El Baja Chef 2

I love this cute hidden gem in carson. It's hard to find a good shrimp cocktail these days! Plus they serve incredible MIcheladas and have big TV's to watch games. The menudo was out of this world! Not to mention the incredible portions. The owner came to our table to talk to us and share about himself and family. We will be coming here weekly for our dose of good Authentic food and good vibes.

I visited El baja chef today after waiting few weeks to try it. As I walked in, the restaurant looked clean and welcoming, the cashier welcome me with a good demeanor and attentive attitude, the menu is straight forward and easy to navigate. My selection was the aguachiles and here's where the visit turned unpleasant. The ticket time for the aguachiles was over 30 minutes, eventhou there was only 4 people in the restaurant. Now the food, the aguachiles were not appealing to the eye, eventhou the flavor is salvageable , the fact that the shrimp was not allowed to curate at all did not compliment the dish , you would think after 30 min there the shrimp would be marinated properly. Also there was no tostadas or crackers as customary with this dish. Over all not a good experience, I'm not sure if I go back other than Invited but like I always say " try it for yourself."

I had the supreme nachos with meat. My taste buds wanted ground beef nachos. Not on the menu. :-(

Food came out in a few minutes, the staff very polite. Happy to find a real coca cola here, it tastes so much better than the usa coke. Birria burrito is delicious!

Food was good .. tortillas hand made fabulous.. menudo was very good lots of meat not too much hominy.. just right .. salsa was good and spicy.. recommend for weekend menudo spot .

Was looking forward to ordering chile rellenos but the business has changed. We decided to give it a try and the fish tacos were suggested so I ordered it. Not bad, but for $4.99 each I would expect better quality and flavor. Even the chips and salsa was bland and similar to a bland catsup, chips are better at the grocery store.

Im still trying to figure out why you cant order a 2 item combo with a tamale and chile relleno. Its not one of the combos listed on their menu but have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants that will let you order whatever 2 items you want, I mean I dont think its a big deal to give me what I wanted. I also ordered 1 chicken and rice soup but when I got home discovered I had received 2 and paid for 2. Next time I will have them repeat my order to me before I pay.

My family and I used to love coming here for authentic Mexican food. After new management , the quality of food has completely changed for the worst. The chile rellenos are not the same and the beans were really old, if not expired. The chile relleno salsa tastes like a can of tomato paste. The chips were very stale. To pay for an order that's $70+, I expect quality food. I don't think we'll be coming back unless they bring the old management back.

Very mid menudo and pozole. The pozole lacked so much flavor, once I added salt, it tasted better. The meat they give you is 95% bone and 5% meat. They advertise all the time on the Carson 411 page "best menudo in town" but it wasn't that good, especially for the price. I also called in my order and they said 15 minutes but it ended up being close to 35 minutes. Probably won't be back.Update: my mom said the menudo made her sick. She was up all night going to the bathroom.We definitely won't be back.
