Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar

you know when you're unemployed, so you go and grab $1 oysters with your friend only to realize other adults are in there with you so you ask yourself "how do people have time to grab a whole meal at 3 PM on a Monday? Are they also unemployed? Does their job allow them to do this???" Just me? ok...Anyways, I love this place for the rustic and fun take on the wild west. This place is like if urban graffiti and a saloon had a baby! The tacos I would have to say were the best so if you're a Birria taco fiend, then come here !! Other than that if you live Southie, then definitely come by for a late night margarita and party it up with your friends!!

Would 100% come back for taco Tuesday! The tacos are ~2 bites each but so diverse and affordable. I think taco Tuesday tacos are smaller than regular. It was my first time trying birria and was delicious, but I didn't see the point of the dipping sauce as it didn't change the flavor much. The crispy calamari was interesting- unsure if I'd get again, there was more fry than anything. The seared tuna was packed full and the Baja fish was a typical fish taco (would get both again). Short rib was a hit as well. We also got street corn - surprisingly addicting. The espresso martini was GOOD, one of the best I've had. Also, the coco cocktail is my favorite - hint, ask for blueberry syrup or liqueur in it. To die for.Service was very quick, and definitely get a reservation!

Did take out- pretty good quality tacos and yummy. Enjoyed the guacamole with seasoned chips as well for entrees had tacos, steak corn salad, and Eloite with rice. Unfortunately steak was missing but they were able to correct it. Overall pretty good Mexican food

If you're a guacamole lover then Loco will be for you.....branching off from the standard guacamole and offering several other varieties was an absolute treat. The original guacamole had a nice kick to it with freshly fried tortilla chips nicely seasoned with sea salt. Yes, we took the plunge when we spotted guacamole with bacon ......omg it was delishhhhhh with crumbled well done bacon on top. Of course now that I tried it....I want it offered at any establishment offering guacamole.Onto the main dishes I ordered a shrimp burrito, it was ok not overly spectacular and a very minimal amount of small shrimp inside (I guess I am spoiled since I have had it at other places and large shrimp were used) It was just lacking the spice factor that I am used to. The crispy carnitas & the carne asada tacos were a hit with tender succulently spiced meat that wasn't overcooked. Chicken fajita burrito was enjoyed by other party in my group. If you order nachos as an appetizer it's a pretty large serving, 3 people can easily share it.Our server Steven M. Was great, very friendly and helpful and able to juggle the huge crowds in his designated area....all of our dishes were bought to the table much quicker than I expected considering how full the restaurant was. Booth seating is available which is what we had and a better option to spread out and stripping off all these winter jackets and scarves. There were also seats at the bar and free standing tables. Loco is decorated with a rustic flare which gives it a warm ambiance.

If you are coming for the tacos or the cocktails, maybe skip this bar. If you're coming for the vibes, come on through. The big al didn't taste like ghost pepper or passionfruit. The chips were the best part of the meal... but the elote and the queso were bland. The broccolini taco had too much going on -- with the mozzarella being a strange flair. The carnitas were okay but left quite a mess -- unclear if that was sauce or oil. But the music was great and the service and staff were very nice... the place was packed... and the drinks were more reasonable than other places down the street ($13/margaritas).

Sitting right at the corner of a super busy city street is Loco Taqueria. This place has a little bit of everything although it's primarily a Mexican and seafood place. They have pretty cheap oysters and the mignonette sauce that accompanied them was great. I loved the birria Tacos. Just oozing with flavor. Style wise the ceviche though is the best looking dish with it scooped into little plantain cups. Loved the outdoor patio and they do have a ton of umbrellas there for shade/rain protection.

Our server was amazing and the food was 6/10, but holy cow the music is so, so loud. It doesn't seem like it needs to be and when I asked the server she joked it off that she gets hearing damage every day. Our party of 3 all agreed, way too loud, needed to shout to hear one another across the table. Maybe they should ask other customers?

loco is always a go to for reliable mexican! my parents were visiting and I have taken my mom to loco before and she requested we have it once during their trip. we started off with the dip trio which is always a hit (especially with seasoned tortilla chips!!!). our meals were spot on as always with enchiladas, sizzling octopus, and a mix of different tacos. the south boston location is a popular going out spot so it does get noisy, but still able to enjoy your meal! always will recommend we love loco!

The food was mid honestly but the service/waiter was TERRIBLE!! He was awfully rude, had to ask him to bring condiments or lemons 3 times before he would actually bring it. my nephew was standing up and he told us that he "needed to sit down" and was very rude and standoffish. My wife asked when our appetizer would be out and he made snarky comments to me and my family. We spoke to the manager because his behavior was unacceptable to say the least. We told the manager that he cannot come back to our table. The manager fixed it and took the beer off the check.It's definitely not a family place, more college kids and a bar.

Loco's management team and bouncers allowed an inebriated woman to punch me, leaving me with a black eye. After the assault, bouncers looked the other way and refused to help.An extremely inebriated woman continually harassed our group throughout the evening claiming that someone in our group took her phone. We tried to help her multiple times. I spent 15 minutes with her looking for the phone and tracking the location on her friend's iPhone Find My app. Unfortunately, she was woefully mistaken since the location bubble covered half of the city block. We asked staff to either help or remove her. Instead, they allowed her behavior to continue. After she approached women in our group with slurred, verbal abuse, I firmly asked her to leave our reserved table area. She did, then returned 10 minutes later and hit me in the eye, leaving me with a lump and black eye.I immediately left that table area to inform management and security. What did they do? They told us to leave. Once outside, another patron bothered by the incident informed us that the woman was "very close" with the staff.The photo attached is the bouncer that turned a blind eye. We contacted authorities. Unfortunately, the assailant already disappeared after being consoled by the bouncers.Once the bouncers realized how much they messed up, I asked them to help resolve the issue. Instead they hemmed and hawed, shouting insults at our group. Incredibly unprofessional.Through all of this, our waitress was wonderful and the food was good.Update: Yelp informed me that a complaint was filed on my review. My review is accurate and fully complying with Yelp Guidelines. I won't make assumptions about who complained...
