This Viet French bakery is 90% vegan. (They have a meat menu for bánh mì and pastries too). I wanted vegan fried chicken and a vegan meatball sandwich but both would not be available until another hour. I ended up getting the vegan lemongrass steak bánh mì and vegan empanada. The empanada had mushroom fillings with carrots and dikon, similar to a vegetarian egg roll filling. The sandwich was long! The bread was fresh, crispy soft and had a lot of lemongrass filling made with soy mushroom with an umami flavor and charred crust. Also got Viet coffee and penny worth drink. The coffee had a splash of half and half cream which was new to me. The penny worth was fresh and slightly sweetened.Lots of desserts, candy, vegan jerky. They make their bread in house. The website has all the baked goods listed. I was also fascinated that they offer service rental for Vietnamese tea ceremony!

Food was good. We tried the grilled pork sandwich and they were good. We also tried their croissants coconut and regular and my daughter loved them. Service was nice, friendly staffs. The bakery itself is quaint and clean. I'd come back again.

For my second visit, I got a BUNCH of stuff for a lunch with some vegan friends (all mention of meat below is vegan meat):- lemongrass steak banh mi- grilled chicken banh mi- fried chicken banh mi- pork spring rolls- empanadas - ham and cheese croissantEverything was delicious, but the star to me was the grilled chicken banh mi, which had the best balance of flavors. The baguette was crusty but soft--perfect. This place is a winner in my book, and now a part of my regular rotation of vegan eateries.

Located next to a stater bro, don't let the exterior strip mall fool you!The inside is cute and clean. Bakery has been around for 31 years!Ordered the coconut croissant and cafe su da. Crossaint was super flaky and light. Coconut gave it a sweetness, a nice breakfast treat if that's what you're into. All are at around $2.50-3 each. They even sell banh mi and you can make the sandwiches out of crossaint bread.Lady was friendly and I'd love to go back to try other things. LOTS OF VEGAN OPTIONS!

Stopped by Đông Hưng Viên Bakery on a Saturday afternoon, and it was a pleasant experience! The bakery is super clean and had a steady crowd, but they still had everything in stock, which was impressive. We picked up a vegan ham and cheese croissant, a vegan coconut croissant, and a taro mini cake--all for under $10!The older lady working there was incredibly sweet and even gave us free samples of their vegan fish and vegan fried chicken. Everything was delicious, and you honestly couldn't tell it was vegan. Highly recommend checking this place out for affordable and tasty vegan options. Definitely worth a visit!

Hidden gem. I tried a couple pastries and Vietnamese coffee was strong! My favorites are the baked char siu bun, vegan ham & cheese croissant, & taro bun. I wanted to try their fried chicken banh mi but they don't serve it before 8am. You need to spend $20 to use credit card, if it's less than $20 cash only

It's good quality bakery. I like the moon cake here . I have been a customer of Dong Hung Vien bakery for many years . The quality has always been consistent good. Loved the large vegan selection and the incredibly helpful ! The store is very clean and organized. The staff and owner are very friendly. Their prices are a little high but it's worth it for the good quality.

I stopped by this bakery on a whim after lunch for a sweet treat. The Vietnamese coffee was rich and strong (as expected), but I had to add milk after I got home to get it to my liking. I would still get it again, but I hope they have the option to add more milk in store next time. The cashier was really friendly and offered samples of the coconut croissant, which was surprisingly really good! It wasn't overly sweet like some of the French croissants I've had in the past. They had them for $1.75 each or 3 for $5. Unfortunately, this is just a takeout place (not much to comment on in terms of ambiance), so there weren't any places for me to sit down and enjoy my treats. They had a lot of other items for sale as well (including savory Vietnamese pastries and dishes). I came in for just a quick treat, but I would definitely stop by to try the other items the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Haiku: Dong Hung Vegan sandwiches Traditional baked itemsModern and clean space. ---It's not often you come across a cafe that has a plethora of vegan bakery items and banh mi sandwiches. They have options like vegan pate meatloaf, vegan chicken, vegan lemongrass steak, and more. They also carry the classic and traditional banh mi too.I got the Special Combination and Grilled Chicken banh mi and really enjoyed the crispy crust and soft interior of the french baguette and the flavorful meat and pickled veggies. Their meat pies are also flaky, savory, and filling.I'll have to come back and try their vegan banh mi and their colorful bakery items.

Very good restaurant. Good customer service. Great food. Phenomenal options for vegans. Only critique is the minimum payment of $20 (with a card). Definitely worth trying. Vegans try the lemongrass steak sandwich.
