Han Kook Kwan

I was in the area for an event and my companions were looking for something specific to eat. This was close by, had options other than just soup or noodles and they were agreeable with the price.It is located in the food court of a Korean grocery store (diamond in the rough actually). We were there mid-afternoon and parking was not too bad.Inside the grocery store food court is not fancy as say HMart, but I also noticed that all the restaurants, as with Han Kook Kwan, are run by Korean ajumma and ajeossi. When I saw that, I knew the food would be yummy.I ordered a Chicken Plate. Once all our orders were taken, I saw the man and woman behind the counter furiously cooking our food. Wait was a reasonable amount of time and I was pleasantly surprised at how much food was on the plate, a salad, and it had two banchan (cabbage kimchi and maybe a root veg kimchi). Both were delicious and also just the right amount of spicy. We also had kimbap to share, which was quite yummy! I was worried it would be sad like grocery store kimbap, but it was filing and tasty.My friends got beef bulgogi plates and a japchae plate, also with the same banchan. Everyone seemed happy with their dishes.The food would work to share for two not very hungry women, who want to room for boba or some pastry in the bakery next door. I was starving and even I had leftovers enough for one more meal.While the foodcourt is visually dodgy, the food tasted like someone's mum made it for me. And not complaining that it's reasonably priced, and also that it is attached to a grocery store making for a quick duck in for Korean goodies.Highly recommend for a simple meal! If I am in town, I will for sure, come back.

Han Kook Kwan is located in the food court of AR Supermarket. We ate at both the restaurants that were open. I wanted the Beef Bulgogi bibimbap. The food was well plated and looked nice. The food tasted alright. I'm glad they gave you the sauce bottle so you can season to your own taste. Smart. I don't like trying to eat food that has too much sauce or spiciness.Portion size is decent. They had Kim chi and cucumber dishes on the side.Water dispenser on the left.

I loveeeee this spot omg. the spicy cold noodles and the spicy pork bulgogi is my fav. the shop is a mom and pop shop and I love how affordable everything is

Hank Kook Kwan is located in the Korean Plaza in Korean town in Orange County, CA serving up korean stone bowl food and much more.After browsing through the Korean Plaza we make our way to the food court and notice all the pictures and advertisements of the food and decided to give it a try. We went ahead and ordered the beef bulgogi bibimbap, and seafood Korean pancake. The prices are quite steep here and especially for a food court setting so be prepared to cough up some money. After visualizing the cook through the restaurant I watch her make my meal. I notice she is running around the kitchen grabbing items from the fridge and putting them back in with no cover while cutting things. In my head I think wow so unsanitary coming from a food service background. I go ahead and take my seat and in about 10 minutes the food was ready. The cashier just calls out the food order and I pick it up. The bibimbap was sizzling than ever in the black stone bowl. It had a fried egg, radishes, beansprouts, spinach, mushrooms, and some pickled veggies below and a small amount of beef and a bed of white rice. I go ahead and mix it all up and incorparate all the ingredients together while letting it cook more. Quick time first bit and the taste was bland and not exciting. When i think about why its because it was just rice with some veggies and a small amount of meat. There was a bottle of gochujang sauce he provided as well but i didnt even want to touch that bottle because on the tip it had gunk from the previous uses and that right there just killed my vibe. After seeing that bottle it completley ruined my appetite and I wasnt hungry anymore just with all the thoughts going through my head. Everyone knows in the food service world to clean the bottle and top caps after each use with a hot watery rag! The seafood pancake wasnt special anyways and wasnt even crispy on the bottom. There was no color to it and char but just a bunch of squid and shrimp with no veggies.Meh, I expierenced better Korean food than this place with high prices and mediocre but not extravagant food I think ill find another place. If maybe they just tighten up there sanitaton and clean as they go and put a bit more love in there food I might be back.

Beef Tofu Soup - 4/5 - Simple tofu soup with soft tofu and beef. Not a lot of meat though. There were only 3 small pieces in my soup. The flavor was good. Comparatively, the tofu soup from the other korean place 1 stall over to the left (Yetnal Soondae) wasn't as flavorful. However, their tofu soup had a lot more ingredients and vegetables in the bowl.Shrimp Fried Rice - 3/5 - Okay flavor. The shrimps are tiny and the dish was a bit smelly. Maybe the kimchi fried rice would have been better.Dumpling - 3/5 - Standard steamed dumpling. Not a lot of flavor. Taste better if you put them in the tofu soup.We wanted to try the Galbi, but they were out. I may get that next time and see if it's good.

They are located in the food court section of Arirang market. I come to grocery shop a few times a month but rarely head to the food court since I just bought food to cook. The bulgogi on the other hand was a bit dry and lacking in flavor. For food court this wasn't bad at all. There was a good amount of seafood and had decent flavor. I do not understand how anyone can give this place anything other than 5 stars! This wonderful establishment has been around since 2001 (please excuse me if I got it wrong) and is tucked in the corner of the AR supermarket. I cannot believe I've been going to this market for so long and never knew this place existed until this year.How I would describe the food at this place is if I had a Korean grandmother this is what I imagine her food is like, it feels like home. So far everything I've tried has been delicious! Her beef short ribs soup makes my soul happy. I love soup in general but this one is so good I order it every single time I come here. Also, I've tried the varieties of her stone bibimbab and they are all so good regardless if I eat there or to-go it home. Please keep in mind it is just her working there so sometimes it might take a little longer to get your order but regardless I will support her and highly recommend her food to anyone! Especially during this hard time with the pandemic and all I would hope more people would come here and support her and her food.

Love love love the spicy rice cake and Kim chi fried rice. Very very tasty and excellent flavor. Love coming here. Don't even want to try anything else

They are kind and their food is so good. The portion is for 2 people even I ordered only the spicy seafood

Food is mediocre at best. Old couple is so unhappy and rude. Very unpleasant experience. Not coming back.
