"I was on my way to pick up dinner at another nearby Mexican place when I saw the long line at this taqueria, so I decided to get food here due to popular endorsement.Obviously, I did not order online ahead of time, but I didn't have to wait long. I got my food in about ten minutes, with a cabeza taco plate and two fish tacos. I drove the loot to the Kaiser Downey hospital, where my dad was hospitalized.The food filled my car with the sweet taco aroma during the drive, and even the hospital receptionist commented how good it smelled. I felt bad for her because I couldn't share any of it with her.It was a different story after I took the first bite into the tacos. It was good, but it didn't knock my socks off, and I wasn't even wearing one of those anti-slip hospital socks lined with traction pads. The rice and beans were also mediocre. I devoured them because I was hungry, not because they're particularly tasty.I learned that just because something is popular doesn't mean that it's guaranteed to be good."

"Getting my car worked on in the area and was craving for some menudo and this place had really high review so decided to come check it out. I came on a Friday night and there were plenty of parking spots on the street. The place was relatively empty as most of their orders were to go but the service was really awesome so I'd recommend eating it there. The place is relatively small so not that great for big groups .We ordered menudo large and two carne asada tacos. They brought us out three tacos an extra pastor which I thought was an error but confirmed that they wanted us to try it. Wow praise GOD we got blessed :) the tacos were really good! And we really loved the menudos. It came with a huge amount of meat, some corn tortillas and two types of salsa but be careful with the habanero salsa! What really stood out was how clean the meat looked ;) Great service and delicious menudos!!! Will def be back soon!"

"It's about time. After driving by this Newport Beach gem dozens (if not hundreds) of times I finally had the opportunity to stop by for lunch. Tidepoole is well known to both the locals and tourists of Newport Beach. Their storefront is front and center on PCH, so it's truly hard to miss. I stopped by today after attending a nearby yoga class and grabbed a bite to-go. Their menu was straight forward, with options like sandwiches, pizzas, light sides, etc. I ordered the Charlie Sammy: sourdough, pesto, artichoke, provolone, tomatoes, and arugula. I also paid extra to add chicken as protein. The meal was delicious and served with a sliced pickle. The restaurant was close to empty, but I bet it stays jam packed during the summer months. Despite the slow season, parking is still tough. You'll find street parking available in the nearby residential neighborhoods. Luckily it's a nice walk, so don't let this small hiccup keep you from visiting!"

So, we alternate restaurants. This place definitely made my rotation. Everyone here loved what they got. Big portions and good quality food, why their prices are a little higher. I ordered the camarones rancheros. It came with rice and beans. I'm picky when it comes to my rice and beans and they did not disappoint. They give you a fair amount of shrimp that's mixed in a tomato sauce with veggies. So flavoursome. I really enjoyed my meal. When it comes to chips and salsa let's just say it's hard to please me. Wowzers! That salsa was bomb. It has a kick, but I loved it. The chips tasted fresh and were lightly salted. Multiple people loved this combo. We ordered delivery. It was a nice and simple process. Our food was early. Overall, great experience. I highly recommend and I'm sure my staff can't wait until the next time."

The tamales were 6 for $40 ($7 for one) with a choice of three kinds. I wish the mole ones were offered but I'll have to get them another time. Duck mole tamales!The tamales were moist and soft (but not mushy). The layer of masa was thin and there was plenty of well-seasoned meat. The meat wasn't dry either. And the tamales came with various toppings (cheese, salsa, crema). You could tell that the tamales were made with love. They're also free of pork lard. The woman behind the pop-up, Yunia Fumes Mata, works at Bestia, one of the best restaurants in LA."

It's almost like a mini market that offers tortilla, Mexican bread, masa and more. On their menu is breakfast offerings like Breakfast Burritos, Chilaquiles and Omelettes. For lunch they offer affordable lunch specials at $8.95 that include rice and beans. They also have soups such as Menudo and Albondigas They even offer different coffee drinks.My mom and I both got lunch specials. My mom got the Chicken Tamale while I got the Shredded Beef Taco. The Chicken Tamale was smothered in red sauce. The Shredded Beef Taco was crisp with a fair amount of tender beef. For $8.95; I thought the lunch specials were well worth the price.We also got a large soup of Albondigas. This was a little under $12. The large comes with five Albondigas meatballs. I enjoyed the soup. I thought the broth had good flavor and was not salty. The meatballs were also meaty.Last of all; I saw some day old bread for a $1. There were three pieces inside which I thought was a great deal. I was surprised however when it rang for a $1.50. It was still a good deal but not quite the $1 they advertised. "Tried this spot a while back after hearing they had authentic Mexico City tacos (June 2021). I was super disappointed after having them back then. They were dry and the tortillas tasted like they needed more cooking. The avocado was a nice touch, but didn't make up for it. It also took forever to get them even though they didn't appear to be too busy. I remember the person taking my order wasn't the friendliest either. Back then they had close to 870 followers on Instagram. I vowed never to go back.Fast forward to December 2023 and I see some delicious looking quesadillas on my Instagram feed. I took down their address (didn't recognize it) and drove on over. Low and behold, it's them. I busted a u-turn and went back home. Today, I was looking through Instagram again and they popped up because Brian Addison, who I follow, liked one of their pictures/reels. I trust the guy with food so I decided to give them another chance... so glad I did!This time, I ordered a quesadilla de asada. I was hoping to get their flautas in a cup, but the person taking my order said they ran out (around 4pm on a Sunday), so I settled for the taquitos dorados (two chicken and one potato). The quesadilla was absolutely delicious. A 10/10 and a must have. The potato taco dorado was a 9/10 and the chicken taco dorado was a 6/10 (chicken was a bit dry). They provided curtido (fermented cabbage) which was cool, so I added some of that to the chicken taco dorado. It made up for the dryness a bit. I made sure to order ahead this time. Looking at the reviews, it doesn't look like that's improved. I got there 20 minutes after placing it and it was ready to go. They didn't skimp out on salsa, which is always appreciated. This time around, the person at the register was much friendlier than the person that helped me out a couple of years ago, so that's another improvement. Looking forward to coming back for another quesadilla and trying some other items out. LBfoodcoma (on IG) recently featured their tamales and they look delicious, so I'll have to give them a shot. They are now up to over 5,000 followers on IG. Wishing them continued success!"

I don't usually like sweet tamales and was sure that I wouldn't care for the strawberry tamales, but I was curious. They're delicious! The prices are reasonable. Oustanding value.I've driven by this place many times, but the name made me think the food was Mexican-American. The food doesn't cater to a US palate. It's legit. The owners are a couple who are Honduran and Mexican. I tend to prefer food from southern Mexico, compared to northern Mexico, and this food reminds me of southern Mexican cuisine."

"We have been here numerous times and have taken friends and family. Each time it has been a great dining experience with delicious food in a beautiful space. Last night was no different. It was a very busy Saturday night and we had to make reservations. We waited just a bit but that was to be expected because the place was buzzing. Our family was served by Natalie and she was fantastic. Her presence made it a memorable dinner. It really shows how excellent service can make or break a dining experience no matter how delicious the food. She was on top of it even with how busy the restaurant was. Our water was topped, our chips and dips were switched when low, she checked in at the right times to make sure we had everything we needed but wasn't overbearing. The food was excellent and she brought out plenty of boxes for leftovers along with items to bag up chips and dip. I haven't had such great service in a while and this was comparable if not exceeded nicer restaurants like The Ritz. We walked away impressed and very happy with our meal. The food (amazing every single time) and ambience (a variety of seating styles that are all very comfortable and stylish) is always great here, but the service definitely made this meal.
