"On a recent trip to Newport Beach, my boss told me he was tired of Nobu and challenged me to find something he'd like better. Fully convinced that both my job and my reputation were on the line, I aggressively researched all options before landing on Tavern House.Spoiler: I was triumphant.From the moment we walked in, the staff were each more pleasant than the last - from the hostesses who knew we were visiting from NC to the absolutely tremendous Nori, we felt cared for and welcomed.The wine list was one of the better curated lists I've seen recently - was absolutely tickled to see my favorite Orin Swift in the bottles (8 Years in the Desert) plus his Prisoner by the glass. We landed on Austin Hope as the ideal complement to our dinners.We started with the barbecued chipotle bourbon oysters, which were *amazing* (and as the thing that made me choose the restaurant initially, they lived up). Around the table, we had the Kurobuta double-cut pork chop, the prime rib dip, the seafood special I forgot, and my own French Onion filet. That filet was the best damn steak I have EVER had. It combined all the wonderful elements of classic French Onion soup with a perfectly seared filet. With frites, y'all!!! We also shared an order of the charred Brussels sprouts, which were also fantastic. Somehow, we saved enough room to risk ordering dessert: a key lime pie martini (dubbed "proper delicious"), the carrot cake (fine. It's dessert laced with vegetables, so), and - drumroll - Bananaggedon. I would come back for that alone and I'm not even a banana fan. So ridiculously over-the-top and easily served our table of four. Even those more excited for carrot cake quickly abandoned that plate in favor of this. Meanwhile, we had a lovely view of the water - complete with fireworks over the Bay! The restaurant was fully decorated for the holidays but I imagine it would have been equally cozy and welcoming even without the seasonal additions. All told, this meal easily crossed into my top 3 for 2024, even accounting for recency bias. It's now a must-visit for every future work trip (we even added it as a top choice in the guidebook we give all visiting execs)."

"Normally, I'd give a four star but there's a new policy that we objected to, so read on.My friends and I eat here often and have always enjoyed the experience, food, service, and staff. Tonight we were surprised to find an extra 2.75% fee attached to our bill for using a credit card. We found this laughable because the cost of the food didn't decrease by this same amount. Math people will get this. On the flip side, the poor servers are the ones that are being hit the hardest by this fee. Customers by default want to discount the servers' tips. People understand this is a corporate decision, please don't penalize your servers. This change hits them harder than corporate. Come with a debit card or cash and pay your server with cash. FYI: I learned tonight; that the waiters pay the tax, not just on the tips they keep, but also on the tips they share with the busboys and kitchen staff. Wow! Thank goodness that in 2025 the wait staff won't have to pay tax on their tips!"

"only writing a review because of the current 3.9 stars when they absolutely deserve at least a 4.5. we came here one night when we had to wait for sushi at the spot in the lot and now crave this place regularly. I think we've tried most if not all the appetizers including the 48 hour fries, chips and dip, deviled eggs, tuna tartare, tostadas, and bacon wrap dates. The dates while a common place that many restaurants are so good here for really what stands out is the deviled eggs with the crab. When it comes to entrées, we order the halibut every time, the celeriac purée is so good it will have you licking the plate. Desserts and drinks are also incredible here just truly can't go wrong"

With summer in full swing; it certainly was a lovely start of the day to have brunch here at R10 Social House.Despite being a South Bay native and someone who has frequented the Redondo Pier; it was my first time ever to check out R10 Social House. I loved the wooden interior, chill ambiance and the view of the marina. I was seated downstairs but I also learned there is an upstairs area where events can be held. I got a little sneak peak of the upstairs area and was in awe of the view up there as well. I have to say I made a mental note for possible events here in the future. I can only imagine how gorgeous the view of the beach sunset is from here.Not only were the views from this restaurant something to talk about; their brunch food was also quite delightful. Being a lemon fan; I chose to get their Lemon Ricotta pancakes. The Lemon Ricotta pancakes were divine! They were so fluffy. I loved the toppings of blueberries and toasted almonds too. This dish really expected my expectations. I'm a lemon fan but totally didn't expect that I would enjoy this dish as much I did. I highly recommend.Overall I enjoyed my first time at R10 Social House and can see why many Redondo Beach pier vistors go here. Food is great, views are great and location is great. I found myself enjoying a nice stroll to the pier that was right there right after brunch. A visit here really is a nice way to kick off a beach day. Happy brunchin' and happy beach day!"

