Upon arriving, it looks like your small, typical Mexican food, mom and pop restaurant. Do not let that discourage you from trying their food. We were greeted very kindly and welcoming by the staff.They have a pretty broad menu with your typical dishes and other delicious items. I stopped by Sunday, December 15 with my girlfriend, and we were interested in trying a variety of items which did not disappoint.My only negative experience here was the restroom not being properly attended to . The food was brought to my table in a reasonable timely manner. Come try this place, I know will soon be coming back.

This place has really gone down the drain. Cashier /waiters don't know how to be respectful and food is definitely not served in a timely manner. Waited over 45 minutes for a burrito and torta. That is insane! If you're in a time crunch STAY AWAY.

So I have tried this place two times now via Uber eats because let's be honest I've been lazy! But the food has been amazing! The first time I got a chicken soup and a pastor sope. The soup was fresh nice pieces of chicken and a came with a side of tortillas, rice and onion and cilantro! The sope wow the best sope I've had and great portion they definitely did not skip out on the meat.Today since I couldn't stop thinking about the sope I got the 2 sope combo with rice and beans pastor again and my mom for the lengua sopes great presentation, still hot and great portions and flavor!! Lengua is hard to cook and my moms lengua was cooked perfect nice and soft. I had ordered a cheese flan but they ran out and they were sweet enough to give me a coconut flan as a replacement plus a second free coconut flan for the inconvenience and I thought that was super sweet and it's what makes exceptional service!! I am super happy with the food and service will be my go to Mexican food place from now on!! Ps the coconut flan was amazing!!

Ate here 2x... once inside and once to go. The pancakes are noticeably fluffy... the Machaca Breakfast Burrito is great... the Chorizo con Papa Burrito also. Es comida estilo casera. The restaurant is clean which is a rarity in South Gate. Glad I discovered this place so close to home. Hopefully more places like this replace the crap Mexican restaurants in this Hood, getting tired of having to travel outside South Gate to get bomb food. Adding to go to spots list for breakfast! PS... the salsa verde/amarilla pica... pero con mucho sabor! Recommendation for the cooks/ owner... agreguen Café de Olla al menú!

The service is definitely trash. Very slow in taking orders and getting food. I came with my family for breakfast to celebrate my mom's birthday and it was so disappointing. They messed up our order about 5 or 6 times. They took no accountability, server never apologized for the inconvenience. Food was mid. Very underwhelming. Would not recommend

First of all, ask for Teresa, she is the best server on the planet. Everything that I've tried on the menu is delicious and the service is outstanding! My favorites dishes are the carne asada plate, the huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, tortas, chile verde, and i pretty much love everything I've tried. The servers are always friendly and pleasant. I wish every restaurant had such great employees. I highly recommend giving El Ranchero a try! THANK YOU Teresa for always making my experience at El Ranchero a great one!

Poor customer service. Walked in & the lady with the glasses (waitress) greeted us and we sat down. She didn't offer us the menu. We had to get it ourselves. Waited about a couple minutes for her to come to us while she catered to those already there. Another couple walked in and she services them before us. Not cool.We checked the spot. Train your employee to do better.
