El Mercado 2

Really great little local store. It can be a little overpriced but because of the convenience it's worth it. Also, this is the only local meat market that I have found that gives you the option of getting meat with no plastic packaging! I've been asking local meat shops if they have the option of wrapping meat in paper because -well, there's no planet B and so much of our plastic use goes into landfills which is terrible and wasteful- and finally I found this place. Just let them know you want no plastic and that you want your meat wrapped in paper and placed in a paper bag. Nice and friendly staff. We had to move out of the area but I hope other neighbors who care about the environment, and the local businesses, support this awesome business.

Meat market appears to be sketch but we've tried various meats many times and have yet to get sick!The carne asada is pricier than other mercados but its easy and on the corner. The chicken fajitas are definitely the best buy at the meat counter and are oh so good!Other than the meat, groceries are expensive but its convenient! Oh and cash only kinda sucks but thats life sometimes.

Love love this market! They have the best chorizo in town!I've been coming here for the past 6 years and they always have the freshest meat. I've tried buying meet for different markets but always end up coming back here.

Employees are really friendly. They don't mind helping you out in the store. You can't beat the prices and the authenticity of a Mexican Market. My girlfriend and I go here whenever we want to make anything Mexican food style.

Man this store is clutch to have a good taco tuesday, their marinated chicken fajita is awesome as well as their Carne asada. They have quality whole chickens also spare ribs by the slab. Memo is the man...

Respectful and nice service it's got what you need and a lil more will be coming back

The owner is a very nice man... but the woman that works there has no clue what customer service really is. Abrasive attitude always... She never wants to help with any customer questions... and everytime I am trying to check out, she is always on the phone gossiping with her friends. Even though I live close by, I would rather walk down to 7th Street to pay a little extra for better customer service. Plus for some reason, tax is 10% in that store. Interesting since the city of Long Beach is still 8%, last time I checked. I guess the tax rate is dependent on whether she has a good attitude or not. Honestly I feel bad for the owner, like I said. .. he is very nice man. The clerk, on the other hand, just an ignorant woman who is not happy working at this store. Her life is her punishment. .. Do not go here unless you are ready to deal with an indecorous attitude.

This is a very good small market for the neighborhood I live in. I buy all my carne asada and chicken here. Make sure you ask for it pre-marinated and grill it within 48 hours. I buy all my groceries and cigarettes at this place and I end up paying not that much more than if I went to Vons or Fresh and Easy.

Hands down, El Mercado 2 has the freshest meat in town. I've been living in LB for 6 months now and every time the employees greet me like a regular. If you live in the area, this place should be added to your shopping list. If it's your first time, I should warn you that this is not Vons, Ralph's or Grocery Outlet; El Mercado 2 has culture and it makes me proud to live in this city.
