I'd known about this casual neighborhood spot in Whittier for a while, but since it was a bit out of the way for us (coming from NELA), we never made the trip...until a recent date night when we finally decided to go. And wowwww, I'm so glad we did! This place is run by the nicest couple, Chef Tony and his wife Mandy, who make you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. You can tell they put so much care into both the menu and the overall dining experience. Tony has incredible connections, which means he brings in rare beers and top-quality seafood. The waitresses are so friendly as well - I enjoyed chatting with them. Every dish we tried was excellent, but our favorites were the Caesar Salad (omg those croutons are unreal!), the Poke Taco, the Crab Cake, and the Crab & Shrimp Pasta, which comes with the most amazing garlic bread. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.Even though it's a bit of a drive for us, we're already talking about making this a regular spot. Can't wait to come back again!

This restaurant was super awesome! Came here with a friend to try it out and was amazed by the food! The oysters were super fresh and the sauces were an amazing pair. They also were served in a quick amount of time which was amazing as our hot food took a bit of time to come out. The chicken sandwich was to die for! The bun was very soft and fluffy which paired amazing with the sauce and crispy filet. You can tell the filet is fresh as it was juicy on the inside and easy to eat! My only comment was it did take a bit of a while to get someone to help us out and we were confused as there wasn't a host stand or a sign saying seat yourself. Other than that, it's a perfect little date spot that's has a bar/chill type of atmosphere.

I was craving oysters and was so glad when I saw that this place was open rather late (past 8 p.m.) on a my partner and I made a late Thursday night visit that was so worth it.It's sort of a hidden gem - but not really hidden, per se.Located in Whittier with plenty of free street parking, you get great food - I can't speak to the drinks, but service was great, quick, and friendly. The ambiance at night was more pub-and-oyster bar like - if that makes sense? Dimly lit, a little hazy, with music somewhat loud-ish playing overhead but not enough to drown out your own conversation. You can do a nice date night, bring your more introverted mates to hang out, or even a solo night for good food! You have your pick up bar or table seating; we picked the latter and our server got to us within a few minutes with water and menus. We got:- French fries: $Loved the fries.- Crispy calamari: $17Very crispy; hearty portions - enough for 2 people; with a delicious vinegar-y & tart-y aioli.- New England chowder: $7 for the bowlSo warm, so heart, and with a lot of clams. I loved it.- 2 dozen mix-n match oysters: Not sure of the price, but it was worth it.Since we got the mix-n match, it came with all three that they offer:-- Blue Devil: Clean with cooling hints of cantaloupe and cucumber-- Baja Babes: Briny, crisp, saltiness with a sweet finish-- Kumamato: Mild brininess, sweet flavour, with a Honeydew melon finishThis is what I primarily came for and from where we were seated, I could see the oysters being shucked in the kitchen - loved that.I can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu!

CGK never disappoints. They take such pride in crafting a unique and tasty menu. I love that it's a local gem; not only do they nail brunch, but their dinners are exceptional as well. The chef's creativity shines through with seasonal menu updates, which keeps things exciting. One of my favorite things is having a local spot where I can enjoy oysters that are consistently fresh and delicious. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable, too, offering great insights into the flavor profiles of the oysters and even suggesting beer pairings.I appreciate having my go to dishes, but the rotating menu always gives me something new to try, so it never feels repetitive. It's definitely one of my favorite places to frequent

Hubby & I dined here twice before & just recently for lunch on a Saturday. Both times were satisfying! We ordered the raw oysters, Irish pretzel, & pork belly bun this time & the oysters were so fresh & the pork belly had a nice spicy kick to it. Ambiance is chill & laid back. Service was great both times! We'll be returning back to try their other dishes.

This place is great. If you're looking for a quiet place with good food great beer selection cocktails are limited but still good. Our waitress know Amy was fantastic, great personality, attentive, knowledgeable, and always had a smile on her face. The food was outstanding in my opinion.

Great food, great atmosphere, definitely a place to go for delicious meals and drinks. Calamari is a 10/10, just the perfect crispiness but so tender inside and the sauce is also delicious. Clam chowder is a 10/10, it is so good, if you're a clam chowder fan then this one is a must order. Pasta is great too, the crab and shrimp is so fresh. Bread pudding is nice, the texture of the bread is too dense for what I usually like for bread pudding, but the ice cream that comes with it is so sooo good. Service is good, the place wasn't crowded when we were there because it's after peak dining hours. We are happy with the friendliness and attentiveness of our host. Thank you Gaff Staff!

My boyfriend and I went here for a last minute Valentine's Day dinner. Was expecting a SUPER long wait. But they were able to seat us within 5-10 minutes. We ordered a mix and match of the oysters. They tasted fresh and I suggest getting a mix of what they have available. We got the crispy calamari. My boyfriend was so surprised because usually calamari has a rubbery texture but this one basically melted in your mouth. I got the Scottish salmon with orzo and it was a perfect balance. There's nothing I would I have changed about it. I believe my boyfriend got the filet mignon and we usually get it medium rare because usually restaurants still mess it up. It was so good and tender we wished we got it rare. We got the orange olive oil cake with caramelized blueberries as well as the CGK cookie. Both desserts were fantastic. Usually we never finish our food but every plate was finished. The staff was super friendly and helpful even if it was super busy.I really enjoyed my time here. The price was worth it. We'll be back soon rather than later
