Chong's Meat & Fish Market

The price was good. The food was good. The location was sketchy for me, but and the customer service was different because of cultural differences but I hope to soften him by offering to pay for the extras that I requested. Would I go back? Yes I would.!

This used to be a place where you get your worth but with Inflation and the fish is reduced big time. I went 12/21/22 it will not be returning back.Now I love my fish to have a slight crunch but this is ridiculous. I will have to steam this fish to even taste the meat. So I have search for a better place.

Excellent Customer Service!!!! The fish is awesome but the portions are even better! Chong isn't stingy! He's a "for the people" type of fish market. Why I say so? He accepts EBT for purchases. He has even upgraded to contactless payment. He also takes orders over the phone for pick-up. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food he serves. Parking is less than limited though. He has only one disabled parking spot and maybe three in the back depending on what time you come. Parking would be the only hang up. If push come to shove, park on 107th street and walk through the alley or on Vermont. He's conveniently steps from a corner liquor store and across the street from a laundromat. He's definitely in the right spot. He doesn't use too much salt on the fish and that's what adds to his fame. Very nice spot!!! Come give it a try.

Always plenty of fish too much fries and salad is just lettuce and tomato stacked but food is always good

Been going here since I was a kid and Derek was working here. I decided to stop by and man have the prices went up. I used to get the perch dinner which came with 4 pieces of perch. The lunch use to come with 2 pieces of perch. Now the dinner comes with 2 pieces for 20 dollars . Quality of fish is still good though

There are three things that every South Central neighborhood has; churches, liquor stores and fish markets. So the completion is fierce. Chong's and Etna's fish markets are three blocks within one another. We'd been loyal Chong customers for many many years but then someone told us about Etna's and we started frequenting them instead. Both places have very good food but I liked Etna's prices better so we left Chongs. But lately I began paying closer attention to Etna's prices and realized that all of a sudden they have gotten sky high. I've been paying over $13 for just one pound of cat fish fillets. But at Chong's I can get an entire catfish lunch ( 6 pieces of fish, two sides, and a roll) for only $8.99. I've been back to Chong's every Friday for three weeks and now I'm asking myself why I ever left. I work 8 minutes from Chong's. I place my order when I'm leaving work on my lunch break when I get there it's hot and ready to go. I'll never desert Chong's Fish Market ever again.

You definitely get your money's worth, they're always packed but they move fast, and the food is great!!!!

The best fish in the hood they give you a whole lot of food always on time. Food is always hot friendly good customer service skills when you order they tell you to come in 15 minutes and when you come is ready I love their customer service skills. I love how clean the place is.

Very disappointed Shrimp was fried in old grease, fries tasted a day old Never again. I spent $49 to be totally dissatisfied Shrimp dinner and two fish dinners Waste of money although the fish was just ok

Don't like the fact that it's cash or EBT only, but hands down, man down BEST fried catfish & chicken platters in LA!
