It has been a long while since I last visited the restaurant. The dinner hasn't changed after all this time, the staff are still friendly and the service is still great. I got seated right away, the menu and complementary barley tea arrived within couple minutes.I ordered Chirashi Combo with Hot Udon and the order was ready in about 15 minutes. The noodle was cooked to the perfection and the broth was light but flavorful with nice dash of seaweed. The chirashi bowl was visually nice and the seafood were fresh. The tuna pieces were firm with nice buttery soft texture. The rice was firm but moist, and seasoned sesame seeds on top gave it a very special taste.Even though the restaurant's interior looked outdated, its food remains top notch and fresh. Totally Worthy of repeat visits.

Tried the eggplant hot udon and came with a side of vegetable steamed rice. Its hit or miss on the vegetables in the rice. Good flavor broth and plenty of noodles. Eggplant was cooked well. Meal comes with cold barley tea. The seating area is a bit small and gets busy at lunch so going off hours might be best.We were given our check just as soon as we were done eating. Overall the food was good but a bit overpriced for noodles and rice.

Had a family lunch at Ichimi-an over the weekend right when it opened (11:30am) and had a great experience. The restaurant is not that big inside, but since we came early we were able to seat (party of 10). Great service, and most importantly great food. I had a combo sushi and udon set, and it was very delicious. I'm not a avid udon lover, but I was very pleased with their udon. If you love udon you will love theirs (in my humble opinion). Parking is ample, and bonus is that the location is close to both the Nijiya Market and Trader Joe's if you also need to get some grocery shopping done. Note: If you have a large party, note that the seating some somewhat limited inside the restaurant.

11/27/2024CRAB SCALLOP AND IKURA RICE BOWL COMBO(Crab, scallop, salmon roe, nori seaweed, sesame on rice, served with a side of soba or udon)Served with real crab. I was expecting imitation crab! The crab meat were crab legs. I think they served a whole crab leg because there were quite a lot of meat. The scallop was fresh. It was raw scallop and they also served it with wasabi and soy sauce. However, the scallop was one full scallop cut in half. This was served over white rice and with salmon roe on the side. The udon noodle at Ichimi An was flatter and thinner than the usual cylindrical udon noodles we all know and love. However, the udon noodles were good and slurpable. The kake broth was good too. Ordered a small tempura on the side. It wasn't super crispy, but it was still light in texture and I enjoyed it. These other two dishes were ordered by family. So I got to sneak a taste. UNAGI BOWL COMBOUnagi bowl served with a side of rice. The unagi was soft and the sauce was delicious! This comes with a side of udon or soba. REGULAR SOBA (HOT)Soba was served with kake broth. The soba looks handmade. Rough texture, not smooth at all. This was definitely handmade.SEATINGA very small restaurant that seats about 20-22 people. CUSTOMER SERVICEOnly one server. But server was quick and made sure everyone got their order. As soon as we sat down, we got cold Japanese tea. Overall, had a great experience here. I would love to return and try other dishes when it's less crowded. Really recommend checking out the combo menu items! LOCATIONRight across from BevMo and Nijiya Market Rolling Hills. Btw, check out Nijiya Market for some onirigi and other ready-to-eat Japanese foods in the refrigerator section. Loved their spicy salmon onigiri! PARKINGIt seems quite large, however, there were more cars than spots to park. The parking lot was not designed well and difficult to drive within the strip mall. I went during lunch hour and it was packed! Had to wait for an opening.

Really happy to have found this authentic Japanese spot. Came for weekday lunch and there were plenty of street spots available. It's a cozy little restaurant where the owner speaks Japanese and the staff takes time to walk you through the menu. Everything feels genuine and welcoming. The mentai cold udon was the highlight - the noodles had that perfect chewy texture!! Their combo sets are great value too. What makes this place special is its simplicity - just honest, well-made Japanese food in a warm atmosphere!

Small noodle shop, simple and affordable menu, friendly service. The hub got the mental oroshi soba with a small kakiage bowl, and I got the ume gonomi. Cold & refreshing, love it!

This place is amazing. I am not sure but I think the grandma there hand makes the noodles. I really like the udon and soba here. I have tried them both hot and cold w/ udon and soba noodles. You really can't go wrong with whatever you order here. They also have combos with tempura or rice plates and even sushi. There may be a wait if you go there during lunch time as there aren't many seats. The soup broth is refreshing and the noodles are always prepared super fresh. They also give hot tea which pairs perfectly with the meal. The restaurant is small and cute and the servers are friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!Still one of the best places in town!

A hidden gem in Torrance that transports you back to the homey restaurants in Japan. We arrived about an hour before closing on a Saturday night and had no problem getting a table. Keep in mind, this location is quite intimate and their music is kept kinda low. So, if you have tea to spill be prepared that the other tables will probably hear you.I ordered a hot kitsune udon ($15) and a pumpkin tempura on the side ($1 ea). This meal was so filling with the side of rice and tempura. The udon noodles are also thinner than the usual udon noodles at restaurants. If you're not a fan of regular udon noodles bc they're too thick, you would probably enjoy these! Tempura was also cooked to perfection and not greasy at all! I def wna come back and try the yuzu broth!

Great Japanese lunch! This unassuming spot offers stellar soba, udon, and sashimi. Their lunch combos are incredible value for those in the know and my brother and I really enjoyed our lunch here when he was in town for a visit. Come right at opening if you don't want to wait.
