Charlie's Gyros

This place is amazing. I got the beef and lamb gyro, omg!!! The flavor, the portion, and the pita were perfect. Tasted super fresh! The service was great, greeted by a nice gentlemen who took my order. Him and the person helping him were very nice. The place is not too big but great late night spot. Plus an outdoor seating area. Will def be back, thanks for the great food and service.

I tried de beef and lamb friesTo be honest, the meat was kind of dry , if the meat was was not dry, I probably would give a four star . the flavor with the sauce and stuff. It was good. They put peppers. They're really yummy. My friend got the gyro for the same price as the price that I got and he said there was almost no meat he would have rather got the fries. And his flavor wise it was just OK.The experience was just OK that's why I gave it. Three stars. It was not terrible but was not great either

I'm honestly baffled by how this place has such glowing Yelp reviews. Did we eat at the same Charlies? After trying it out, I expected ratings to hover somewhere around "burn this place down." The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because the service was actually pretty good--shoutout to the guy who handed me one (ONE!) sauce packet.Let's start with the food. I ordered lamb over rice for myself and two friends, and the total was $56. Fifty. Six. Dollars. Look, I'm fine paying a lot of money for great food--but not for this. The lamb tasted like someone dared the chef to make it as awful as possible and they won. Easily the worst lamb I've ever had. This wasn't food--it was punishment.Oh, and the cherry on top? Two of us got horrible food poisoning. I guess my other friend lucked out because someone knocked his gyro out of his hand during a fight (yes, there was a fight). Honestly, that guy should send a thank-you card to whoever smacked his food--at least he didn't have to suffer through the "rat meat special."Speaking of "rat meat," if you're going to charge $56 for three plates of Greek food, at least give us something edible. Instead, we got overpriced trash that's clearly aimed at drunk Huntington Beach tourists who don't know any better.So here's the breakdown: Good service? Sure. Decent potential? Maybe. But at these prices, I expect food that doesn't send me to the ER. Until then, I'll save my money and stomach for literally any other Greek place.Save yourself the time, money, and dignity. Unless you're drunk and looking for a fight, skip Charlies.

Ok. I could've sworn I wrote a review long time ago. Hmmm! Anyway, we came here after a night at the Old Crow Smokehouse because their kitchen was closed and we were hungry. This place looked open and people were ordering, so we stopped by. (I've been here before, long time ago! So I knew the food was good!)We ordered (I got the lamb & beef gyro plate & my friend got a wrap), sat outside & then a bunch more people showed up! (That always happens when I go somewhere! lol!)The guys were fun to watch. He noticed us taking pics so he was giving us a show! lol! The food was yummy! Met some cool people outside. Good conversation! We got the baklava too! Mmmm! We'll be back for sure! Thanks guys, for being open late!

Truly the best gyro in Huntington Beach! I've been coming here for years and every time I eat here it always gets better. The service and the food were amazing too. Can't wait to come back here again.

Loved this place. Small joint but good food. The guys working there were cool and I ordered the gyro plate and the chicken fries. Both were pretty bomb and came out quick. Really loved the chicken fries though, something I haven't had before.

I wanted something good but not too heavy. I liked that they had tortilla and pita options if you wanted to keep it even lighter.However chicken didn't have much taste or kick to it and fries tasted stale.Not a place I'd go back again.

The food was amazing. We are visiting from Arizona and we were walking down the strip and saw this place I have to say it was some of the best gyros I've ever had I'll definitely be coming back to this place again!

Tastes great, fast service Came on Thanksgiving with my boyfriend and it was open late. The ambience was the perfect mixture of family-friendly and single life-lit (on a strip of lovely outdoors bars / restaurants) Would visit again next time I find myself hanging out at the HB pier!
