Worst customer service ever. The old Japanese woman was so racist. We were the only non-Japanese Asians and she was trying so hard to rush us and make us leave. Took away all our water cups and started clearing the tables even though some of us still had our drinks left. She brought our check without us asking and came back after a few minutes and asked us to close out our tab. So we paid and we're just sitting there, finishing up our evening...and she only comes to our table (there were 2 other tables) and tells us that they close at 11pm on Fridays. She was bringing out more food and drinks to the other tables while we were leaving. We asked "are you sure you're closing at 11pm" and she just replies "we're closed" and walks to the back kitchen. NEVER COME TO THIS SPOT. If you are not Japanese, you are NOT welcomed here

A great small Japanese izukaya/pasta place! A local friend reccomend it and I loved it! The highlight dishes were the fried katsu chicken, the black squid ink spaghetti, and the crab butter pasta. The katsu fried chicken is a must try. The batter was fluffy and crispy, but also was a bit sweet. It almost reminded me of a donut batter! Very unique and delicious. The squid ink pasta was my favorite, but beware it might stain your lips and mouth in black ink. It had a lemongrass tangy hint in the sauce which I loved. I would come back for this again.The crab butter pasta was delicious but it is quite heavy and creamy. It is amazing if you are craving for something thicker and heavier. The lasagna was great! Nothing too special, but it was quite big portions. The calamari was great. Typical calamari well fried. The clam seafood pasta was great as well if you wanted a seafood pasta but didn't want one that was as heavy as the crab one. The wait for pasta was quite long because we were a big table, so we ordered and tried the drinks and appetizers. We got the rainbow drink which was pretty and sweet. But the drinks are quite expensive. The Japanese staff were very kind. An amazing Japanese pasta place! Would come back again to try more. It was nice and moody inside the restaurant. Did not know this little hidden gem was in old Torrance. Found it on Yelp, went it and was pleasantly surprised. Small and intimate, decor was the most interesting part with gates as little partitions. Forgot to snap photos of all the food we ate except for the first one which was nicely fried calamari, that was served very quickly and hot! The cocktail I had had a unique name and I wish I could recall but it was not too sweet, and all of the food we did order (and none of it is shown, we did a good sampling of a variety of things off the menu) was all served with just the right amount of heat, taste, quality, and attention to detail when serving to make sure it all came out at a good pace as you SHOULD expect. I definitely will be back and will catalog my experience next time with photos as it was truly a memorable time at this one delicious and delightful spot!

Forgot how much I loved this place... the pasta with uni and cream sauce was amazing. Plenty of uni, perfect texture pasta and something else- an herb? That added so much to it.The sautéed mushrooms with grilled uni gave me my veggie lift- an energy we all need, while reminding me that personally, eating uni any other way than raw is not making the best use of this Earth treat. Nothing from the chef who knows how to grill chunks of mushrooms in perfectly balanced sauce as would someone only with proper training. Dessert of Catarana would be a whole nother paragraph. Suffice to say- it was not me of the best desserts I've ever had and the perfect end to a hot, hot day.

Great new find for me in old town Torrance.Have great top shelf alcohol. They have Whiskey samplers which were great to sit down with a friend for a leisurely conversation. It was a sampler of Ballentine's 12, 17 and 30 year. We had already eaten but wanted something to munch on with the whiskey so we ordered their calamari and fried potatoes in truffle oil. Both hit the spot. Buon Appetito

Waitress seated us Friday night, 3 tables already eating.. place is empty.. gives us menus and says you know it's going to be 2 to 2 1/2 hours to eat right now, i said excuse me? She said yes it's the end of the week and we will get very busy, I said so your telling me with 3 tables here already eating we will be here for the next 2 1/2 hours. She said yes, do you still want to eat here? I laughed as we walked out.. I'm not racist but I swear it was cuz we were not Asian. We have eatin here in the past and brought guests also, hope you close for good with your flickering sign.

IMHO... Best Izakaya (drink-eat-conversation) jn the South Bay. Japanese whisky selection is next level great and special flights always a treat. Can get small bites or full meals. Parking is plentiful. Cocktails, J beers and even frozen beer... friendly and courteous service. What's not to love?

I pass by this hidden gem daily and would not have thought to order pasta here yet i'm so glad i did. We ordered to go, and it took approx 20 min for my two dishes: crab butter pasta and carbonara. i didn't care the the crab butter pasta, but that is because i am not a seafood person. the carbonara on the other hand was SOOO good and i am so happy this is a 5 min walk from home!!! it had a good few chunks of bacon and was nice and creamy. they seem to have a nice alcohol selection and small dine in area. i hope to give this place another try soon!