The cocktails were a perfect start - I had the Good Vibes, a great mix of jalapeño-infused tequila and citrus, and the Lady Lavender, which was light and refreshing with grapefruit and lavender syrup.For appetizers, the Ahi Tuna Tartare was super fresh, and the taro chips added a nice crunch. The Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly, tender and full of flavor, while the Short Ribs were fall-apart delicious with Brussels sprouts and blue cheese whipped potatoes that hit the spot.I also had the Andrei's Chop Salad - fresh, full of roasted chicken, avocado, goat cheese, and candied walnuts. It was a nice, lighter option.To finish, I tried the Lemon Butter Cake, which was tasty but a bit on the dry side, and the Chocolate Budino, which was rich and amazing. Came here with my family during a staycation and made a reservation in advance. It's $85 per person and you can charge it to the room if you're staying at the property or with credit card. Indoor and outdoor dining available. There is a kid's buffet area with wings, pizza, mac & cheese, etc. as well as meat options (ie prime rib, tomahawk, Mary's chicken). The dessert bar was well stocked and they have ice creams as well. The mango sorbet was the surprise hit of the night and my family went back for seconds (and thirds). It is good for large parties as well as for special occasions, though many people were dressed casually. Overall, this was a spot to go to if you're hungry and looking to eat at a fancier buffet. "I am a sucker for a restaurant that makes their own pie! Amarith Farmhouse was just the ticket. We had lunch there on Wednesday. The pies were on full display in the bakery case.They also offered fresh, house-made donuts!!!! It is almost like they planned the food they offer just for me! You can tell already that I really enjoyed my lunch, right?The service included a friendly counter girl, prompt delivery of everything we ordered accurately and quickly. The decor is very homey, and country-casual.My chicken avocado club sandwich was delicious and had plenty of bacon. The onion rings were light, crispy, hot, and perfection. Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted by the host and a wall full of wine. The host takes you to the back where the salty air and smell of wine permeates the room. For those of you who like to be surrounded by the wading boats and laughter in the room, this is the place where you can forget your arguments and be truly present. Come and order a drink for the occasion. I got Endless Summer and truly, it was the last drink before the season changes again. As an appetizer, I got the octopus, a small dish where you'll still have room for more food. As the main entrees, I got the fish of the day and of course, the lamb. If you ever had lamb anywhere else, well, those restaurants cannot compare to this one at The Dock. The lamb was cooked nicely and without the gamey taste, which is my preference. I would go back here again for the location, good, and ambiance."

We got an email from Shade/Zinc saying that there were doing a dinner and we thought that would be fun! We're locals and have been there for happy hour and the food (and drinks) were always pretty good. When we made a reservation, we asked to be inside since it was a bit cold that day and it gets chilly and damp in MB at night. When we got there, the guy at the front started to seat us outside. Luckily, the manager was there and changed things for us back to the inside. When we sat down, the wait staff we had was a bit rushed (but at least nice). The menu was $95 for 3 courses (bread, salad, main and dessert). We ordered drinks (pretty good) and then had to wait a bit to order. When we were sitting there with our drinks, we noticed that it was pretty cold inside. People were all wearing jackets - including us. Why? Both entry doors were propped open creating a nice cold breeze. We asked the waitstaff to please consider closing at least one of the doors and they said they would "try". Sigh.Next, the food came out. Bread was meh and the salad was miniscule. When the mains came, at that point I asked for another cocktail. My wife had the polenta (didn't finish) and I had one of the meat dishes. Pretty unforgettable and a bit tough (I can't even remember what it was lol). once we finished the main, the wait person came back and said my cocktail was on the way. I had them cancel it since it was so late in arriving. For dessert I has the cake popsicles (3 tiny ones). The dessert reminded us of what we could get at Peet's Coffee. Sigh. At this point, they finally closed the entry doors, nearly 90 minutes later. Maybe the baby in a carriage bundled up in blankets in the middle of the dining area got it done. It was a very funny Christmas experience. We laughed quite a bit on the way home."

