Galata Turkish Halal Grill Restaurant

We had plans to meet friends for dinner and decided to check out someplace close to home. We decided to show them Turkish food, plus it was an opportunity to check out Galata Restaurant, which is still relatively new (less than 2 years old). We were lucky to find street parking, but parking can be tricky in Belmont Shore on 2nd St; don't forget to check some of the public parking lots behind the main buildings too.The restaurant is not that big but is very bright and beautiful inside, with Turkish lights and mural paintings on the wall. Service was phenomenal, friendly, and attentive. We were offered generous refills of the delicious hot pita bread and dipping sauce of oil with sundried tomatoes. The Turkish tea, hot pomegranate tea, and fresh lemonade were also very good.The menu is extensive and prices are quite fair given the large portion sizes. We shared an appetizer sampler, and individually ordered various soups, salads, and grilled meats. Everything was extremely delicious and I was truly impressed with Galata! I really hope more people come to enjoy their amazing food and service!

This spot was on our list for a while, so when we were meeting our friends in Naples for the boat parade, we thought this was our best opportunity! What a charming little place! We loved seeing the Turkish lamps hanging above the dining room, the loud dance music, and the busy staff. This place seems to get a lot of foot traffic from customers along 2nd street, and we're glad to see it! In terms of food, we had hoped to order a chicken shawarma plate, but it was nowhere to be found in the small menu. Instead, we tried the chicken doner wrap, and it was dry and insipid. There's not much else to say about this unremarkable dish, but the fries were decent; not that we went into a Turkish restaurant expecting to eat fries. Would we eat here again? Well, there wasn't much on the menu that caught our eyes. I do appreciate the small storefront vibes, but this place just didn't do it for us.

My friend and I stumbled across this restaurant and we greatly enjoyed it! My friend and I have gone to turkey before so to find a place that gave us nostalgia about our trip was so nice! We love Turkish tea. My favorite is Apple tea- highly recommend 10 out of 10. Service was a little slow, but we did not mind it as we had a lot to catch up on. They give you some of freshly made pita bread and oil to enjoy at the beginning of your meal. We enjoy a chicken wrap which was delicious. We look forward to coming here again and trying more of their meals.

Small and cozy Turkish restaurant located on 2nd Street in Long Beach. Service was so great we felt very welcomed. No long waits. Food is so delicious. Highly recommend. Family friendly!

I've been very interested in checking out this place, having been to Turkey twice. The place is nicely decorated with those lovely Turkish lamps. The ambiance is pretty nice and the location on 2nd Street in Belmont Shores is nice. But why is the place always so 'quiet'. I imagine one reason is that they don't serve any alcohol: no beer, no wine, etc. which is not unusual for restaurants in Turkey given their Muslim population. I do not know if they will allow folks to bring in a bottle of wine or a can or two of beer. If so they need to let folks know this. My friend and I tried the hummus, which was very good and served with warm bread. We also received some complimentary olive oil with some spices with the bread earlier. The hummus was fresh and I appreciated the olive oil in the center. I ordered the Kofta plate and the meat was delicious. Tender and juicy. The dish comes with a small side salad - also nice and fresh with a light dressing. The rice was fine. I'm not sure why french fries also come with this dish but they were nice and HOT. My friend had the chicken skewers and said they were very good. We had intentionally left room to check out their Kunefe dessert and it was 99% there. It could have been a tad warmer but it was sweet and delicious. A nice size for two to share.So what was off? After being seated and given water, plates, silverware, etc. I had to repeatedly ask for more water, which was annoying. The place was fairly empty but our server/host seemed pre-occupied at times. Also, I had asked for hot water with the dessert opting not to get a warm, caffeinated drink. She was very nice in offering lemon with it, but I personally have a peeve that the beverage should be served BEFORE the dessert arrives. It's like getting your silverware AFTER the food comes. The place has a golden opportunity to do a little better and if they will allow wine and beer, I think they need to let folks know. Put a pleasant sign indicating that these beverages are welcome and have a cork screw and some wine glasses available. Charge $5 corkage fee.

This is a cozy restaurant with incredible food and service. I had the lamb & beef doner plate and an apple tea - both were fantastic and I'll be getting exactly the same thing next time. I've been excited to try this place for a while and I'm so glad that I did, it beat my expectations. I will be going back very soon.

Had lunch here with my best friend and everything was amazing!We had three plates (forgot the name of the last one)Adana kebab, Lamb & beef doner plate, and something else. All meals were absolutely phenomenal, with a perfect balance of different flavors and beautifully presented. The Turkish coffee was presented beautifully. It was also paired with a Turkish delight-which was as good addition to the bold coffee. The atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful and inviting-not to mention the service was superb. The presentation of the food, taste of the ingredients, and outstanding service makes it a restaurant that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting.Special thank you to Ferhat and Bilal for being attentive, professional-yet personable and making our dining experience a one of a kind.

first time guest tonight. was going to eat next door at the Lebanese restaurant.long wait and too crowded. decided to try Galata. WOW!!!! had the cold appetizers plate.( picture of it was posted on their glass door- needs to be bigger). HUGE plate.different yummy appetizers.toasted warm pita. amazing!!! service was superb. top notch. hubby had lamb chops. delicious. well made. I had kefta lamb kabab. wow! came with delicious rice. side salad so so. ambiance wonderful. felt like "home".friendly warm hospitality. comfortable seats. beautiful Turkish lamps, pictures and classy decor. a joy. The owner stopped by to make sure we're ok. Pomegranate tea and Turkish coffee was complimentary.served in a beautiful authentic Turkish dishes. We drove over an hour to get here. Will Definitely come back!thank you!

Was waiting to go to a nearby restaurant when the owner came to me and my friend and asked if we would consider trying out his restaurant. He promised it was delicious and man did he deliver. Food was tender and perfectly seasoned. And the staff was really friendly and prompt with the service. They asked if I would trust them to bring me food of their choosing and it was definitely a great choice. We were given the platter to share for two, some hummus, dessert and Turkish tea. It was a great meal and I'm so glad I decided to be spontaneous and eat there instead of the other restaurant. Would definitely recommend and will be going again soon.

Love this place the inside is so beautiful from the great deserts to delicious food and the people that work here really attentive and kind 10/10 experience!! 100 percent recommend
