Bistro Bar

This place was down the street from my hotel. Sucked in. To watch the Super Bowl. Bartenders were great. Full bar. Didn't try any food. Great place for drink.

I like the availability of Bistro bar in the area of downtown Long Beach. It was very convenient for the people that stay at the Marriot and also for me which stayed across the street. I wanted to get a couple of drinks and a snack before I ended my night. Decided to walk on over to this place and complete my quest. It was about 9pm on a Saturday night. Not too much going on inside. The place was pretty empty. I sat myself at the bar were I was greeted by the bartender. I ordered my usual a Jack and diet. Browsing the menu I wasn't very hungry but tots sounded amazing. They have the loaded tot'chos and that was my go to. The dish wasn't anywhere close to impressive and I would have been content with regular tots. While speaking with the bartender I asked him what is the most requested drink. It was the Old Fashion. They explained to me how it is a full proof mix. I was interested as I feel Old Fashions can vary and usually gauged by the craft of the mixologist. So I got two. one of my really good girlfriend and i needed a quick brunch spot. bistro bar didnt have a wait and had an open patio so check and checkit was a nice saturday morning in beautiful lbwhich is why we opted for the patioit was just us on the patio, which was great bc we had so much to catch up on! small but very delectable optionsi was btw the breakfast quesadilla and the french toast with strawberriesi went with the breakfast quesadillai wish it had some sort of protein, but now that im looking at the menu (as im writing my review, post 2days) my quesadilla def did not have any bacon or garlic aioli, well that sucks!! my friend ordered the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakesservice was great. our waitress was super sweetshe was attentive, she came around multiple times to make sure we were still goodwe were there after closing, which was noon..we wrapped up our food in to go containers and walked to the hallway to continue our convobistro bar is connected to the courtyard by marriottso if you need to use the restrooms, you'll have to walk through the hotelparking: metered street parking, parking garage

~ SPOT MADE FOR GRUB & DRINKS BEFORE AN EVENT ~Bistro Bar (formerly James Republic) is a solid choice in downtown Long Beach for grabbing food and drinks before an event.We loved the atmosphere; it was spacious, clean, and had big windows facing the street - ideal for people watching! Tito, the bartender, is awesome - he has a great energy and is a lot of fun.For food, we ordered the quesadilla, which was surprisngly large and extra cheesy. We also ordered the wings, and as a wing connoisseur, I can say they were definitely tasty. However, the meatballs were subpar. I didn't love the drink I ordered, but others at the table really enjoyed theirs.One thing to keep in mind: service can be a bit slow, especially when it gets busy. Just be ready to grab your own refills.Overall, it's a good spot to unwind and enjoy some drinks.

Average brunch here with a typical menu. Came with a reservation and service was timely. It had a casual atmosphere. 1. Benedict - Good portion and large. Tasty but not set above other benedicts.2. Chicken and waffles - Also not the best I've had; chicken was not entirely crispy. Good flavor though.Overall good to try at least once!

I absolutely loved our server/ bartender.. she was so kind and knowledgeable. After reviewing the menu, I ordered a medium burger with fries and a side of delicious aioli sauce. I ordered an extra ranch and it was a great touch to the perfectly seasoned French (thick) fries. This place is worth the try. I'd come back and try something else! Everything looked delicious

Stopped off here for a night cap and some dessert. Sunday evening which didn't seemed as crowded as I thought it would be. But people didn't trickle in throughout our visit. First off, service was slow. Short staff or just slow. There was one person at the bar and another that seemed to be working the floor. He seemed like the only one taking everyone's order. We didn't wanted to make things to complicated as there was few of us. Everything on one bill. Ordered a couple of drinks and a few of the dessert as well as a side of fries. Drinks did take a little while as it was only one person working the bar area. The sweets come out shortly afterwards. Service was nice from the waiter but it was slow. Side of fries was never brought out but did check to see if it was added to bill which wasn't. The place is quite nice, great vibe and part of the Marriott hotel I believe. Location, right in the heart of downtown Long Beach. A big ground is arrive after us but with the lack of staff, they were debating on wither of staying or leaving. As no one seemed to acknowledge their party. Took a while. Coming back, maybe for drinks.

Ambience: 10/10Spacious, lots of seating, clean and very beautiful inside and out.Service: 9/10It works very differently here and I'm not the hugest fan. You order from the bar and then sit down wherever you can find. Luckily for me it wasn't busy at all on a Saturday and I found seating right away. The girl who helped me was very nice and recommended a few popular items. She also delivered my food very promptly (I was surprised how fast it came out).No one stops to check on you, it's self serve with coffee and water. You have to keep reordering drinks if you want anything from the bar. So it's not your sit down and enjoy your meal kind of restaurant. You order and then are left to fend for yourself kind of thing. It's not awful, but not what I was expecting either. Food: 4/10No flavor, none whatsoever. I had the breakfast sandwich which came with cubed potatoes. Salt and pepper added to the sandwhich didn't help, the ketchup couldn't save the stale/stiff fried potato cubes.. I would hate to rate this place based off one meal, but it was so bland. I ate the sandwich due to hunger but left the potatoes alone. Dennys has better food to be honest.Ambience and service were perfect, but the food was a huge miss. May try again in the far future. Also kind of crazy that they close at noon, most brunch locations are open until 2pm.

Chef Jesus is the individual who skillfully crafted these three dishes. His dedication, passion, and love for his work are evident in the exceptional quality of the dishes. I commend him for his outstanding efforts and look forward to future culinary experiences at your establishment. The seating and view is great. The server spoke about the "chef" and the kitchen can accomodate if you dont want cheese on your order... The "chef" is a microwave. The food is basically costco frozen meals and warmed and served. The $15 meatballs with arugula is 5 tiny pre-made frozen meatballs that are the size of a quarter. The salad is also just tossed and thrown in a bowl. No lemon or any additions. Just another hotel trying to be a restaurant and failing... but the beer is cold...
