I grabbed a couple pastries and an oatmeal cookie. Everything was fantastic! I got a black coffee to even out all the sweets Staff were great but the location is small. Be ready to stand in a short, cramped line

Stopped by for a quick lunch to go but let's not lie, lately, most come here for the hyped up chocolate cake. Coming in, the ambiance was a little busy (came around noon) but quiet. Only one person ahead of me in line and most of the tables were filled; people were busy chowing down, as they should be. They had a glass display for their pastries and cookies and the shelf behind the counter had their loaves. Seemed like things sold out pretty fast, so that spoke well for what they offered. There's not a lot of selection when it came to the breakfast and lunch sandwiches but I wanted my choice to speak for itself. I decided on the Albert ham and cheese sandwich. It was a solid sandwich but a little pricey for $15. Loved the crunch of the slaw and the sourdough bread was toasted to perfection. I only ate half and saved the rest for later because they gave a good sized serving.Last but not least was THE cake. One slice cost me $7.50 so I had a lot of expectations. Let me say on the first bite, I wasn't blown away but as I kept digging in, the chocolate flavor wasn't one dimensional. The frosting on the outside was very good with a little hint of that dark chocolate. The sponge cake was just your good ol' chocolate cake, nothing special. It wasn't that moist but it was soft. I think the best part was the icing in the middle layers; the chocolate frosting was fluffier and there's a hint of saltiness. You need to have one solid forkful of all the elements to appreciate how good this cake was. It was dense and decadent but I'm not sure it's worth $7.50. I'd eat it again but only for a special treat, haha!Would I go back here? For sure when payday arrives, haha! I spent around close to $30 (with tip) for a sandwich and a slice of cake, and that's a little over my budget. Just wanted you guys to keep this in mind if you decide to try this place out!

Loaf Lounge is an outstanding addition to Avondale and provides multiple delicious options for breakfast, lunch, and sobriety. The sausage egg and cheese muffin is a supersized version of the McD's variety and extravagantly better, with an egg oozing with yolk, loads of cheese and a spicy sausage held together by a fluffy fresh muffin.Their sandwiches are huge and can sustain two. The grilled cheese is loaded with cheese, and the turkey sandwich is a perfect combination of hard crunch from the bread mixing with the tender turkey and creamy red pepper mayo. Finally, for dessert? The chocolate cake from the Bear completely lives up to the hype and is one of the finest I've had - dense cake, and creamy chocolate frosting that is not at all cloying. A stellar specimen!Oh, hey, why be sober during all this deliciousness? The Loaf also serves up beer, wine and cocktails. My noble bourbon boozers will appreciate the Old Fashioned, a stellar pour of bourbon freshened up with some persimmon liquor.

Decent amount of seating. Limited free parking next to restaurant, everywhere else is pay for parking. Came here for their version of the sausage egg McMuffin and got the ham and cheese croissant . $10 for sammich and $2 for hash brown. Pricey ,but I knew what I was getting myself into because I I'm very into sausage egg McMuffin. Sign said it would take 20-25min during busy time. It tastes better than mcdonalds. It's good, I would get it again. Sausage and English muffin were the highlight. Not too salty and full flavor . A lot of times breakfast sandwiches are overly salty. Not this one

This place was a great choice. Looking for a sit down breakfast but wasn't lucky enough to find a table. We ordered anyway. There were a few tables, mostly 2 seaters. A few chairs around the counter. Very friendly, smiley happy staff. They greeted you with a warm smile and waited patiently if you were still deciding on what to order. The menu is small and they serve breakfast and lunch. But small is the best that means they perfect what they are good at. The food looked good. We ordered 3 sausage egg & cheese on an English muffin. And a bacon, egg and cheese on a sesame bun. And the homemade crunchy English muffin was DELICIOUS. Never have I had such a good breakfast sandwich that I was wanting more after I finished. The sausage was full of flavor and you could taste the pork. All I have to say is I want it again. I'll be back!

Okay so boom, this breakfast sandwich is 10 dollars, hash brown isn't included ($2) . Okay, fine. The sandwich is mediocre. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the taste of the sausage itself, the muffin was good, and i liked the sauce and that was about it. The matcha wasn't great it tasted watered down and the iced coffee was just okay. We also tried the chocolate cake (7.50) for a slice.... That was also very meh. This place is cute and it seems like they have other stuff on their menu that seems good but i can't justify paying as much as i did for the mediocre service. We arrived as soon as they opened and there was about 3 other people standing behind us and the woman who opened the door( not sure if she's a manager or what) Completely ignored me when i told her good morning... K... The cashier was super nice and friendly but that other lady blew me.. The two sandwiches, 2 hash browns, 2 drinks and 3 slices of cake ran me $76.15. Definitely won't be returning

Loaf Lounge has been on my list to visit for quite some time now, and it was as good as I've been hoping -- if not better! The inside is super casual and chill. You wait (typically in line) to order, get a number, and if you're lucky enough to score a table or bar stools, stay and enjoy your food.It was a minute since I've been here and I believe I had some sort of turkey/avocado/"california" type sandwich. It was humongous and delicious. Looking at the menu now, it appears they switch things up -- which I love! That means there's always something new to try. They also had breakfast sandwiches, a variety of pastries, and the infamous chocolate cake featured on The Bear. Love this as a casual spot to stop in for a weekend breakfast or lunch with a friend! Can't wait to go back!

There are a bunch of brunch places that specialize in pastries and breakfast sandwiches. I don't think Loaf Lounge is anything special and there are much better places in Chicago and even in Logan.Let's start with the cake. Everyone comes here for the cake because it is the chocolate cake prominently featured in the show The Bear. Is it good? I mean it's chocolate cake how bad can it be. The sponge is a bit gummy for my taste and there isn't much of a flavor different between the chocolate flavor of the cake and the outside frosting. The ganache in the center is INCREDIBLE. Give me a bowl of that and I'd be happy. The cake is fine. I don't think it's the best in the city nor is it necessarily worth a special trip. The breakfast sandwich was also okay... but once again nothing spectacular. The homemade English muffin was fine. The sausage was okay. The egg was cooked well. The cheese melted very unevenly and I couldn't get a good bit with everything. I don't know, I think I was disappointed overall with something that was supposed to be hyped up so much. I was hoping for something on the level of Kasama and a strong attention to detail. The was just overall lacking.

Cool busy spot on North Milwaukee avenue. I had the sausage breakfast sandwich on a freshly made English muffin and it was perfect. Flavorful fresh sausage, egg, cheese and topped with a crispy hot hash-brown patty. Also tried their famous cinnamon roll and it did not disappoint. A lot of folks there on a Sunday morning but the fast friendly workers kept things moving.

This cute place makes the chocolate cake from the show The Bear. It is WORTH IT. It's almost cake pop texture, with a light whipped chocolate frosting in the middle of the layers & a fudgy frosting on the outside. Not too sweet! In a great way! Also yum was the savory croissant w/kale & gruyere. So flaky!I had initially wanted to try the sausage & egg breakfast sammich bc it's on a fresh baked english muffin (for which I am a sucker) - but they were out of the english muffins. So we got likely the best toasted ham & cheese sammich on sourdough ever. A festival of textures & tastes: house made bread - toasted crunchy on both sides, grainy mustard, generous w/good ham, fresh crunchy purple cabbage slaw. A HUGE sammich - in width and girth. Definitely shareable, or more than one meal. And a properly very very murky dark dark green, iced matcha americano. So good!!Come here. Try everything!
