Handy's Smoke House Meats & Delicacies

4.5 stars rounded up. If you like smoked meats, give Handy's Smoke House Meats a try! I've been to Nothing Bundt Cakes right by this spot and never realized it was here for the longest time! Handy's is unassuming and easy to miss. It's to-go only, and they offer smoked meats and also sandwiches. Some of the things I've tried which I really like include the smoked chicken wings, and the albacore and salmon spreads. The ones I've tried from other places are usually smooth and easily spreadable, but Handy's is more chunky with noticeable bits of fish in it, so it's unique to me. I also like their mini sweet potato pie, which I believe is seasonal. The one thing I didn't care too much for was the tri-tip. I don't know if it was just an off-day but I wasn't a big fan of the flavor.I do want to come back to try some other things though, like their brisket! The people here are very friendly, and they'll go over the menu/items with you if you ask!

What's wrong with me? I've been to the Long Beach creamery and the Bundt cake place but never tried the meat place. It seems like it was closed whenever I came to this shopping center over the years.I have finally gone several times in the last 2 months and love it! Their smoked chicken sausage has fresh herbs that you can taste like sage and oregano and it's such a depth in the flavors -- you don't even need any BBQ sauce. I've used the sausage for my Cajun pasta, and my New Year's black eyed peas. I've also used them in a chicken pot pie I made on Christmas. You can't go wrong here although it's a little on the pricey side, it's worth it for fresh quality smoked meat! My new go-to!

Just want to say thank you to Mr Handy for taking care of us as well as 2 other groups. The food is top notched and very delicious. I will be back to try the pastrami sandwich and the brisket. We got pulled pork and smoked turkey leg this time......Thank you again

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I'd triple it EASILY! If you're lucky enough to be there while the owner (David) is there, you'll get his expert perspective on what you should get and how it'll match whatever your expectations are. The meats are tender and well seasoned. The smoked flavor isn't overbearing but enhances and adds body to the flavor of your favorite meats. There's a reason it comes so highly recommended. You can't go wrong with anything, but the chicken, spreads, and brisket are absolutely to die for. It's one of those places that isn't open every day because they don't have to be!!!!!! The vibe is very back home and it really does give friendly uncle energy. You know how some bbq spots make you feel like an idiot for not knowing the difference between sauces and heat sources? This is the opposite experience. Definitely couldn't recommend this place more highly.

Amazing! Love the albacore spread, smoked ham, ribs, and several of the sandwiches. Parking can be tricky at times, but definitely worth looking for a spot to park. Highly recommend!

Stumbled on this place while I was waiting to get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube. Very homey feeling, clean establishment. The gentleman at the counter was really nice and patient. Unfortunately they were out of pork links so I got a beef link. THAT BEEF LINK WAS THE BEST LINK I HAVE EVER HAD, like EVER EVERRR. And that thang was CHUNKY too, like it was thick! Cut in half it could have easily made 2 sandwiches. Easily. The Link had a little spice to it! Some like of kick, my nose started running just a little bit! The sauce was good, really great flavor. They also had a whole lot of other things to choose from. Slightly pricey, my link sandwich, chips and drink was almost $20.. BUT I can't wait to go back, definitely recommend.

OMGosh, the meat here is smoked to perfection. I'm not huge in red meat, so I go for the chicken and seafood. I had the chicken spread on my last visit. I believe I purchased the 22 ounce size. When I tell you my socks were blown off...well not literally, but MAN, is it good! I could eat the whole tub at on setting, because my pallet wanted to continue to experience that amazing taste! I will try the salmon spread next. As far as this business is concerned, their customer service is friendly, the establishment is clean and their prices are far for the hard work they put in their product.

If you're in the Long Beach area, you have to visit this hidden gem near Bixby Knolls. Some of the freshest seafood & meats around, with amazing customer service. I would visit often after work and pick up their smoked fish dips for weekend parties/visits. You have to get in at the right time, as these sell out fast (especially the smoked tuna when available), but the smoked salmon dip is amazing as well. I will always hold a special spot for small businesses killing it in the food game!

I've gone back a few times.The brisket sandwich is my favorite item. Normally I don't care sauce drenched meat but it works. The smoked meats is what I didn't like. They add a bunch of seasoning. My opinion, smoked meat shouldn't have it. That's my opinion but, I'm certain most people would call it bland if it wasn't there.

Every time I go to this amazing place I feel happy, great food, wonderful people! Today I got the beef links to add to a lentil soup and dinner special was spare ribs with two sides. People just run over to this place. Wait patiently for the food while it is being prepared with love and then enjoy it. And while waiting he gave me samples of deliciousness to eat, albacore pate, salmon late, chicken pate, all smoked of course and a piece of smoked salmon.
