B&R's Old-Fashion Burgers

The food here is absolutely amazing and made with such care! The burger is super juicy and packed with flavor, really seasoned just right.

My recent visit to B&R Burgers in Hawthorne left me with mixed feelings. We called in our order at 12:55 PM and were told it would be ready in 15 minutes. However, we didn't receive our food until 1:37 PM. Needless to say, timeliness isn't their thing.The burgers tasted fresh and were a good size, but the meat lacked seasoning, and the double burgers were a bit obnoxious for me. On the flip side, the fries were absolutely exceptional, with the perfect amount of seasoning.The place is a bit pricey for a local burger shop, and they charge extra for absolutely everything, including Thousand Island dressing. However, the young lady up front was great, managing a ton of customers and answering the phones with efficiency and a positive attitude.Overall, unless I happen to be in that area of Hawthorne with an hour to burn, I wouldn't return. The exceptional fries and friendly service were highlights, but the long wait time and extra charges were significant drawbacks.

the food was delicious. although the chili had a sweetness to it, which im not a gan of, it was still tasty. The burger i THINK had sweet relish which i am also not a fan of, was still yummy. the staff was very friendly. will definitely return. just tough to eat out reregularly with prices being high.

Ambiance: Carry out vibes for sure, not much to the eye, just a counter and space to wait. There are no seats for dining in, so you can't eat there. Service: I've been a couple of times, and it's really a grab bag of personalities there, sometimes they're really patient, other times not so much. Overall, I've never had a terrible experience. Food: Again, I've been a few times... I've loved it the first few times, but now it's just ok. I usually get the same thing... burger/fries/turkey tacos. They used to be my favorite. Now, I only get them when I'm that way. Decent prices for a decent meal. It's reliable, at the very least. Parking is tight, and the lots are not that big, so be prepared to maneuver.

I've passed by this place a numbers of times and always wondered how their burgers were. Little independent places like this are usually either great or really lousy, not much in between. After reading the Yelp reviews, I decided it was time after my debacle at Dare to Care in Gardena (who didn't seem to care).The guy at the counter was cool and helpful. I don't understand the reviews that ripped them for their service, especially one about racism. My experience was extremely positive so take those types of comments with a grain of salt. I asked about the difference between the King and B & R burgers and was amused to find out it was only the size of the patties. One is 1/3 pound and the other 1/2 pound. No difference in seasoning or toppings. I guess some people can never have enough choices. My son got the King w/cheese and I ordered a double B&R, which makes for one tall burger. We split a large order of sweet potato fries which wasn't very large. That was about the only disappointing part of the order.We got home and devoured our burgers and were extremely satisfied with our food. These independent burger places (the legit ones) just make a better burger. Oh, I forgot to order beef links on the burgers so I ordered a side after my original order. When you put a link on your burger, it just elevates it to completely different level. So good. If burger chains ever offer this, I'm sure they will find a way to totally screw it up.Goes without saying, I'll be going back. Maybe I'll try their tacos as well. Sorry I didn't take pictures. We were so hungry after being turned away at the first place.

My first time coming to B&R's & honestly the burger was not it for me, service was great & the place was clean. If I happen to be in the area again I will give it another try.

Love this place I go here when I can the burgers are fresh the guy works hard to make a quality burger and very nice guy!

Disappointed- I guess I did try this place before, but didn't remember. Won't forget again!!!When you have a feeling about something, trust your instincts. I have lived within blocks of this place for over 10 years and have never had the urge to order a burger from here and I should have stuck to that. Honestly not sure how long it's been here, but I know most of my time I've seen it as I've visited the parking lots other businesses for years.Back story, we rarely eat burgers, even homemade and when we want them out we try to go for something that's above mediocre. Well that is why we decided to try a new place.Finding the online ordering portal was a bit difficult, but when you finally get to the online portion, it hella detailed. So I'm thinking this is a good sign of a place that puts care into their products.So instead of getting into all the things that made me not want to order from here or even pissed me off when I did (such as the 30 min gap of time for pick up) I'll stick to the food because that's what's important. BTW. We got there to pick up during the earliest time, with the understanding that we could be waiting for almost 30 mins. The fries were dry, cold, unseasoned and overcooked. My older son, added an annoying amount of salt and ketchup, but if that is what he needed to get them down, hey.The burgers lacked seasoning and were cold. My toddler took his Jr burger and picked it apart, he didn't eat it, just took it apart. BTW the Jr burger was way too big for him and he eats like young child, so we did try to smash it for him to eat it, but he refused. I could have bought play dough for cheaper. This details I just gave are a general idea from the 4 people who were "eating" but this is my page and my opinion is... I'm way to frugal to throw food away, but not today. I added to pictures, how I plated my food and I threw the rest (some fries were added back to the bag) away.

Fries on point. Thousand island on point. Lemonade on point. Burger?....bun was dry. Patty was awkwardly shaped. Wasn't even big enough for the bun,cheese wasn't even melted.... fries made everything better. Would definitely go back, but not for a burger.

The recipe has changed, and the meat on my burger was not as tasty as it used to be 10 years ago.
