We came here on Mother's Day right when it open at 5pm and luckily we got seating before the crowd. We were greeted immediately and seated. Our waiter was very nice and gave us recommendations on sake and about our happy hour options. "I'm pretty picky about fish because I'm not great with fishy taste. Satisfied here because the fish here was fresh :)I ordered the spicy yellowtail and the fresh salmon. Both are delicious though I liked the spicy yellowtail best. The medium spicy house sauce (you can pick the levels) definitely had a bit of gochujang in it and it was very well balanced. I do think the fresh salmon could use a touch for lemon for a more distinct taste. But overall ver satisfied. It's a comfortable and casual spot, and service was very nice, so all in all very satisfied for a quick bite. I'll be back!"

"We were staying at the motel next door and thought we'd give it a try. It was a pleasant surprise and definitely proves the adage "Don't judge a book by its cover." The inside decor isn't remarkable but the food and service are!We were greeted promptly and sat quickly. Service was efficient and friendly. We were well taken care of. The menu while busy was jam packed with lots of options and many standard favorites. "Been coming here for over a decade. One of the hidden gems in the South Bay. Nothing fancy from the outside and the Interior has gone through a few renovations. Staff is as welcoming as ever and the food is delicious.My favorite dishes by far here are the Chicharron Mixto Al Ajo and the Tallarin Saltado. The green sauce is amazing here, I swear I almost finish a whole bottle everytime. I put that .... On everything. No joke.Chicharron is nice and crispy and a good mix of seafood from fish, squid, shrimp, and more. The garlic sauce is delicious. Though sometimes they make it a little too salty for me. But the crispy seafood, garlic sauce, rice, and green sauce to top it off is delicious.The Lomo Saltado is good, but I personally prefer the Tallarin Saltado. The noodles, onions, beef with green sauce is delicious.This boast we got the assorted sashimi. Excellent cuts and variety of fish.If you ever come with a large party, I recommend the chowders as well. Nice and creamy with lots of flavor."

"I am shocked that this place gets such high reviews. Maybe it's because people are comparing it to other AYCE sushi experiences. At $27.99 per person for lunch they cannot be serving high quality fish and still turn a profit. Food: The actual sushi/fish offerings are average at best. If you order any of their rolls it wont matter though. Because they will over sauce it to cover up the fact the fish have no natural sweetness. Their Tonkatsu ramen was very bland. Completely lacked the richness characteristic of a Tonkatsu broth, and the marinated pork had no flavor. Service: The restaurant was roughly 80% full yet it still took 15 minutes to get my first order of sushi. You certainly do get what you pay for in life. At this price point, it's possible that I'm expecting too much."

"I came to this place because I heard it had authentic Japanese chefs. Keep in mind, because of this marketing, as well as the fact that they import their fish from Japan, the prices are going to be sky high. It was like $5 for one piece of nigiri, or $30 for a fish collar. This place is very popular, so make sure to make a reservation or come like 10min before they open, as people will line up outside the restaurant.Getting that out of the way... It was a great restaurant in terms of the Japanese vibe and authenticity. The chefs are indeed Japanese and you can ask them questions about the dishes which they will answer skillfully.We did not go here for sushi, though there were many people ordering omakase here. We ordered a variety of their other dishes, including two fish collars (salmon and young yellowtail), the crab stuffed salmon, tempura, and liver. The highlight for me was the salmon collar. Fatty and moist, it was easily the most delicious dish. It far surpassed the young yellowtail, which wasn't as fatty and tasted fishier. The tempura came out hot, but it had such thick batter that I was overwhelmed by the oily taste. A thinner batter would've been better to let the shrimp shine. The stuffed salmon was okay. The crab inside was yummy, but the salmon on the edge was not. I did not eat the liver so I can't say whether that was good.I'd like to one day come back for their omakase experience, where I can talk to the chefs at the bar."

There's a large variety of options, but I went straight for the specialty rolls. I ended up getting 2 rolls, one XOXO and one love your smile. Both were fantastic. They came out quickly, and tasted fresh.Overall I had a great experience here and would come back. It's not really cheap, but good sushi places typically aren't. For a reference point, our total was almost exactly $100 after tax and tip. Together we had 2 bottled beers and 4 specialty roles.The restaurant is a bit tight and a little cramped, but the food more than makes up for any discomfort.I'd definitely consider coming back here if in town again."

