We're from out of town and were craving some wor wonton soup. This Yelp recommendation was in close proximity..the establishment was a cozy little hole in the wall, clean and well lit.We were seated right away and ordered what we came here for . The menu had a good variety of dishes that were certain to try on another occasion. The service was very good, with the waiter being attentive and friendly. The wonton soup was delicious..it had a lot of fresh mushrooms and broccoli and plenty of wontons and BBQ pork and water chestnuts..yumThe portions were also very generous and the cost was very reasonable. We're just passing through on the way to visit family but we'll make sure to make return visits here.

Delicious food! I've gotten take out 2 times and the staff is so wonderful. I've had the chicken chow mein, beef & broccoli & orange chicken. Everything I've had is delicious. I can't wait to continue to try new items. Service is fast! The restaurant is small and has old school vibes. I hope to eat there one day but for now take out is easier. Glad I found a local spot for amazing Chinese food

For some of the best Chinese food in all of Long Beach the Golden Phoenix is the best place to eat. The service and atmosphere is excellent. The place is small but roomy enough to fit a large party. There's very little wait time and they do offer delivery within a 3 mile radius.

Was in the area and came in for the lunch special. Cute little place and was bustling at lunchtime, only one table free. Friendly and prompt staff. I went with the sweet and sour shrimp lunch special. Egg drop soup was tasty and fresh, sweet and sour shrimp was crispy and very large portion. Only $12 dollars is near unheard of in the LA area. Highly recommend for Americanized Chinese food! Will be back.

OK, I initially put 4 stars, and then dropped it to 3, because I actually can't remember the food (this review is a few weeks old). Looking back at the pictures, I have vague inklings coming back to me.Vegetarian review:- string beans: kind of bland. I think that's pretty much it.- Fried tofu: not crispy. It could be because this was a to-go order, but really chewy and, uh, gloopy? Is that the right word? The exterior wasn't pleasant and yes, also bland. Not salty, not peppery.- Kung Pow tofu: also bland. Not tasty, and not fulfilling.You get a fair amount of food, but I think that's about it.

Amazing customer service. They were extremely kind and helpful and had my food ready as soon as I got there. The restaurant is like a hole in the wall, a little small, but I did not dine in. The food was good over all! I also got veggie egg rolls (not pictured) and they were fantastic!
