Went for lunch today and had a very nice experience. The food was very good for the most part. We got a lamb kabob platter, a chicken kabob platter a chicken wrap, kibbi, a spinach and cheese pie and a salmon platter. The lamb platter was fantastic with big, juicy pieces of freshly cooked lamb. All of the platters come with rice, which was nicely seasoned, hummus, and a green salad. I was told that the hummus is creamy and delicious. I also got baba ghanoush which was flavorless. The spinach and cheese pie was super tasty. I should've gotten a piece to take home. The chicken wrap and chicken platters were good and had lots of chicken. The chicken was well cooked and not dry. The dishes also come with two soft pieces of pita bread for dipping and such. The kibbi is made from ground filet mignon. I liked it and it went nice with the tzatziki that comes with it. I hadn't tried kibbi before and I would definitely get it again. The service was spotty. We weren't greeted when we came in and I was ignored when I asked if we seat ourselves. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to the table. Everything is served in to go packaging and the only trashcan is outside. The ladies at the cash register were very nice, shout out to Evelyn. The ambience is a small restaurant that is quite busy with both takeout and dine in customers. The only downside was that it was freezing in there.

So i guess it's time to give this wonderful restaurant a review. It is literally my favorite restaurant in downey. My personal favorites are the whole chicken platter, lamb chops and the gyro meat sandwich. The green sauce tops them off perfectly! Not only is the food 5 stars...the staff have become friends and every time I walk in there I feel so welcomed and at home. Everyone from the cooks (sammer) to cashiers (sandy) put a smile on my face! You guys are the best!

I consider myself a regular here and I can confidently say this spot never disappoints! I come here often, and the shawarma is my go-to dish. It's always flavorful, perfectly spiced, and cooked just right. Whether I'm in the mood for a quick bite or a sit-down meal, the quality is consistent and always hits the spot. The staff is friendly and attentive, the portions are generous, and I always leave feeling satisfied. If you're a fan of Mediterranean, this place is a must.

I've eaten at another great Green Olive that I think is part of the same chain, and it was bigger, while this one is fairly small with an outside patio. It was a great find anyway. I had four (four!) meaty lamb chops, rice, and a green salad, for $18.99 - an unheard of price in the area. Other menu options like gyros are significantly lower priced. It's counter order, and the place could use some updating - I took away one star for that and the tight quarters. But overall, I would definitely go back again when I'm in the area.

My craving for Mediterranean brought me to my girlfriend's stomping grounds in Downey to her personal fave: Green Olive. On New Year's Day, one would think local eateries would be pretty desolate but I was wrong. A line of hungry patrons was a good sign that the food would be good and it was delicious! I got the Chicken and Filet Mignon combo plate and both proteins were marinated and cooked to perfection. Was highly impressed and highly satisfied. Thank you Green Olive!

Arrived at 4:30, immediately sat down. Waiter was prompt asking us for drinks, etc. I ordered an old fashion, a little pricey $20.00, but it was made very well. My wife had warm water and lemon. I had shrimp kabob and wife had salmon kabobs .Both entrees were excellent. Overall very good service from hostess to waiter. 2nd time here, never disappointed. JeffDowney

First time dining in. First impression...rude host. She was annoyed as soon as she saw us coming. Maybe it had been a busy day. We ordered from the appetizer menu, yogurt dip. We then decided we wanted hummus too. I asked for the yogurt and hummus combo. They brought it to us separately and figured it was because of the time in between ordering. Fine. They ended up charging me the two appetizers separately rather than the combo which I had asked for. We had to wait quite a bit for the bread. Once the bread came, they brought us only two pieces. I asked for more. Were they giving us one piece per appetizer?? They brought one more. It was 4 of us. We couldn't finish the appetizer with one bread each. Then we asked for pita chips. They brought 5 pieces. At this point I was already bothered and didn't ask for more chips. On top of charging us for the appetizers separately, they also charged us for the chips. I guess we should have eaten the hummus and yogurt dips with a fork. It was pricey and not really worth the quantity and quality. Won't come here again.

Solid mediterranean casual spot to check out in the Downey area. The portions are well sized and I go here quite regularly. I've had their chicken shawarma, falafel, and recently their salmon kabob plate, which are all satisfying, delicious meals. I enjoy lathering their garlic sauce on the salad and eating the meat and rice alongside it. The salmon was not dry at all which surprised me. My mom is vegetarian and loves their falafel. One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes the staff can be quite busy and the food does take some time to prepare, so I personally like to call ahead and then pick up to eat at home.
