"I heard so many great things about Down South Chicken House that I decided to give them a shot! Ordered the fried chicken waffles along side peach cobbler! Let's start off with the service, 2/5 the girl the phone didn't seem please to be serving me at all! I figured probably having a bad day so I let it slide. However when waiting on my food the delivery took over 2hoursss!!! To make things even better, once I received my food it wasn't even warm anymore! The chicken wasn't even cooked all the way! Waffles all soggy! The only thing that was decent was the peach cobbler! Save to say I won't dinning at this establishment anytime soon! Don't take my word for it! See for yourself!"

"The Attic - A Culinary Gem in Long Beach We needed a meeting spot between Orange County and Los Angeles, and The Attic in Long Beach seemed like the perfect choice. The drive from LA was lovely--crossing the bridge, passing the cruise ships, and seeing the hardworking longshoremen at the docks--a surprisingly emotional and beautiful experience. Arrival & Seating Our reservation was for 11 AM, and upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hostess. We requested a table for three and were seated between the patio and the bar, with my seat positioned in the aisle. While the restaurant was nearly empty, I immediately wondered why we were placed in such a high-traffic area. In hindsight, I should have requested a different table. Throughout our meal, the barback, waiters, hostess, and even customers brushed or bumped against my chair, making it uncomfortable. Pro tip: If you visit, avoid sitting in the walkway--you'll feel it the next day! Ambiance & Space The restaurant itself is spacious, offering a variety of seating options, including indoor dining, front and back patios, and a full bar area. It comfortably accommodates at least 75 guests, making it a great spot for groups and gatherings. Food - Absolutely Outstanding! Now, let's talk about the real star of the show--the food! I ordered the Vego Mi Ego Sando, and let me tell you, it exceeded my expectations. - The housemade bread was perfectly toasted. - The veggie patty (a flavorful blend of beans and other ingredients) was thick and satisfying. - Topped with roasted eggplant, avocado, whole-grain mustard, onions, and perfectly blanched kale. - A fresh squeeze of lemon tied everything together beautifully. This was, without a doubt, the best vegan burger I have ever had! Drinks I ordered a pineapple juice, and it was incredibly refreshing. The best part? The server didn't add ice, allowing me to enjoy the pure, fresh pineapple flavor without it getting watered down. Whoever juiced it knew exactly what they were doing--it was perfection! Service & Staff - Warm, Attentive, and Friendly Regardless of the seating hiccup, the staff was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely warm. They weren't aware that they were brushing against my chair, and neither were the customers passing by. Apart from this minor issue, the service was outstanding. The entire team was kind and gracious, making us feel welcome from the start. Our waiter recommended the burger, and I salute him--he knew exactly what he was doing! The staff checked in frequently, ensuring we were enjoying our meals and making us feel like valued guests. Even as the restaurant got busier, the service remained top-notch--quick, friendly, and accommodating. The team handled everything with ease and professionalism, making for an all-around great dining experience. Final Thought Despite the seating issue, I would absolutely return for the food alone. Next time, I'll make sure to request a more comfortable table. Pro Tip: Ask for a good seat, trust the staff's recommendations, and get ready for a fantastic meal! "Great place for large gatherings, chill outings and family fun!We came here earlier today to celebrate my aunts birthday. There were 11 of us including one toddler and we were able to get a same day reservation. Our initial plans fell through but this restaurant and the activities they had worked out much better for all of us!We had an early dinner and did ax throwing. We were a little worried about how that would work with a toddler but the restaurant is so large and we had enough people who just wanted to stay at the table that things worked out. I was surprised to see so many kinds in this restaurant but it was nice and there's definitely enough space for the kids to run around in the activity areas. Unfortunately the food/drinks were OK at best. I ordered the jambalaya and the rice was overcooked...the whole plate was kind of a mushy mess. my the jungle drink was OK. My husband ordered an espresso martini and a watermelon mojito. Both those drinks were fine. I enjoyed the ribs but overall the food had mixed reviews. I'd probably stick to BBQ. The service was great! Our waiter was friendly and fun. Our food came out very quickly! Will definitely be back!"

I got the red snapper dinner that comes with 3 sides, in which I chose collard greens, yams, and mac n cheese (my favorite in that order) and 2 cornbread muffins. Fish is crispy and made fresh to order, collards greens are sweet n tangy, yams are sweet with cinnamon and nutmeg on point, and mac n cheese is cheesy. And thank you lord the cornbread isn't dry! Behind the counter were 2 of the sweetest ladies! Tip them when you go because that food is made with love! Scheming now to figure out when I'm coming back!"

