Grabbed some food from here while at the Colony Square. No line. But since it was close to closing they ran out of plantains and the mushrooms.I hella wanted some plantains too. Anywho, I ordered the jerk chicken, rice & peas and cabbage. I also ordered jerk shrimp to add. The jerk wasn't too spicy, and I love spicy, so it was pleasant and could taste all the flavors. The rice & peas was good, as well as the cabbage.Everything was good. Especially considering it was the end of day. The quality didn't lack. I'd eat here again.

Located in the food hall in Colony square. No lines when I approached, and the counter process was a breeze. Wifey and I reviewed the menu, ultimately deciding on sharing the Curry Chicken dinner. We paired it with rice and peas, and it came with two extra sides - our choices were the plantains and the coconut Caribbean corn. There were many options to choose from for meats and sides. They took down my phone number to shoot me a message when the food was ready. A quick text and call later, and we were good to go. The plating kinda caught me off guard a little. I didn't really expect it to be in a huge bowl. Wifey and I dug in and it was definitely big enough for us to share since we were not super hungry. She thought it was spicy, but I did not. My spice tolerance is much higher than hers. Overall, the food proved to be a winner - delicious and seasoned well.

Went to IPIC Theatre in Midtown to see Scream VI (sooooo freaking good) with the Fam and we decided to eat ion the food court in colony square AKA Politan Row! It's such a vibe, they play good music and a variety of restaurants to choose from. I love Caribbean food and decided to try Locale Cafe , I ordered Curry shrimp, coconut rice, rice and peas, steamed cabbage, sauté zucchini and carrots! It was delicious, it was a long wait for my order; However, the food was hot and freshly prepared. It was really good and super spicy, I will go back again next time in the area. There is a parking deck under colony square, charges $3 and the will validate for 4.5 hours, we actually paid $3 which was awesome!

Terrible "Caribbean" food. Non-Caribbean people in the kitchen preparing Caribbean food. Cabbage severely undercooked. Rice was mushy and weird. Plantains okay. Met the Operations Manager who alleged she's a chef and guaranteed the food would be good because she trained the guys in the kitchen. I knew better. People outside the culture can't replicate the culture. Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, you didn't address the quality of the food or my experience, just your emotions. I didn't say non-Caribbean people can't cook; no one in the kitchen was black. Didn't feel right. And definitely didn't taste right. Take the feedback and turn it around, use it to your advantage. Invite me back. Prove me wrong vs I hope you find better food elsewhere. That's a given.

Locale Carribean Café is located in the back left corner of Politan Row at Colony Square. It's a small minority owned restaurant with a cute vibe. I ordered from the revamped menu you get a choice of a base (Coconut Rice, Rice and Peas, or Mixed Greens), a choice of Protein (Grilled Jerk Chicken, Jerk Shrimp, Curry Chicken, Oxtails, or Jerk'd Oyster Mushrooms) and can pick two sides (Steamed Cabbage, Coconut Caribbean Corn, Sweet Fried Plantains, or Plantain Chips)For my meal I ordered:Grilled Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas, Cabbage, and Sweet PlantainsI also had:Cocoa Bread and a Pineapple SodaThe Grilled Jerk Chicken was seasoned well (seemed to be brushed over with Jerk BBQ sauce) as was the Cabbage which had great flavor and was cooked perfectly (not overdone and mushy).I did take a star, because as other reviewers mentioned the rice was a tad bit dry but had a good taste and the plantains could be cooked longer. I appreciated the plating of the food items to be aesthetically pleasing and having the cabbage separated to keep the food from being soggy was a plus. Also, my interaction with the employees of this business were stellar. Everyone was pleasant and professional. While I was there I met the owner, Taylur she was a pleasure to interact with and is making adjustments to her business. I look forward to watching this business grow and improve. If you're wondering if I'll be back...I definitely will.

One of the many restaurants located inside Colony Square's Politan Row food hall. I went on a Friday during our training's lunch break. They only had two employees working (one at the register and another cooking). The staff remained their cool and seemed calm even as the line grew. The line means they have satisfied customers and/or folks interested in tasting their cuisine which is a good thing. I patiently waited and it didn't take long because I got a beef patty and peas and rice with oxtail gravy. Very comparable in taste to other Jamaica restaurants. The beef patty had a spicy kick to it. The rice and peas are really red beans. The prices are slightly higher than a neighborhood restaurant, probably because of the location, but not bad at all. I would be a repeat customer.

I got the jerk chicken, coconut rice, rice and peas, cabbage, corn, beef, patty, and Coco bread. I agree with one of the other reviewers who said the chicken was just barbecue chicken not jerk chicken. The coconut rice was a little crunchy for some reason. The rice and peas were good. The cabbage lacked flavor and didn't have any thyme or spice to it. The corn was meh, didn't hate it and didn't love it. The beef patty was good, but I'm glad I got it for $3 during happy hour because $6 for that is a joke. The Coco bread must've been frozen and defrosted because you could taste the freezer burn on it. That was such a shame.I wouldn't recommend them or eat here again.

Let me start off by saying I love Caribbean food, especially Jamaican. So I was excited to see this place here. I ordered the jerk chicken, Jamaican patty, and the rice and beans. I was disappointed. The chicken was good but it was bbq chicken not jerk chicken. The rice and beans weren't like rice and beans from Jamaica. They had a different taste with barely any beans in it at all. And the Jamaican patty wasn't good at all. I didn't even finish it. And it was 6 dollars for one. That's insane. Overall, I wouldn't come back. This place was pricy for what it was. There's better places in this food hall. Parking is really expensive. Try to find street parking

It's located on the far left corner inside Politan Row at Colony Square in midtown. Parking is available in the garage and can easily be validated for free 2-3 hour from the front desk near the entrance of Politan Row. This spot was one of the few places I haven't eaten from so I decided to give it a try on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the rice and peas with the grilled jerk chicken with steamed cabbage and plantain chips. The associate taking my order didn't really know how the buzzers worked so it ended up going off before my order was ready. I got my order to-go so once I got home, I saw that they had forgotten my side of plantain chips. The jerk chicken also lacked seasoning and it was undercooked. I was definitely disappointed in the meal. The rice and peas were good though.

Coming from South Florida and having a LOVE for authentic Caribbean food, this place HIT THE SPOT!! Although this is located in a food hall, it is easily the best food in there. The patties...AMAZING!! I had the curry chicken AND curry shrimp and was not disappointed!! I will be returning!!
