Gaenali Bon Ga Korean Restaurant

Much thanks to Yelp and TikTok reviews for steering me in the right direction! This place did not disappoint. I've been wanting raw marinated crab but unwilling to drive to LA Koreatown as we were visiting from Vegas. For all the great reviews, I'm surprised it was not busier. There was a constant flow of takeout and dine in. The food and the ambiance felt very authentic (as in we were the only non-Koreans there). Also helps that it's only a few blocks away from Hmart.Overall, quick and friendly service! Besides the marinated crab, we also ordered the bossam and kalbi. I loved it all and left with a happy and full tummy. You know the place is good when you're still thinking about the flavors days later... Would definitely recommend this place.

Parking seems to be a little limited, but we managed on a Saturday night at around 6pm. No wait on seating, and the aunties are super friendly. I'm going to get right to the point... their spicy marinated crab was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Now I couldn't eat it every day, but wow - I'd be tempted!We ordered two other dishes:*The octopus stone pot, which was a bit lacking in octopus, unfortunately. * Seafood pancake: had plenty of shrimp, baby octopus, scallop, and crab. But it fell apart so easily. But, it was tasty!! We'll be back for sure!

Was craving raw marinated crab and saw that this place was popular on tiktok. We came on a sat night for a group of 10 and there was no wait at all. We ordered the spicy raw marinated crab, galbitang and the spicy beef brisket. The soups were so flavorful and comforting. I loved the flavor of the crab, it wasn't fishy at all and the sauce had a sweet and slightly spicy kick. The workers were also very nice and the food came out really fast. Will definitely be back!

I went to this restaurant for dinner and the moment I saw all the customers were Asians, I knew it was legit lol. The food is really good and the customer is so nice as it is like a family restaurant that is run by some Korean family. I really like the galbi as it flavors is really fit my taste. The price is a bit cheaper compared to another Korean restaurant, I forgot the exact amount. We mainly came here for the raw spicy crab, I didn't try it but my brother and his girlfriend said it tasted really good but a bit too spicy. One problem if you come during busy hour would be parking as it is really limited! That's the only concern.Overall, highly recommend trying it!

The worst dining experience of 2024 goes to Gaenali Bon Ga. This is mostly due to the server that was talking shit behind me and being rude. The food was also disappointing. There are plenty of other options around the area and will not be returning to this place. The inside of the restaurant is pretty basic.First of all, the server here was just super unpleasant to deal with. The 40-something-year-old Korean lady just looked pissed even before we were seated. Her overall attitude was unwelcoming and bothersome. She didn't care to greet us. Any requests that were made to her were answered but with contemptuous gestures. I am someone who usually doesn't give a shit about customer service and just wants some delicious food. However, this was out of line.I ordered Monkfish Soup because the menu doesn't mention anything about it being spicy. The picture on the menu also shows that it's not red like other soups labeled as spicy. When I asked the waitress if the soup was spicy, another lady next to her answered that it was not that spicy. While I was waiting for the food, I heard the two ladies talking to each other. One lady was concerned that the soup may be too spicy. My server was talking down on me in Korean saying I was the one who ordered the food and needed to better eat the soup. When the food came, it was as spicy as a soup could be. Maybe not Thai spicy but it was spicy by any normal Asian standards.At this point, I didn't care to argue with the shitty people and make ruin my day even more. I pretty much didn't touch the soup except for the fish. The fish was fishy and had an unpleasant frozen fish flavor. They should have cooked the fish longer.The worst server of my lifetime award goes to the grimy Korean lady at Gaenali. Left a $1 tip for the first time in my life.

One of the top raw marinated crabs I've had. Not fishy at all and the marinade was great. Also got the bibimbap with octopus and bossam. I would highly recommend getting the bossam as well. Service was good and didn't wait long to get our food. Plenty of seating and good amount of parking. Small shop run by grandmas so come out and support!

This place is sooo good!!! Must get their spicy marinated raw crab. The small portion is $30, but worth it. The crabs are meaty and big and perfectly seasoned!We also ordered their dduk mandu guk (rice cake dumpling soup), yukejang (spicy beef soup), and nakji dolsot bibimbap (octopus and veggies in a stone pot). Everything was flavorful, fresh, and delicious! All their panchan was really good too, especially the spicy cucumbers. I don't think you can go wrong here. Service was friendly and fast! If we lived closer, we'd be eating here all the time.

Talk about authentic! Love this place, it's a go to spot for my family. I've tried most of the menu and I recommend everything. The ladies who work there are super nice and helpful. The place just got renovated it looks so nice. Please try this place!

Alright, let me start off by saying if you looking for your typical homemade mommas cooked food, this is your spot. Not only is this joint authentic and straight from Seoul, you got a Korean halmunee (grandma) cooking all your meals from scratch herself in the kitchen. That's honestly rare to find these days and the food speaks for itself. This is a 10/10 mom and pops Korean restaurant. Everything from the banchan to the main dish is amazingly delicious. 10/10

Seating was fast, service was fast, food came out fast. Really satisfied with this restaurant. The side dishes were delicious as well. One thing that disappointed me tho is that my soup did not have any 고사리 (I think it's called Bracken in English?). Maybe the cost of it is expensive but the soup was still good regardless.
