The best fried catfish sandwich I've ever had with great greens and a side of superb coleslaw (extra). An excellent experience in the casual Durham Food Hall. $$ but worth it. Counter service then sit down tables in the Food Hall. This location is within walking distance of the Durham Convention Center.

It's so sad I've slept on Locals for so long as it is nothing short of awesome! The staff was super welcoming and knowledgeable and encouraged me to get one of the Calabash platters. It was a little pricey at $30, but it was so worth it! From the first bite to the last one was delicious. The fried shrimp had a light crispy batter coating, and it was made even better with the creamy sauce! The grilled shrimp did not need anything as it came with a slightly spicy coating that was oh so good! I could not get enough! I will be back for their tuna sandwich, which I was told is a staple and it very delicious as well! I can't wait!

I walked up to the counter at this busy and fun Durham food court and was greeted by several fresh fish on ice (no idea what kinds) and some very hip people making lunch for a lot of folks. I asked "what on this menu should I get?" and was immediately told to get the grilled fish sandwich. The flaky, non-fishy white fish was grilled to perfection with seasoning and topped with lettuce, tartar, and pickles on a toasted bun. I asked for hot sauce just in case. Y'all, this sandwich was EVERYTHING I wanted and more. I am sad to say that I ate this thing so fast I forgot to take a single photo of it...heartbreaking! I would come back tomorrow if I weren't flying back home.

If you want the BEST oysters in Durham, then go to Locals. I have been craving some fresh oysters. This restaurant is located in the Durham Food Hall. It's the first restaurant you will see coming into the hall on the right. The service here is top notch. I was having issues with ordering on the app. One of the members of the team stepped into help me. I didn't see 1/2 dozen oysters on the menu and they were happy to accommodate me! These oysters come from the coast. They are juicy and full of flavor! The fried scallops are gluten-free. The scallops had an amazing crunch on the outside and a meaty texture on the inside. If you are craving good seafood, then come to locals!

I'm a fan of The Local Seafood ... I went to the food Hall and didnt expect to find the seafood place and their offerings. I also didnt know I would be talking to Walker who owns the local seafood and glad I did, we talked about the oysters they had and he was very knowledgeable about the fresh oysters he had for the day. We went into details about flavor profiles and the difference from east coast and west coast oysters and where the local oysters off the shores of the Carolinas, it was refreshing to talk to someone with in depth knowledge of the offerings they had. So while talking about oysters.. I looked over and asked him about his fresh fish he had and next thing you know.. his team came out and talked to me about how I wanted my whole fish prepared for lunch.. :-) Yup his chefs was able to come up with a plan to fry it onsite and how I wanted it seasoned and boom next thing you know, I had a fresh whole fried fish for lunch while sitting at the bar enjoy conversations and drinks . The fish was fried to perfection with a cornmeal coating and seasoned just like how it like . It was awesome and will definitely be coming back to try what else they have and can come up with :-) Big thanks to Walker and his Chefs... sorry I didnt get their names, but they both were awesome !

Growing up in Midwest with fond memories of visiting roadside catfish stands along the Mississippi with my dad, I can confidently say this is a GOOD catfish sandwich! Light, not too heavy on the breading, not too salty, perfect bun, lettuce, pickles & hint of secret sauce, plus lemons to squeeze per taste. Highly recommend!

I tried this spot in the Durham Food Hall with a friend for lunch. Note there is a shared water and utensil station for the entire food hall which took a moment to figure out. This restaurant is located at the entrance and service was timely. There are not a ton of choices on the menu but that can help with decision making? I had the shrimp roll. Think lobster roll but with shrimp and you have exactly this sandwich. The flavor was good but left me hungry not long and $15 later.

My favorite place in the Durham Food Hall.We tried the "Roasted Oysters" which is 4 roasted oysters with rotating compound butter. That was incredible, tasty, fresh and the Po' Boy Sandwich with Fried Shrimps was also delicious. The guy in charge of our order was so nice, he recommended us for the Fried Shrimps in the Po' Boy. The ambiance of course is joyful here because of the different businesses, the cool thing is when you come with people you can try many kind of food so it's cool to share.Check out my pictures ...