"Good stuff.. Fried chicken, fries, shrimp and fish was freshly cooked. We ordered the seafood combo. 15 shrimp+2 fish and it comes with rolls and fries. Or you can change it to rice. The chicken and fish had a little kick to it. Spicy as my daughter said. It was good and tasty don't get me wrong. But the fish seemed a little undercooked. The shrimp was my favorite. Fries is freshly cooked and good. The rolls well they gave us a entire bag and since I had fries I could not eat the bread. But I loved the shrimp. I want to try the chicken strip next time. So YES I am coming back. But to this one only cause my cousin said the other Louisiana restaurant are not good and don't taste the same. This one is the best one. It took probably 15/20 mins for our food to be done but I knew it would be fresh cause we did order the 20 piece. The service was cool. Place has four tables. Thick protection glass but what for there is a big hole where you order and pick up. Lol but other than that. This place does NOT take credit or debit cards. But it ONLY take CASH or EBT!Parking is in their lot since they share it with other stores. So private lot in the plaza.."

It's a combination of a southern food restaurant and a Golden Bird fried chicken franchise, located on Western Ave and 149th in Gardena.The oxtails are my favorite. They have delicious smothered pork chops, meatloaf and turkey. Their gravy is tasty! I also had the turkey chops, which I should have ordered with that gravy. The fried chicken is very good, and you can occasionally get it on special -- I've been there twice on Sundays when they've had a 2-piece special with fries for $2.99. I've also seen a bbq special on weekends. The turkey dinner I had was also a Sunday special, it included a big wing on top of a bed of stuffing, two sides and a bit of cranberry sauce. The sides are fine, I liked the mac n cheese, string beans & potatoes, potato salad, red beans, black eyed peas, corn and collard greens.During these Covid times the small dining room is closed, everything is to go. Social distancing and masks are enforced, and there's hand sanitizer if you need it. You can wait outside for your order, it usually around 15-20 minutes, but a lot of folks call their orders in advance for pick-up. Parking is easy, non-metered street parking readily available plus there's a small parking lot behind the business.Dare U To Care Grill is owned by the same folks who operate the Dare U To Care substance abuse facilities around LA. The restaurant helps support the work of the care centers. You can eat well and support a good cause while you're at it. Ok"

Mrs. Knott's Chicken to go is the perfect solution (especially when driving back home to San Diego). The family and I love the chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, and corn. And don't forget the gravy! I always order and extra pint of gravy. Not only for the food we bring home but I like to use the extra on a baked potato the next day. They also offer chicken noodle soup which is good and chicken and dumplings equally as tasty. You can also get beer and wine to go (the boysenberry is soooo good). Even when crowded the staff is friendly, helpful and good comes out hot, fast, and fresh. Chicken to go is decor for the holidays and merges on with the bakery (quick and easy to pick up some sweet treats while you wait) and the merchant store for more to go take home goodies (homemade candies, fudge, jams, ect). One stop shop for everything!"

Bomb! I got the rip tips which could have been a lil more tender but they were good nonetheless. The fried cabbage. Bomb!! The bbq baked beans were good too. I hope this is not a hit or miss place because I most definitely will be back to try their mac n cheese, yams & greens! It's easy to find..sits on a corner and there's street parking. I didn't even notice if you could sit down to eat but its pretty small. The young lady that answered the phone and was at the cashier was very nice but would benefit from some additional training, specifically in customer service & phone etiquette."

"This restaurant needs to close it's door's. I have never had a restaurant identify as SOUL FOOD, but serve you horrible food out of a can. If you've never been, I suggest you don't waste your time. I ordered a catfish meal and paid for a few extra sides and it was a complete waste of my money. The potato salad tasted horrible, like a 3 year old made it. The yams were undercooked and looked like it was right out of a can. My fish was not fried crispy like a requested, instead it was falling apart and soft. I was beyond annoyed. I called back and explained that my food was not cooked properly and the preparation was horrible, and I was told I should have checked my order and looked at the fish before I left. Then said thank you and slammed the phone down. Never offered to refund me my money or even a portion of it. Or at the very least could have offered to discount my next visit (although I'm never going back there again) as a kind gesture. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. You'll be highly disappointed."

Jambalaya bowl dry no juice @ $12.99 After all our food the hubby ordered banana pudding & peach cobbler @ $8.50 We all dived in and enjoyed shared bites if each desert even had plenty to take home. The atmosphere was so relaxing, I seen regular customers come in being greeted by thier names and would you like that same Jambalaya today sir was asked. We almost had to wait for a table but then squeezed into some seats in between 2 groups. The ambiance wasn't much, pretty bare bones - the basic look that have you expecting the food to be delicious. Once seated, the Server came out with menus and ice waters. I ordered the oxtails with no sides and no gravy. I later added 2 eggs over easy. While we were waiting for our food, a table opened up and we began to move to that table. The Server told us that we couldn't have it as a couple had been waiting for that table. However, that couple had arrived before us and had placed to go orders. The gentleman had to correct the Server and then we were allowed to take the table.The food came out quickly. My order was was correct and my family's just had too many biscuits. The oxtails were well seasoned and delicious. I was definitely quite pleased.Later the bill arrived and was given to my family member. They quickly noted that we were charged for more meals than we had ordered. They pointed this out to the Server who took the ticket back to correct it and brought it back with a "my bad". When my family went to pay, they said that it still wasn't right and the cashier had to correct the bill again. Hopefully, the Server was just having a one-off bad day but otherwise my oxtails were good and I would order them again."
