Ive known about this fish market since I was a kid. Moms used to take my siblings and me here as a kid. Decades later, I take moms here. She loves this place. They have fresh fish at great prices. They are open a few days a week. The fish is great. Ive read some comments about the place possibly being under new ownership/management. Moms echoed those sentiments prior to reading the reviews. She based her sentiments on the new faves in the front and back. If it is under new management/ownership, it has not affected fish quality and prices.The negative is where this fish market is located...which is Green Meadows district...a low income/high crime/gang-infested neighborhood. Directly across the street from the fish market is a liquor store where smokers/alcoholics/druggies/prostitutes loiter/frequent. So it's a good idea to keep an eye peeled on your environment while visiting his area.In terms of safety....my advice is to park in fish market parking lot. Roll up windows. Lock all doors. Make sure all valuables are in glove, under seat, non visible, or inside trunk area.

I usually don't post reviews BUT I HAVE TO POST THIS! My mom has been getting her fish from here for about 15 years PLUS! And you could only purchase it and fry it yourself but NOW they fry it today was my first day letting them fry it I got 2 dinners today! With shrimp and fried oysters and I must say THIS MAN PUT HIS FOOT IN THIS FOOD!!! Well seasoned got it cooked extra crispy! My family has a new FAVORITE place to get our fished cooked at! I highly recommend this place! I think Los Angeles is sleeping on them! THANK YOU!!

I grew up in this neighborhood in my young adult years.Recent visit to this community notice they NOW fry. Never B4.Have returned several times.Enjoyed the fish , shrimp, Oysters, prices are reasonable. Friendly staff.However, notice owners changed. Sold to Mexican s. Along with a recycle business on lot. Then at night another group on lot cooking street food. .....three businesses on one lot.Now for years blacks worked in the fish market. Wonder why the business was not sold to blacks ! I'm noticeing black people are becoming invisible in the business community..and home ownership.

I've been coming here since I was a little boy with my mom, I'm 48 now and I'm still going.Fridays were fish fry nights, Buffalo and the red box of FJ lLard as a staple on friday's.The fish is always fresh and well prepared.

The only place I knew that had good buffalo fish. Purchase some last month came down today and its close down looks like its close for good they put a fence around the parking lot. Anyone know if they moved please put it out there

The only place in LA that sales Bluegill fish ... I'm from Michigan and I miss a lot of things back home .. Gulf Fish Market gives me a piece of Michigan in California

I found my Gar fish!! Heading back this weekend. I bought my Gar, Whiting, and Red Snapper uncooked.

This is by far the best fresh fish market in LA!! Whenever I'm in town I come here and stock up on the best fresh Fisk to take home!! Peanut's customer service is outstanding!!

I've been coming here since I was a young girl with my dad, I'm 50 now and I'm still going. The fish is always fresh, the staff is cool as a fan, can always get some polite conversation and some laughs. Don't see the old man much anymore. Id recommend this place to any and everyone.

Best fish, great friendly staff. I always get they buffalo, catfish, red snapper, shrimp, frog legs.. just the best fish ever.
