything was amazing, but I loved the vegetables, sashimi, and soup. There was also a chestnut ice cream dessert which was an excellent ending to the meal. This was an amazing, incredibly authentic washoku experience in Torrance. I will definitely come back.

I had the buffet breakfast while I was staying in the (Miyako) hotel. I'm no expert on Japanese breakfast buffets, but to me, it seems a bit pricy ($31/person) for what you're getting. The menu is located on their website, but here's some of the Japanese menu items they had when I visited: Grilled Fish (Salmon and Mackerel), Tamago, Hijiki, Pickled Veggies, Natto, and Miso Soup. American options included made to order eggs and/or omelette, sausage and bacon. They also had a few pastry items. Overall, it's a good experience if you're interested in the Japanese food items. However, personally, nothing was extraordinary to me since I have most of the items I ate here on a semi-regular basis anyways.

Brought by a friend and I was so glad I came. This is a hidden term inside the Miyako Hybrid Hotel in Torrance. During the happy hours, we tried 80% of the small dishes. The fried oysters are a must-try. With or without the sauce, you can eat fresh oysters with their sweet, smooth texture and crunchy shells. The beef was tender and well-marinated, and the sauce did not overkill it to its taste. It made me feel like I needed a bowl of rice to have more! The fried chicken was at a suitable temperature; the meat was juicy, not dry. The squid stake was ok compared to other outstanding dishes. The cocktail was oolong tea-based, which was not disappointing: A good combination of citrus and tea. It is very refreshing but gentle. For dessert, I got the black sesame rice cake. The texture is more concrete than flour; it was so good. The cream, sesame paste, and cake made a beautiful harmony. One of our friends also tried the match cake and loved it. We are coming back next time to try their dinner dishes. They also have a sushi bar with a sushi chef making fresh sushi. Service was nice. Both the bartender and the server were friendly and checked on us in a good time manner (not too frequently) but able to catch the moment we needed help. Parking is effortless (hotel parking), and it's free.

Our group has an annual event for around 100 people here. We get one of the bento boxes and everything is delicious. The sushi/sashimi is fresh and well prepared. The service is efficient and friendly, and the restaurant and hotel public areas are well-maintained. The closest parking lot is a bit small, but there is a large lot across the street that can handle the overflow. This restaurant is great for parties and special occasions.

We tried the breakfast buffet! It's a bit pricey but i still found it totally worth it because im a japanese breakfast fanatic. it was very homey and there were a lot of pickled veggie options. very classic japanese breakfast with no frills. you get two kinds of fish options - mackerel or salmon. they aren't phenomenal but i still loved it all for the nostalgia. it's all self serve and the servers come around to grab your empty plates. there are some continental breakfast items like scrambled eggs but obv, i wasn't there for that haha there is also coffee and green tea ready to be consumed. i thought it was better than fukagawa!!! definitely will be back some time...

I recently dined at Ise- shima and loved the food, but the service was disappointing. The manager was unwelcoming and ignored us while treating regular customers warmly. The service felt rushed--our entrées arrived before we finished our appetizers, and the waiter kept trying to clear our plates too soon. Even while we were still having coffee, the check was brought without request. The manager then tapped the table, pressuring us to pay, which felt unprofessional. We spent about $160, including a good tip, and expected better treatment. Please consider improving customer service for a more welcoming experience.
