Gaburi Chicken is bringing some authentic and delicious Japanese style fried chicken to the South Bay! This spot is located right next to the Torrance Post Office where there is street parking all around. Reservations are highly recommended but walk ins are accepted depending on capacity. Wifey and I stopped by for dinner with some friends and we had a reservation for 6pm. They have about 6-8 tables inside and a patio outside the shop with about 4-5 more tables. For their menu, they have a nice selection of different appetizers, noodle, rice, and fried chicken dishes to choose from. Wifey got the Bone-In Baked Chicken with Garlic Rice, the Ponzu with Grated Daikon Sauce, and an Orange Sour. For me, I got the 6 Piece Chicken Combo with Garlic Rice, Garlic Sauce, and a Frozen Lemonade Soda. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. Everything we had was delicious, comforting, and filling! I would definitely recommend ordering the garlic rice and choosing a sauce of your choice to pair with the chicken. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. From Nagoya, Japan to Torrance, CA - Gaburi Chicken is here to stay!

They had us wait even though there were tables available. It was kind of annoying especially since we've seen this place empty most of the week. When our food arrived, we weren't expecting the fried chicken to be... soft? It reminded me of the chicken that you get when you order black bean noodles at Korean-Chinese restaurants, but those have more bite and texture than the soggier chicken here. I would say it's worth trying the baked bone-in chicken if you're curious. We definitely preferred that since the fried chicken wasn't doing it for us. The udon and brussels sprouts on the special menu were delicious though! I'd suggest ordering more from the special menu. The ambience would have been fine had we not been right at the edge of the parking lot where we saw a car crash 20-30 fr from us

The best part of this place is simplicity. We started with some tasty pickled veggies, then we tried two pieces of the karaage chicken, which was tasty but not crispy. Our main was the most popular thing to order: the roast chicken on cabbage. What do they put on it? They don't--you do. They brought us a rack of four condiments: mayo, soy sauce, black pepper, and red pepper. Do you need more than to be happy? Not really. We ordered the side of rice, they dumped the chicken juice over the rice, and then we got creative with the condiments. Complicated is it not. Tasty it is.They also have some ramen, and a wine list. There are some very cool Soju and fresh juice cocktails.

2/7/2025GABURI CHICKEN NANBAN Read good things about it and pictures looked good too, so thought I'd try it for Friday lunch. Chicken nanban set came with a bowl of white rice, a small cabbage salad with a light, tangy vinaigrette, pickled vegetables, edamame and four pieces of fried chicken with tartar sauce on top. Everything was standard. The portion was not large. Their fried chicken was lightly crispy, but was not crispy enough. When you add tartar sauce on top, overall texture becomes soft and a bit soggy. It seems they batter and fry it without the chicken skin. So it is much less crunchier than expected. However, the chicken was juicy and hot inside. The seasoning was good. I think the flavor of the tartar was tasty. Didn't love the texture though. For reference, the chicken was the same crispiness as the a la carte fried chicken that I've had for dinner last time. But a bit soggier. Would not order the chicken nanban again. WAIT TIMEIt took a bit of time for my food to arrive. Not hating on it, as it shows they make it fresh, but still it took much longer than expected. Other customers who have ordered before me were waiting for their food too. I get it, it's lunch rush, but felt like my food took forever. Waited about 25-30 minutes. CUSTOMER SERVICEI was greeted immediately upon entrance and seated right away. There was already a lunch crowd, everyone was seated and waiting for their order. I finally got my order and started eating, but I wasn't even half way through my meal when one of the female servers asked me if I would like a take-out box. I didn't even ask for it. But I was pushed to hurry up and finish my meal. I've decided to do it anyway, as I was already full. I get they need to increase table turnover for the lunch crowd, but felt it was rude to make me hurry up. Ironically another server comes by and asks me if I'd like to order dessert. Lol. Being full as I am, I declined. Gotta clear the table, right? PARKING There is street parking only, but I found a great street parking spot right next to Haru Dental on Cravens & Marcelina. There's 2 hr. parking from 9am-6pm except Sundays.

Yummm...... Every item we ordered was amazing! We ordered the Gabukichi-kun, Thigh Karaage Bento, Cucumbers and the Matcha Tiramisu. The Karaage is juicy and flavorful. The Gabukichi-kun sauce is like a Japanese egg salad sauce over the chicken. Very unique in flavor and taste. The Matcha Tiramisu is..... delicious! The texture, taste, and look are all on point. I want to go back there again asap. There can be a long line, so it all depends on the days and times you visit. Thank you Gaburi Chicken!

