This place is WAY bigger than it appears from outside! I needed lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves for hot & sour soup. I got that. Along with baby bok choy, curry paste, Piknik snacks and a couple of other things.Produce aisle isn't all labeled, so I had to ask for help. They didn't have the lime leaves out. The little man found me in another part of the store with a package of them. There are aisles and aisles of all sorts of Oriental foods. I could have spent a couple of hours in there exploring, but wasn't feeling so hot. That's why I wanted to make the soup in the first place.Strange odor near produce section, but I don't question those sorts of things. Spent $10 and walked out with a big bag o' stuff.

Great little Vietnamese grocery store. If I lived closer I would be happy with their selection. Prices were reasonable. Selection was nice and varied. People were pleasant and the store was clean.

First thought walking inside the store, eck. No order or just kinda slapped together product on top of shelves. I make my way towards the produce. Very limited options. But a bushel of Basil under 2 bucks? I'm in!I proceed to walk up and down the asiles looking for dried kelp and red miso. No luck. So finally I just ask the cashier. The woman didn't speak much english but the young man jumped in to help. He was SUPER nice, walking up and down trying to help find what I'm looking for my items. He even asked the Manager when I thought red miso was a type of sauce not a packet of soup that he gave me. He also looked up the difference between kelp and seaweed. Because they had dried seaweed but not kelp. Which I ended up purchasing since it was in the same family. The reason they got such a low star count is because, at one aisle smelled like fish juice. Very disgusting. The store was old and looked it, not very well kept. I would hesitate to purchase any frozen items here. At the other end, opposite of the produce, was a type of kitchen. It had a hot plate buffet thing going that had two different pieces of meat sweltering under the hot lamp. There was these rolled up questionable food item and pre packeged corn on a table that flies were buzzing around. Something that would get an F if an inspection should happen by. The prices were cheap but the product in certain areas is questionable. But customer service was most excellent!

Our favorite Chinese grocery store is Ranch 99 at Chino Hill, California. I am trying to find a good Chinese grocery store in Scottsdale that is similar to the one in Chino Hill. I saw the good review from the other reviewers so I decided to stop by on my way home to Scottsdale after visiting the 7th Street Consignment store. I did not have any problem finding the place. It has a lot of parking space in front of the store since a lot of the business in the same shopping area is out of business. I noticed the windows of the store all have steel bars. I am a little concerned about the area. Since I am from the east coast originally, if you see the steel bars on the store windows that means the area is not safe! The Loi Phat Oriental Food is a very large food store but it is very small comparing to Ranch 99. I am sure they have everything you needed for Asian cooking. The price did not look too cheap, may be it is cheap for AZ standards. I did not purchase anything from the store. The store is like the grocery stores in NY Chinatown or grocery stores in Asian back in the old days. Not your supermarket style or standers.Since I was concern with my safety in the area. I left the store as soon as I could. However, there were a lot of Asian ladies came into the store to do their regular purchases.I will not go back to this store. I will just go to my local House of Rice in Scottsdale for now until I find a Ranch 99 or H-Mart type of store.

Smells a little funky, but I love how everything is fresh including the galangal and kaffir lime leaves.

This place is OK. It is a pretty good size market with good variety. Prices are not as low as other markets. It also could be cleaner. Especially the bathroom. It looked as if it had not been cleaned in months! Also the soap dispenser was empty. there was dish washing soap on the counter I guess you are supposed to use. They were also out of paper towels, so how are the employees washing their hands? They also sell prepared food there.