For $17 before tip, I asked for mild, and they nailed it--the soup wasn't watered down, just a slight kick, with the seafood adding a nice savory depth to the broth.Now, about the banchan--wow. Normally I'm all about kimchi, radish kimchi, and a bit of fishcake, maybe a bite of the potato salad if I'm feeling adventurous. But here? I ate all five banchan clean! The seaweed salad was thinly sliced and crunchy, the broccoli imitation crab salad was a fun new addition, and the kimchi was perfectly tart and crunchy. There was also a tofu kimchi with some dry pickled fish that was salty and savory, pairing perfectly with my rice and soup. But the real highlight was an apple/radish cream salad--seriously, it reminded me of those Mexican fruit salads with walnuts. As soon as you walk in, it wasn't packed so I found a seat immediately which was nice. The space has a beautiful mural of a Korean village behind the counter, and the open seating made for a relaxed vibe. The hostess was super kind and helpful, and I couldn't help but smile when I realized The Cranberries were playing in the background. Throughout my meal, I was serenaded by 90's nostalgia--Cher, Sixpence None the Richer, and even some Latin tunes. It felt like a musical time machine! Plus, the place was impeccably clean, which always scores major points in my book.Ambiance - Customer Service:I didn't catch the name of the hostess/server, but she was a gem--friendly, checked in regularly, and overall made the experience so pleasant. There's a button on the table for when you need something, but seriously, people: use it responsibly. This place was acquired or under new management as of a year ago and they changed the name, They no longer serve sushi and have leaned into offering more Korean dishes, which I think is a smart move. "Their flavors are phenomenal! My husband and I shared a spicy chicken sandwich and tenders meal and the spicy seasoning/powder they add to the chicken is delicious. Their flavors aren't as spicy as some places but there is a good kick to it! My niece got popcorn chicken with one of their signature sauces, it was very flavorful and delicious. It was our first time there so we took some time to decide what we wanted to order. The man taking our order (and running the whole show in the kitchen) was so helpful and answered all of our questions. He even let us try out some sauces to make sure that we like it before we ordered it. He made sure we got everything we order the way we wanted it. Highly recommend this place for the delicious food and great customer service."

I got to order a crunchy roll and paired it with an ice-cold Sapporo. I also ordered a side of chicken karaage, a favorite of mine. My crunchy roll was yummy. It had shrimp tempura and asparagus with tempura flakes and eel sauce. I enjoyed it. I also tried out a rainbow roll. The roll was a California roll with assorted fish. My favorite out of each roll was the sashimi one. I will be back to try out some more stuff and find my go-to sushi roll. I also want to try out their dinner menu. Very small indoors but enough to seat 5 ppl at the sushi bar, and perhaps 4-5 tables to seat maybe 25 ppl. It is in a plaza with numerous Korean restaurants, liquor store, and a Fantastic Cafe, too. Plenty of parking. The menu is quite simple, perhaps few rolls that most of us are familiar with; rainbow roll, California Roll, Dynamite roll, and hand rolls , sashimi and I liked that the albacore roll was the first thing mentioned. Plus they do have decent lunch menu and quite affordable from $15.99- $19.99 depending on what you like. I really don't care for shrimp but they do offer some. And if you buy 2 rolls, they give you soup and salad with your meal. It was fairly quiet, and the service was super awesome. I dropped my chopstick and the chef quickly gave me a new pair. Here I was lazy to ask for one and they noticed it right away. Love the service!! And I asked who created these beautiful origami dragons and other animal ones and Tim the owner created them all. Superb and talented!!The Albacore sushi roll was super duper good and the salmon hand-roll was awesome too. Enough food for me.Second day I craved more sushi and returned 9.21.24 at 2:25p and luckily caught them before closing till dinner menu at 5pm. I did not know that Saturday they close midday from 2:30p-5p and Tim was super cool in taking my order as long as I was taking it to go. And this time the poke bowl:) Yummy choice and had him change the fish selection to just albacore, my favorite and indeed it was my actual birthday lunch to go they gave me miso soup too. Gosh the fish is fresh and I ate that poke bowl quick!! The server remembered me and happy I returned for another sushi treat. I love smaller restaurants and Tim has had the Sushi Gallery for 18 years here at this location. Very cool it's only 7 mins from me and the 91 freeway on ramp is a block away from the plaza!!! Yay !! Now, Why a 4? Well, I really do wish there were more big slices of fish on the poke and the roll. But decent enough during these " trying" times of 2024. Ok im being emo for sure."

Not only is the food delicious, but it's good value. My fiancé and I got udon, katsu set with curry + California roll, and a baked salmon roll all for around $50 (excluding tip). Definitely, lots of food for your money! The only downside was that the tempura for the shrimp tempura udon was soggy since they place it in the broth. A pro tip (for myself) next time would to ask the staff to have the shrimp tempura on the side :)"

There was too much rice, rice overwhelmed both rolls. I loved this place in S Mart but I don't think it's worth the drive. The prices are reasonable but not as reasonable as previously which is understandable. The service was friendly and the rolls came out quickly. I wish they were as good as I remembered them to be. I know sometimes the chef can mismake the rolls so I may try again but only when I'm in the area."