Wow! What a great find located in Old Town Torrance. I came a few minutes after opening and this place was packed. A lot of the tables had reservation signs on them so the walk-in line gets really long.TIP: MAKE A RESERVATIONThe dishes are served in small, shareable sizes. I tried the cucumbers which were nice and refreshing but the price tag was steep for the little amount of cucumbers it came with. I also got the chicken thighs. Nice and juicy! The cod roe mayo and garlic sauce were really good with it. The miso chicken was surprisingly really juicy for being on a skewer. Lastly, the garlic rice was good but definitely add a sauce to it.Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would come back again!

This is my favorite chicken karaage in Torrance. I only ate during lunch hours, so would definitely be back for dinner. On different visits, I tried the mixed combo bento and also tried the breast only bento. Both were really good. Also sprinkled their homemade spices (I think you may have to ask for it). Can't remember as on my 2nd visit I had to request for it. If you have room for dessert, try their matcha tiramisu. Highly recommend! It was delicious!

This place is just like the one I tried in Japan! We made an RSVP for two at 5 p.m. (the time they open), and by the time we arrived, there was already a line. Pro tip: definitely make a reservation! The space is small and cozy, so booking ahead will save you the stress. They do have some outdoor seating with heat lamps, but we preferred sitting indoors. As for seating, the two-person table we were assigned was a bit tight. My boyfriend and I are both on the larger side (I'm tall, he's muscular), so it wasn't the most comfortable setup. People from the parties on both sides of us had to squeeze past us with their butt in our faces to use the bathroom, which wasn't the best experience. For that, I couldn't give 5 stars. On a positive note, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they took the time to explain the menu to us. We ordered a variety of items: cucumber salad, chicken skewers, whole fruit sours cocktails, Shaka Shaka fries, chicken gyozas, ground chicken fried rice, garlic rice, and, of course, the famous karrage (Japanese fried chicken). Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and delicious! The food is reasonably priced, and the small plates make it easy to share and try a bit of everything. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I'll definitely be back. I highly recommend!

As a big fan of Japanese fried chicken, I'm always thrilled when a new spot opens up in Torrance--and Gaburi Chicken did not disappoint! This cozy gem, nestled in the heart of Old Torrance, has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.In less than two weeks, I've already been twice!First Visit: LunchMy first stop was during lunch, when they were offering rice bowls that included miso soup. My mom ordered the Fried Chicken Bowl, which featured three pieces of perfectly crispy and juicy fried chicken thighs. I opted for the Chicken Cutlet Curry Bowl, which came with two pieces of tender chicken cutlet. The karaage (Japanese fried chicken) was outstanding--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and bursting with flavor. The curry in my dish was rich, comforting, and delicious. The side sauces--Japanese mayo and chili oil--were a thoughtful addition. While not necessary to enjoy the meal, they enhanced the flavors and paired beautifully with the chicken. The service was friendly and efficient, and the overall vibe of the place made it a great spot for a casual meal or quick lunch break. If I had one observation, it's that my mom's Fried Chicken Bowl, with its three pieces of chicken, felt like a slightly better value than my dish.Second Visit: DinnerTwo weeks later, I came back for dinner! During my lunch visit, they had given me a complimentary coupon for free karaage chicken with the purchase of bone-in chicken, so I couldn't resist using it. I ordered the bone-in chicken along with a dish from their special menu: Chicken Stir-Fried Rice Vermicelli.Just like my first visit, dinner did not disappoint. The complimentary karaage was once again crispy, flavorful, and a joy to eat. Pro tip: don't skip dipping it in the Japanese mayo--it's a game-changer!The Chicken Stir-Fried Rice Vermicelli, which included rice noodles, onion, cabbage, cilantro, maitake mushrooms, leek, carrots, bean sprouts, and green onion, was just okay for me. The flavors were decent, but it didn't stand out compared to the other dishes. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Bone-In Chicken. This dish features a whole seasoned chicken thigh, baked fresh to order in about 20 minutes. The wait was absolutely worth it--the chicken came out perfectly juicy, savory, and packed with flavor. I'm a big fan of the seasoning and preparation!Final ThoughtsGaburi Chicken is a fantastic addition to Torrance's food scene. Whether you're in the mood for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, this spot delivers delicious Japanese fried chicken with plenty of charm. I'll definitely be back for more!

Honestly I think my review is not really fair since I only got dessert. But the dessert is INSANE 10/10. I love it.The one I got is the Matcha Tiramisu and it delivers!! Would actually come here again just for the matcha tiramisu. Service pretty good, except it took so long to get seated even though there were plenty of seats available. They also don't have a waitlist so you have to make sure you know who is ahead of you.The place is pretty nice actually. overall, would come again as it is not extremely crowded.