I got the gravy on the side, just in case I didn't like it. It was actually very tasty. I wish they would've given a bigger side of it, as it was tiny and only enough for about half the chicken. I would have asked the server for more, but she rarely came around. In all, we enjoyed our food. The ambiance was nice outside. The weather was perfect and the patio is really cute. We did have to wait quite awhile for the server to come back and check on us, so we could ask for the check. We thought she'd be back to take it, but nope...we had to flag someone else down to take our payment. That definitely prolonged our visit when we were ready to go. I need to try to more on their menu, specifically lunch or dinner. I did order clam chowder to go and boy, it hit in the right spot! Delicious! This quick-service spot offers clam chowder, plant-based chili, and unique seasonal snacks--solid 3.75 star, a-ok rating for me. As of February 2025, the breakfast menu includes the popular Waffle Cristo (in full and half orders), seasonal snacks, and beverages. For lunch and dinner, entrées include clam chowder or plant-based chili in a sourdough bread bowl, seasonal items, kids' meals, and non-alcoholic beverages. The snack-size Mardi Gras Monte Cristo was delicious and comforting, perfect for one person or to share with a friend. The sourdough bread bowls can be a hit or miss. Although I have had fresh bread in the past, the bread in my recent order was cold and stale. Also, the price is the same whether you get the chowder or chili with or without the bread bowl. I think you'd get more soup in a regular bowl. I'll have to verify that next time. They sometimes charge extra for the little dipping sauce or extra jam cups. It would have been nice to include it with the items.There is one window for walk-up ordering and one for pickup, including mobile orders. Mobile ordering is the way to go and save time. Magic Key discounts also apply.There are a few tables available at RSV but they can be crowded. You can also walk over to Tiana's Palace, Harbour Galley, or Stage Door Cafe (next to River Belle Terrace) for additional tables and breathing room.Note: I prefer the clam chowder at Aunt Cass's in DCA. ;)"

After a long day at Disney, we wanted a nice dinner but we didn't want to pay downtown Disney prices. Since we were staying at the Four Points hotel, we decided to walk back and give it a try. We didn't have high expectations given it was a hotel restaurant. However, once we arrived around 6pm we were instantly seated. I was hangry so this made me so happy. We ordered coconut shrimp as an app, lobster ravioli and short rib for our entrees. The appetizer came out right away probably within 5 min. It was freshly fried, and delicious. Highly recommend! Lobster ravioli - HEAVENLY. I am a lobster fanatic and the dish was super rich and creamy, with hints of flavorful lobster pieces inside. It also had some tender shrimp (not listed in the description) which was a nice add on protein. Brownie Sundae - I mentioned to the server there was a check in offer, and I was offered a free dessert. I chose the brownie sundae (because chocolate and ice cream duh) and it was really good! Super warm and rich, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I preferred that the brownie would've been more fudgey instead of cakey, but my husband liked the chocolate flavor a lot. TLDR: if you don't want to be hangry for dinner after Disneyland and want a nice fancy dinner with food service, head here at dinner hour and you'll be impressed!"

Kind of strange for dinnertime on a Saturday but then again, the whole Riviera scene was similar. Maybe a sign of the economy.Food was average to slightly above average. One dinner was scallops over roasted veggies, the other was grilled chicken on a salad. Service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere is great for people watching. Very clean surroundings. Two entrees, two drinks (one each) and the tab was $92.00, ugh. Add in a $20.00 tip and you get the picture. But again, it seems to be the sign of the times."
